Welcome to the evangelism podcast. I’m Daniel King and I am super excited about leading people to Jesus. Today. I have a very special guest with me, evangelist Richard Hislop. Thank you so much for being with me today.

Richard Hislop (01:14):
Thank you so much. It’s a huge honor, Daniel, and I’m a huge fan of the podcast myself. So it’s such an honor to be with you today.

Evangelism Coach Daniel King (01:22):
Richard, tell me some about yourself and how you got started in being an evangelist.

Richard Hislop (01:29):
Yeah, absolutely. You know, I was saved at a young age, grew up in the church. My parents just love the Lord and I remember sitting around the kitchen table one afternoon and I received Jesus as my Lord and savior right there with my mom and dad and my family and my whole life. I knew that I had a call of God on my life. Just words receive from the Lord, Holy spirit, the way he was moving on my heart, but never knew exactly how that would manifest or what that would look like. But as growing up, I remember watching the TV and watching TBN all of a sudden you know, that was back in the day where I think it was like the Trinity broadcast network or something like that. We would see this channel and all of a sudden I saw this, this man come on the screen and all this, this huge crowd in Africa shouting for Jesus.

Richard Hislop (02:20):
And it was Reinhardt Bonnke. And I got to see this huge gospel crusade of him preaching the gospel for before a massive people. And I was so moved in my heart and touched by that, that I knew one day that I would want to do the same thing for Jesus, that I had a passion for the gospel and the loss, but, you know, never knew exactly how that would play out what that would do, but it was it was a T a period of time over, I guess, the course of just growing up and maturing that, that solidified of who I am and my call and Jesus that I would be an evangelist that I’m called to be an evangelist and to preach the gospel. As as I went throughout high school, I ended up going to a church of God school at Lee university in Cleveland, Tennessee, and studied there.

Richard Hislop (03:08):
And then ended up getting married and going to the workforce. And we just served in our church here in the Fredericksburg Virginia area, me and my wife and my wife and I at that time, ended up doing a three month full, full immersive, like a full-time ministry internship here in the Fredericksburg area. And around that time, and I even remember younger going on missions trips, and we went with our pastor like to Peru, and he was doing this massive crusade at the end of the week. And we were the ones going out on the streets and because the language barrier we would do these mime acts of like I actually got to play the devil and my friend got to play Jesus. And he found the place to start your ministry playing the devil. Oh, where are you in, in Peru? What’s that?

Richard Hislop (03:56):
We were in a ketose Peru. We flew into Lima, and then we went to Iquitos, Peru. And who did you go down there with? Or what was we went with? I’m sorry. Yeah, we went with Trinity chapel and that was that was a Steve FETO was our PA the pastor and they evangelist there and having this big crusade at the end of the week. And so we would go leading up to that. We would just go into all these schools and all in, all around all the town, we would do it on the streets, but we, then we would hit school after school, after school and show people being bound in chains, and then Jesus coming in and setting the people free. And it was such a powerful image. And then they would pray. We would have the gospel preach with an interpreter leading up to the big crusade at the end of the week.

Evangelism Coach Daniel King (04:35):
Yeah, I remember I got to go to a Iquitos, Peru probably about 20 years ago now doing a crusade, they’re participating in a crusade and it ketos, you fly into Lima, Peru, which is the capital. And then you go on another plane way out into the jungle. And really the only way to get there is by airplane, but it’s right next to the Amazon river. So I remember when we went to ketos, we actually got on a boat and went several miles up and down the Amazon river, visiting some of the tribe, people there and visiting the churches that had been planted by another evangelist friend of mine that was in that area. And so it’s, it’s awesome to hear that God is moving in a ketos, Peru still, and people are being saved there. What were some of the, the miracles and things that you saw when you were there in Peru?

Richard Hislop (05:28):
Yeah. Well, besides the such hunger to hear the gospel and to be, you know, we, we were, we were having seen people delivered from alcohol addictions. We were seeing people healed. We at the end, at the crusade, some of the most memorable times, that was the first time I really saw the power of God, fall of miracles manifesting right before my eyes in person and leading up. Then we had the big crusade at the end. And I remember I was a part of the ministry team and just praying over person and I, for someone and all of a sudden their deaf ears opened, they were able to hear, we were seeing other people, their blind eyes were being open one, a premature baby. She actually grew a foot because it was, you was about to die. This person brought a premature baby, and I didn’t see the baby grow in person, but the person brought it up.

Richard Hislop (06:14):
And the other people were like, yes, they were like, it was this big. And now it grew. And sh the, the one, the mom was up on the stage crying, crying, because it was barely, apparently this baby was malnourished and had some birth issues and Jesus just stepped in. And I was, I was blown away by that mighty creative miracle as a young man, I was just like, wow, look at the hunger and the power of the Lord. And of course the greatest miracle of all is these people giving their lives to Jesus, to be their personal Lord and savior.

Evangelism Coach Daniel King (06:47):
You remember one of the things that I got to eat when I was in Iquitos, Peru was alligator tail nuggets. So like chicken nuggets except made out of alligator tail and everyone’s, well, what does it taste like? And to me it tasted like, like chicken, but fishy chicken. So did you get to eat something?

Richard Hislop (07:05):
Exactly. I, it was like, it was like a merit. It had like a little bit of a sauce to it, the alligator. And I remember I was like, it’s like chicken. I was like, yeah, it tastes like chicken, but that’s a great way to describe it. A fishy chicken. Yeah. So

Evangelism Coach Daniel King (07:19):
I was reading on your website and it sounds like you’ve really been impacted by the ministry of Reinhard Bonnke the great German evangelist. And yes, you, you mentioned that you had it in your heart to launch out into full-time evangelism to launch your ministry, but it was really the event of him going to heaven that really gave you the impetus to do that. So tell me a little bit about that and why hearing that he, that Reinhard Bonnke he had gone to heaven really pushed you out into the harvest fields.

Richard Hislop (07:53):
Yeah. So back at LA I’ll come to this and two seconds to go backtrack. In 2012, our church brought him in for a conference. It was a way it was actually a partnership between awaken the Dawn and the call with Lou Engle 2012 here in Fredericksburg, Virginia ride. Bonnke came in for that. And I finally, and that’s where the picture you see up that I got with him. That’s when I got at 2012 and he was commissioning us forth with the gospel. He was praying, you know, in his later years, he was all about raising up the next generation of Holy spirit evangelists and passing that Baton on. And I remember just weeping in the presence of the Lord saying, this is who I’m supposed to be. And in that moment, getting to meet my lifelong hero of the faith. And that’s when he signed and gave me his copy of his autobiography and just got to talk with him and him blessed me.

Richard Hislop (08:42):
And he prayed over all of us to be commissioned and his mantel to pass forward to us. And it was just, it was just amazing time and the power of God. But then I went for a couple years of just serving at my, our church and still working in the marketplace and trying to figure out, I know that sometime I’m going to go into full-time evangelists, but I didn’t have like some Vangelis mentor around me or coach. I didn’t necessarily know what, how, how do I make it that jump? How do I make that step? What do I do? And when is it going to happen? I’m just seeking the Lord. So I began just going on the streets, you know, the Todd white go with the gospel, you know, or the Reinhardt Bunky, just the one, the person, the one is you go. And I remember even commuting up to DC where I was working at the time and Chinatown just to and from work.

Richard Hislop (09:23):
I would just be sharing the gospel with people and laying hands on people that also like Heidi Baker, just loving that person in front of me. And I just knew that, you know, I just would start there. I would just start there even like Reinhard Bonnke began on the street corners with the accordion and at the bus stops. And I would just start there and someday the Lord would, it would, he would show me the next step. I just so happened. I’m in Fredericksburg, Virginia, but on the month, on the day of his passing, I it’s a, it’s a day. I will never forget in my entire life. And I was December 7th of 2019. That was the very day my work. And we’re, we all actually work virtually. We don’t normally do things like this. We’ve never been back to Florida since or anywhere. That’s the only time we’ve ever had a company event actually, where we were at a location together.

Richard Hislop (10:08):
And it was that very morning where we had a company event in Orlando, Florida, that I traveled down to Orlando and was there that morning. And I was at this company event that, you know, for my full-time job. And all of a sudden my wife sends me a text and I wasn’t really in the frame of mine, I was there for my job. I was there for work. I wasn’t in the frame of mind of, of, of what we’re doing. I was focused on, on our work annual conference. And I get the text from Lindsay and she said, Reinhart has just run. Her bunkie has just passed away. And the only way I know and, and went to heaven and she said, Richard, you know, and, and the only way I know how to describe it, it was like a Holy spirit to fibulator when off on my heart, I began to tear up man to cry.

Richard Hislop (10:54):
I’ve always worked people around me, the owner of our company, I’m sitting there with my phone and they’re like, what’s going on with Richard? I’m like, right. Her bunkie just passed away. I told this one guy to my left. He was like, who’s that? I’m like, I’m like, Oh, the great evangelist, you know, and I am shaken by this, like in the spirit, something is going on that I could not explain the week after we go to Melbourne’s coconut beach right there on the beach, just to get some time after that event day event, we were like, well, if we’re in Florida, let’s stay down here. And that with my wife and my kids, our three kids, we, we went and stayed at the beach for a week. And I was just, it was the only way I can describe it. I was like crying.

Richard Hislop (11:33):
It was like this, this, the Holy spirit was just doing the work on me. And he spoke to me and he said, Richard, now’s the time go preach the gospel, go preach. The gospel. America shall be saved. The nations shall be saved. Now’s the time will you go? And it was just, almost like even that from the Lord for me to say yes, and at the time we were doing business stuff, I had a business Mart. I was doing online marketing as well as my job. And I felt that invitation from the Lord to go. And my wife was even like, what’s, you know, it took us a little bit to figure out what’s going on. Like, what was going on in my heart? Like this, I wasn’t the same person. It was like this new touch from the Lord. And I ended up seeing a video.

Richard Hislop (12:15):
I was trying to search for Reinhard Bonnke on these videos and of what was happening, what was going like, Holy spirit, what are you doing? And I found the video on YouTube of Reinhar Bonnke and George Jeffrey’s of when he passed away. And he said he received a mantle. And I had never S I, for some reason, I had never seen that one before. And I also found another video where he said they shared that vision that I hadn’t heard before of Reinhard Bonnke in the future of these two personalities talking and when asked the other. And he said, whatever happened to that great evangelist right in our bunkie. And the other one said to him, Oh, he was just a 4runner for an entire generation of Holy spirit evangelists. And I remember that resonated in the Holy spirit, told me, and he said, you are one of those evangelists.

Richard Hislop (13:01):
I’ve called to go and preach the gospel. And I realized on that day, that is what happened. And it’s not that we get, like Reinhard Bonnke always said, it’s not like we get the anointing. The anointing comes from the Holy spirit and Jesus. But that, that, that Baton, that spirit of Elijah, like Reinhard, Bonnke, he always said it does pass or something that passes from generation to generation. And I don’t believe it’s just me. We’re seeing, you know, with the evangelists who can’t with all the stuff we got going on, we are seeing an entire generation of Holy, certain evangelists rise up. And I just believe I’m just one of those that the Lord has called. And I’ve just decided wholeheartedly to say, yes,

Evangelism Coach Daniel King (13:38):
Amen. Well, I think that’s the right attitude to have God is raising up a new generation of young people who are dedicated to telling people about Jesus, who are willing to go and sacrifice to whatever it takes to take the gospel of Jesus Christ to this generation. And so I’m very honored to be one of those successors of, of Reinhardt, Bunky and, and U2. And I know there are many others that God is raising up. And one of the things that, that Reinhardt told me many years ago, I got to meet him at a crusade in a Buddha Nigeria. And he told me Daniel, that, which is considered great today will be normal tomorrow. And so I think that with this generation of evangelists, we’re going to see not just one or two people doing large, massive crusades, but we are going to see dozens and even hundreds.

Evangelism Coach Daniel King (14:32):
And hopefully someday, even thousands of people going out and preaching the gospel and bring in the loss to Jesus Christ. Now you are launching out in ministry and you have a major outreach plant right here in America, which I think is wonderful because America needs just as much as any other part of the world. You know, sometimes we go to Africa and preach the gospel, but, but we also need to be preaching the gospel right here in our own backyard. And so you are planning in orange, Virginia, a big revival, a gospel crusade coming up just really soon. Tell me about the plans for that and what’s going to happen.

Richard Hislop (15:17):
Yeah, well, it goes back to that time. In 2012, I was sitting there praying after Reinhard Bonnke speak. There was a room of 3000 people and I was, we were all in a time of intercession of the call and I was just praying and interceding after Reinhard Bonnke spoke, I was so eager and I was just quietly praying along with all these thousands of people. But I said, Lord, I had a heart for America because Reinhard Bonnke was the Lord had spoken around that America shall be saved. And I felt that resonating in my heart that the Lord was speaking to me that America should be saved as well as the nations that his heart was also for America. And I said, Lord, will you, will you use me to save America? I would just sit in there praying to myself quietly and worshiping logis while everybody else was, was doing this of thousands of people.

Richard Hislop (15:58):
And I was saying, would you use me to heal the sick? Would you use me to cast out the demons to deliver the people in the name of Jesus? God, would you use me to take your gospel all for your glory and to see America saved as I was praying this older man tapped me on the shoulder and I, and I looked at him and he said, he said, son, I was just walking through this auditorium. The Lord told me to come over to you. And I know there’s, I don’t know if this means anything to you, but he told me to come over to you in a Jace told me to tell you that the answer is yes. And, and, and he said, does that mean anything to you? And I was, I was just, tears began to come through my eyes and I just began.

Richard Hislop (16:33):
I told them what I was praying. And he would think that someone just gave him the world from what I told them, he was so excited to hear that. So this comes along with that vision of what the Lord’s spoken to me over the years. And when Reinhard Bonnke passed, he’d still, he said, Richard America shall be saved still. I’m just by faith. We’re going for it. And the Lord has opened doors. He lined me up with a group of intercessors that God spoke to them to turn their farm into a harvest field for the next like decade of harvest. It’s called the Orangeville, the dreams they make, but they were waiting for an evangelist. I somehow got invited to this prayer meeting and they heard my story and the Holy spirit just connected us. [inaudible] Exactly, exactly. And the Lord spoke to me if I had said yes to him, he’d be the one to open all the doors. And that was this, that it was just the first door that the Lord opened up for me. And and so we’re, I’m just going by faith. You know, it’s like Reinhardt said, right, God doesn’t sit with sitters, but he goes with goers and he works with workers and I’m just trying to listen to that and obey every way I can and go for it. And that’s exactly what we’re doing.

Evangelism Coach Daniel King (17:40):
Are you now full-time pursuing being in ministry.

Richard Hislop (17:44):
I am not full time yet. I still have my remote, my remote job. I believe going to be transitioning. The Lord spoken to me were to grow the ministry. I’m just going by faith in every single way that I can. And I believe that these is going to create the way for me to in the near future to go full time. What types of things you might eventually, what type of job do you do? I I’m actually an it security. I work on government contracts. I’ve worked for a private company, but we have a lot of different government contracts. I do. Like I was a Cisco network engineer for years. And then I do for Scouts. I do a lot of network security work on contract, just fully remote.

Evangelism Coach Daniel King (18:19):
Interesting, because launching out into ministry is a huge step of faith. And of course, you’re, you’re married. You have three kids, you need to take care of your kids, take care of your family. And so sometimes it takes a few steps to get to the place where you can be launched out full-time in ministry. But, but I think while you’re doing that, you know, it’s wonderful that God has provided for you to, to take care of your family through a secular job. And in God will use you in, in the, in that secular job. You know, we are called to be a shining light in a dark world. And sometimes the secular world can be very dark. So God needs some shining lights, some evangelists in the secular realm. But I, I think that it’s commendable that you’re not waiting until everything is ready. You’re just launching out in faith right now with whatever resources you have. Has that been a big step of faith for you? What what’s that been like?

Richard Hislop (19:19):
Yeah. I mean, it’s, it’s, it’s been a step of faith, but you know, the reading Reinhart’s autobiography really helped me understand, Oh, look where he started, look what he did. And of course I know he just watched out and, and some people are called that just like, you know, they hear the voice of the Lord, Hey, leave your job. And you gotta go and obey that. But then some other people like me where the Lord hasn’t said that exactly yet, but he’s told me to go and he’s told me to go and preach. And then he opened the door and he told me that orange shall be saved. So, you know, and that I should go there. And so it, it takes the step of faith and the sacrifice with the family. But you know, when God calls us to do something, I believe he gives us the grace to do it and forget and do it successfully.

Richard Hislop (20:01):
And so that’s where I’m just doing everything. I can. One of the things that really impacted me of Daniel Kolenda sharing a testimony with Reinhard before they opened the Orlando event was when, when Reinhardt spoke to them, to him, he immediately met with Daniel and said, look, this is what the Lord has spoken to me. And, and Dana was like, well, what do we do? It’s like a Sunday. And he’s like, when the, and Reinhardt told Daniel, he said, when the Lord speaks, I want him to see me jump. And I was like, that just has so resonated with me of like, when you speak something in some way and whatever I can do, even if the next step is, read your book, even if it’s get with the Lord. And, and, and so my time is just pursuing the Lord for the answer. There’s always something that is the next step that we can do for the Lord to see us jump. And that is just what I’m trying to do here. And I’m walking through every open door that he gives and he brings, and it is that leap of faith. It is getting out on the water like Peter, but I want to be the one that walked out on the water, not the disciples, watching Peter sitting in the boat.

Evangelism Coach Daniel King (21:07):
So what are some of your strategies in orange, Virginia to draw lost people to the event? How are you there? This is a very challenging time. I mean, people are still struggling with, with COVID, it’s sometimes it’s difficult to get crowds of people together, but, but how are you attracting them? How are you planning to go fishing? What what’s, what bait are you using?

Richard Hislop (21:31):
Yeah. So one of the things I’ve done is just by watching and watching, see fan and just saying, Hey, I’m going to do that. So I scheduled a pastor’s luncheon and we had a vision luncheon, you know, I’m just figuring this out. People might say, Oh, look, Richard, he’s done this before. I’ve never done this before. I’m just seeing other evangelists saying, well, you know what, I’m going to do that. And I’m going to try that and I’m going to try this. So we print it out. We, we cast the vision with local pastors, what we’re doing, they’re super excited. They’ve been praying for this for their region. So we’re finding relationships there. All of a sudden, you know, we have local churches that are going to be excited about helping us develop here. I think one of the ways is we’re doing open air crusade.

Richard Hislop (22:08):
So it’s a little bit, it’s a, it’s a, it’s not in any given church, but it’s out in the open, it’s out on a farm field. So that, that being an open air that I think that’s going to help with draw people in and ease people. But at the same time, we’re having food trucks out. So we’ve invited local community food trucks to come and say, Hey, we’re having live music. We’re going to have local food trucks come on out and join us. We’ve gotten, you know, the Porter potties, we’ve done all these things that we’re working on doing. We’re also on private property. So we didn’t have to do go through per lo city permitting and all that, you know, check light, you know, those kinds of things. So that helped. But then also we printed out all these flyers and we went out on the streets last weekend and we’re already seeing sold save from just handing out flyers and evangelizing a witnessing right there.

Richard Hislop (22:53):
So that’s the other thing is just going out with flyers and evangelizing, right? They’re letting people receive a touch from the Lord, a miracle from the Lord, because that word will also spread, not waiting for the crusade, but going out like they do in Africa, I’ve been watching. I was just like, you know what, I’m going to try all this. And we’re going to go out. And we’ve been asking local businesses and they were letting us post up and posted the flyers up in their window. They told us to just every time we come by, put the flyers on cars and that we were okay to do that. Because you know, we, we would go in and we would witness to the managers. They would get, you know, the manager and food lion got so touched by the Lord the other day that he said, Hey, you guys come, I’m donating five cases of water you to your crusade.

Richard Hislop (23:34):
You guys come whenever you want, put your flyers up to everybody. If they’re in the parking lot, just stick them on all the cars, whatever you guys need. And it’s because we went out and we shared the love of Jesus the other, and, you know, we were handing out Bibles to people that gave their lives to the Lord and then inviting them to the crusade. And so that’s one of the strategies. The other one is I’m going to try to get I’m working on now getting up a new Facebook ad that geo targets everybody within a 25 mile radius of orange, Virginia as well for the event of the Facebook event. So I’m working on doing that. So a lot of this is we’re just figuring it out as we go, we’re going by faith. We’re looking at maybe what other people are doing, and then we’re just trying it.

Evangelism Coach Daniel King (24:13):
Well, I think that’s so wonderful. Sometimes you just got to step out of the boat. You just got to get started, keep your eyes on Jesus and keep going towards Jesus. And you’ll see God do some, some amazing miracles. So I think you’re doing all the right things. And he just going and talking to people. So sometimes people find it easy to do something in Africa. And they’re wondering, how am I going to do something here in America? Well, this is how you do it. You just go find it community that has some needs, go start talking to people about Jesus. And when he talks to people about Jesus, God will open up their hearts to receive, and you will see fruit. And so unbelieving that you’re going to see a great harvest. And I believe this will be the first of many harvest that you will experience. And, and God’s just going to give you tremendous resources and creative ideas, and God will give you friendships that will help you to reach people for Jesus. And, and so, and I love your passion and your excitement for evangelism. That’s just wonderful. So let’s, let’s finish up with a word of prayer. Can you pray for this upcoming event that you have just pour out everything that, that God’s been telling you to pray for and, and let’s, let’s pray for America to be saved.

Richard Hislop (25:26):
Let’s do it. Yes, father, we just thank you so much for what you’re doing and your plan for America, Lord, that it’s not just your plan to save the nations alone. Lord, you came and you died for the whole world. You died for whoever so would believe and call upon your name would be saved. God. And thank you for your plan specifically, even for this event in orange, Virginia, and the ongoing crusades we’re even going to have on this field more God for a decade of harvest, I believe in Jesus name, God, I just pray that you would, that as people see the flyers, as they’ve been receiving and hearing about this event, that your Holy spirit would draw the community. As the pastors are announcing this event in their churches, Lord, that the people would be drawn to come out for this event. Lord, I just thank you that you’re going to draw all the, this community to this field Lord, by the power of your Holy spirit, God, so that the loss would even be drawn to come.

Richard Hislop (26:23):
They would even be drawn to come and to see and to be on this field Lord, to hear the good news of the gospel of Jesus Christ that even America would be saved. Thank you, Lord, that your desire is to save America, your desires to heal America. Your desire is to deliver America from all demonic. God, your desires to heal the sick for you are the same yesterday, today and forever. And just as we just continue on your ministry, God and obey the calling of God on our lives to preach your glorious gospel until your return. Jesus, we thank you that you’re going to draw the people. You’re going to give them eyes to see and ears to hear the truth. God, you’re going to convict the hearts of man should the truth of the gospel of Jesus Christ, to the knowledge of you, Jesus, as the only way to salvation Lord.

Richard Hislop (27:18):
And that’s your coming again to the truth of your death and your resurrection and your coming, God that the kingdom of heaven is at hand God, we just pray God that your truth would go forth in America. That we would just as Reinhardt and see fan has been seeing a blood washed Africa, God, that we are going to now in the name of Jesus, see a blood washed America in Jesus mighty name because of your gospel Lord, we’re going to see it. We’re going to go Lord. And we’re going to preach the gospel and God eyes. I pray even for this event on the 24th, just like Reinhardt said, when the gospel is preached, the gospel happens and God, we just pray. And we thank you that as the gospel is preached in orange, Virginia, the gospel is going to happen that the loss are going to be saved.

Richard Hislop (28:04):
The lost are going to be healed in Jesus’ name, the gospel. And it’s going in in the loss are going to be saved, healed, and delivered in Jesus name from all demonic. Demonically oppressed people. God, they’re going to be delivered father by the power of your name, Jesus for you are the same yesterday, today and forever. The evangelism podcast. I’m Daniel King, and I’m excited to tell people about Jesus. And today I have a very special guest. Paul Lodato is the general manager of Christian television network in South Florida. Thank you so much for being on here

Paul Lodato (01:14):
With me today. Well, I’m honored to be here on the evangelism podcast and having known you for at least 25 years. It is definitely a delight.

Evangelism Coach Daniel King (01:24):
Let’s start by telling a little bit of your story. How did you get involved in Christian television?

Paul Lodato (01:32):
Definitely God hand picked me out of the crowd, rather Daniel. My father dies and I’m three months old. My mom used to be on the mission field with Dr. TL and Daisy Osborn, fifties and sixties. We moved to Tulsa, Oklahoma, where your wonderful ministry is based that God has given you. And I worked for a company called Impact Productions that then sold that division to Faith Highway. And we had about 30 of us that were part of the marketing division, working with pastors all over the country. We sold outreach evangelism, TV commercials. Soul-Winning commercials that we put on MTV and ESPN and bet. And we partnered with Mel Gibson’s people to promote the passion of the Christ. Those are some quick highlights. And then we had an in-house media agency. We had an edit suite little did I know that God was training me for something I didn’t see.

Paul Lodato (02:18):
That’s why when you follow God’s plan, you have to walk by faith and not by sight. And many times he leads you on the backside of the desert. You do things that you say, well, how does this relate to my calling Lord, but he’ll lead you those ways sometimes. And so I stayed faithful to that for about four years. And God gave me a gift of music. I came out to sing at a big mega church in Tampa, Florida, Randy, and Paula white back then. And had a lot of favor there and I knew, and they wanted to hire me, but God was telling me go back into Christian media. So I worked at a Salem communications radio network for about six months. Little did I know God was setting me up. I walked into interview for what I thought was a sales position at our national headquarters and founder and president Bob Dan Andrei hired me in July of 2005 to manage the Christian television network affiliate here in Southwest Florida, which is the Fort Myers Naples, Florida region. For those that are listening or watching this podcast.

Evangelism Coach Daniel King (03:12):
And you’ve really built this up over the years, really by the grace of God. Tell me some of the challenges and the things that you’ve gone through as you’ve built this ministry to reach people here in South Florida.

Paul Lodato (03:24):
Well, it’s because of the wonderful people, you know, we’re viewer supported and, and in that though, we’re very careful because unfortunately sometimes the gospel has been represented in Christian TV where when you ask for dollars to help fund the vision, if you will sometimes people misquote scriptures out of context to get people’s money. And I’m just a firm believer that if you do it, God’s way you’ll never lack the support if you do it God’s way. And so it, the word in ministry or in life is perseverance and remaining faithful, even when you don’t see it and trusting in the Lord with all your heart leaning, not to your own understanding and all your ways acknowledge him and he will direct your path. And so Daniel, all I can say is it’s not by my mind or my power, but it’s by his spirit.

Paul Lodato (04:13):
And it takes a whole team of people just like wonderful ministry. God has entrusted to you. It takes a team of people to do what God has called you to do, where you’re reaching the nations of the earth and over 70 countries and millions of lives are being transformed because of what God has entrusted to you. Well, that’s the same, you know, TV as an air force, it’s a vehicle, it’s not a miracle pill, but it certainly can enhance the message of the gospel. The message of the gospel never changes, but the way we deliver it must in a sight and sound generation culture. And so as I look on the climate, if you will, the spiritual climate of Christian TV, I believe God put me in Christian TV and my wife and my team as change agents. Why, why not say, Oh, we have all the answers, but to say that we can do the greater works of Jesus. And we need to show that we need to show, I love, I love the book, the, your latest book proof that God is real. We need to show people that the proof that God is real visually and this type of call.

Evangelism Coach Daniel King (05:08):
Sure. One of the things you said really caught my attention. You said that the television ministry is like the air force. And I think that’s really great because you’re going in over the airwaves to tell people about Jesus and there’s many different giftings in the body of Christ. You have the evangelist, I’m an evangelist. And so you probably call me like the Marine, the Marines, the special ops are the first ones that go in in to break into new territory. And then you’ve got the regular army. They’ve got boots on the ground. You know, those are pastors, faithful servants of the Lord, but you also need an air force in order to take over a country. And so you’re doing that as a Christian television station, but let’s talk a little bit about the money issue. I think that there has been some issues in Christian television, where were all the different ministries talk about how they’re saving the whole world.

Evangelism Coach Daniel King (06:04):
We’re, we’re saving the world. They all say we’re saving the world, but many of them really have lost the true evangelistic heart. And they’re not really preaching the gospel anymore. Sometimes there’s this survival of the fittest in Christian television, where there everyone’s trying to pay the television bills, get on new stations. And it’s not the best gospel preachers that stay on. Sometimes it’s the best beggars that stay on. And I think that it does dishonor to the Lord when a ministry is only focused on money instead of focused on preaching the gospel. How do you make sure that you keep the main thing, the main thing and state focused on preaching the gospel,

Paul Lodato (06:50):
Man? I sure appreciate that question. And you know, I concur with you wholeheartedly just because somebody on Christian television doesn’t always mean it equates with the gospel. And the Bible says in John, that you’re supposed to test the spirit just because they have a known name, you got to test the spirit and the culture we live in today. We have such a watered down gospel. It’s not the gospel itself help it’s. It becomes you know, and everything has its place. We thank God for every minister. We understand there’s no perfect church, no perfect pastor, but shame onto a Christianity that, that begs people for money. You know, here’s the reality. There’s an old saying. People give to vision, not to need. If you sincerely just cast the vision of what God has called you to do, whether you’re an evangelist, listen to this or watching this whatever sphere of influence the Lord has planted you in cast the vision sincerity people give when you’re authentic and genuine.

Paul Lodato (07:44):
And yes, there are bills to play and it pay. And it’s very expensive. And most of the time Christian TV has funded three ways, airtime revenue, production, revenue, and then donations. What happens is though many times people put such an emphasis on those donations, but the reality is people that give they’re the ones that normally give are an older audience that are given $20 a month, $10 a month. It’s not the large gifts. What happens is though if you’re authentic and you just cast a vision and say, here’s what we’re doing, you don’t have to manipulate people. You don’t have to miss quote scriptures out of context, to get people’s money. The Lord will see to it that whatever he’s assigned and called you to do the money will come in. And that’s what we’ve seen here. We’d spent a million dollars building a television studio, and then you know, a brand new transmission line you’ve been out here on the property, 1700 feet of transmission line, a brand new antenna, a million and a half dollars over the last few years.

Paul Lodato (08:37):
And not because of me, it’s because of the people that have stood up and be counted. Are we still paying some of those bills? Yes. But you know, I’ve never seen the righteous forsaken or his seed begging for bread. So if you’re a believer in Jesus Christ, you better not be up there on Christian TV or media outlets begging for money. You can certainly say, Hey, give as you purpose in your, not out of compulsion, but give as you purpose in your heart. And that’s what people need to do. That’s what I love about what you do. You, you say, Hey, help me $1 a day for the gospel. You know, $1 day for the gospel, you’re casting the vision. You’re saying, here’s why we need to do this, but you’re certainly not manipulating people and knowing you for 25 years, I know you’re not a manipulator.

Paul Lodato (09:13):
You’re very genuine, authentic, and integritous person. That’s why I appreciate what you do. And that’s what I would say is, you know, Christian media, we could wrap this whole thing up and, and all, all of us working together. If we learn to stop competing and being territorial and say, let’s complete, let’s be about the great commission. Not the great cement suggested as my good friend, pastor better says the great commission is what it’s about. And like you said, that’s what we have to go back to as Christian media. Those of us that are in Christian media and managers, those of you that may have a TV show or, or, or, or doing podcasts or doing some type of digital media platform, we have to go back to what the Bible says. And if we aim to honor God’s word, Hey, he said, I’ll watch over my word to perform it. Not our song, not our agenda, nothing else, but Jesus, if it all goes back to Jesus, guess what? He’s going to blow on it. And you’re going to see the fruit that remains.

Evangelism Coach Daniel King (10:10):
Let’s talk about the impact that Christian television can have. You know, there’s a lot of different ways of doing evangelism. You can do one-on-one evangelism. You can go out on the street, preach on the street corner. You can do mass crusade, evangelism light, like what I do, and w Reinhardt, Bunky, and T, and TL Osborn pioneered in different nations around the world. And so there’s a lot of different methods and ways. And, and Christian television is definitely one of those methods that God uses to bring people to Jesus. Do you have some testimonies of, of lives that have been changed because of the ministry of what Christian television network does here?

Paul Lodato (10:46):
Daniel, it’s amazing. I’ve been doing this now, 16 years managing this affiliate. And I have seen it time and time again, been guests on other TV networks by God’s grace, my wife and I, and I have seen where people in prisons I’ve had. I’ve had, you know, people elderly people. I had one lady talk about, you know, I was standing on the air and we did we used to do a show called ministry moments. My wife and I, we were praying for people. We’d take the call and we’d just sincerely pray, but we’d pray. According to the word, we’d always give him the scripture. And my producer would show them the scripture, okay, you have this need. Here’s what the Bible says, concern this need, you know, so they wouldn’t idolize, man. We don’t want them to idolize us. We want them to idolize Jesus.

Paul Lodato (11:26):
You know, after we’ve left, we haven’t left them nothing. We haven’t left them Jesus much like when you do a crusade. And so one of the testimonies, excuse me, one of the testimonies that came in was a lady said, Hey, you know she calls me after the broadcast. And at the very end, I decided I don’t normally do. As I said, Hey, it costs money to, to bring this show to you on the air. And, and to produce this, if you’d like to give something, as you purpose in your heart, you can give safe insecurely online on our website or, you know, call the station. We had it up. The number on the screen, whatever’s in your heart. Didn’t say nothing else. It was just that simple lady calls me about 15 minutes later, this was back in 2013. I’ll never forget it. She says, do you have a, an office in Naples, Florida?

Paul Lodato (12:07):
I said, I wish I did, but we don’t. But we certainly broadcast there. And she goes, well, I’m calling on behalf of so-and-so and we are watching a Naples. Are you going to be speaking or singing there anytime soon? She obviously knew I sang or spoken. She must’ve watched part of the broadcast or something. I said, yes, yes, ma’am. And my wife was ministered on that with me. And and we did a salvation call, et cetera. And all of a sudden, she says, well, we want to, we want to give you something. I said, well, I’ll be be there in, in, in two days. My wife and I, and it’s a Saturday service as pastors asked me to come to. So I’ll be there. She goes, okay, can I have your phone number? And and I don’t normally give out my cell number like that, but something said, go ahead and just, I said, sure, we want to meet you there.

Paul Lodato (12:51):
I said, okay. And I was very focused on the service. That was a Thursday. I’ll never forget it. We’re driving down there. 40 miles away, Naples, Florida. And it was a Saturday and I get a text and the lady said, we’re going to meet you there. We’re on our way. I said, babe, if I’m with the pastor you know, getting prepared just go out there and meet him and sure enough right before I was getting ready to go up she came back there. I gave her one of my CDs and all of a sudden there was a little card now I didn’t have a chance to open it. Cause they were getting ready to call me up on the platform. But I thanked her. Totally forgot about it. Cause God, God blessed that service and totally forgot about it. Driving home.

Paul Lodato (13:27):
We’re almost home. I said, Oh babe, go ahead and open it. We were talking about the salvation and the healings and what God did in the service. I said, Hey, don’t forget. This lady came by. It was a card and I’ll never forget this testimony, Daniel. She said, I’ve been watching you for a year. She goes, I’m going through a divorce. I don’t want to be on a mailing list. I don’t want to be on a mailing list. I’m moving to California. She goes, but this gift is because I’ve seen your faithfulness. And it was $20,000 for the work of the Lord here. And you know, I’ve had little instances like that. I’m not saying, Oh, every time you’re going to get a, but I never forget it. It wasn’t about the money. I thank God for that. I mean, that was huge, you know, but it was about, she was watching the integrity, not because of me, God’s grace, but she was watching.

Paul Lodato (14:09):
So two, two, and then I’ve had people in, in nursing homes, prisons. It’s amazing people that flipped by the dial in the middle of the night, we have a a live prayer meeting. You called you and me that our network does nationwide and we air it here. You’re on in Tulsa. So it comes in on my channel. I see it. Yeah. K whb used to be the let’s affiliate, our wonderful manager, Tom Flynn there. And we’re on in Tulsa. And it’s amazing how, how God uses the vehicle of television. It can be a powerful tool. It can certainly enhance what God has called you to do, but it should not be your end all be all. Hey, if I can just be on TV, quote, unquote, my ministry has made, first of all, it’s not your ministry. It’s his ministry. We’re just conduits and stewards of that ministry.

Paul Lodato (14:55):
He’s entrusted to us. And so that’s what I’ve seen. I’ve seen a lot of miracles of healings, a lot of salvations that have taken place, just like you’ve seen on the, on the crusade grounds. Well, you know, there’s an old saying by John Osteen Joel Osteene’s father, he used to say, he who owns the city, owns the airwaves. It’s a vehicle. Look, look, look, what’s happening in our media culture today, our media driven culture. There’s no truth in it. Generally speaking, you know, Christian TV is still the purest form of media out there. If it’s done the right way, you know, with an emphasis on the great commission and if it’s done the right way and that, and so you kind of alluded to some of the pitfalls that has hurt the gospel more than helped it. I always say shame on to anybody. That’s wanting to get on Christian TV for a wrong motive and, and manipulate people for their money.

Evangelism Coach Daniel King (15:39):
Well, I’m so grateful that God has placed you here in this position because you have a genuine, genuine heart for souls, a heart for helping people. And that’s what we need. We need to use television as a tool to reach people for Jesus. And it’s so powerful. You could tell a vision television of her, what God has for their, their, for their life. Your wife has written a book. Tell me about the, the book that your wife.

Paul Lodato (16:05):
Yes. It’s a book she wrote called I’ve accepted Jesus. What just happened? And she didn’t grow up in the church. And one time she was talking to me in like 2015, she was in the club scene. Her testimony is amazing. And she says, Paul, you know, after people run to the altar, they got to know who they are in Christ and they need to understand why they got saved. And I’m afraid that we’re not communicating that always that well, I said, well, why don’t you write a book about it? And she goes, I’m not an author. I don’t see myself writing a book. All of a sudden she started praying about Laura said, write about, write about it. She said, I started feeling like I was just his typing for him. And so she, she wrote this book, it’s a little mini book. We give it away on the air on, you know, CTN, television.com and different and our whole network carries it now in English, Spanish.

Paul Lodato (16:48):
We have it in Tahlia and we have it in Farsi in the Muslim world cause we air on it and you know, Spanish. And and then at our personal website, light of the word.tv, people can just download it right there. Or@Ctntelevision.Com, they can just download it safe and securely free. And as long as they never sell it, they can just take it. And and it just tells them who they are in Christ. They’re free from sin that, you know, what God has made them to be and the plan of salvation. So it’s a powerful resource that, you know, just like what you’re doing with this podcast, you’re trying to get the gospel out, trying to help empower people in their callings. And so I just thank God for every evangelist and we, you know, we’re all the five fold. We’re all fitly joined in the body, working together. And if we learn to complete one another, instead of compete with one another, man, we could wrap this thing up and I’ll go back

Evangelism Coach Daniel King (17:37):
Home to heaven. W what advice would you give to a ministry or a pastor, maybe a young evangelist who, who has it in their heart to do something for television? What advice would you give to them?

Paul Lodato (17:50):
Well, I have another free resource that I give to anybody that reaches out to me. If they get ahold of you on your podcast and say, Hey, I want it. I have a document called TV one Oh one. I’d be glad to give it to you, Daniel. And you can just share it wherever. It’s some practical tools I’ve learned from people that, you know, like Phil cook, who adjunct professor at ORU is a different,

Evangelism Coach Daniel King (18:10):
I remember reading Phil Cook’s book, it’s called the, the, the, the last TV evangelists. And I said, I’m kind of upset you wrote this because you know, it, can there be just one more? Can I be the last one? Yeah, he’s great. He’s been out here several times. Got brilliant books on branding and helping ministries great books that if you’re wanting to be in television, definitely get, get a Phil Cook’s book. Yeah.

Paul Lodato (18:34):
One of his books is called successful Christian television. So he was just here with me in November. But we we’ve we have a little documents called television. One-On-One people like Ted bear with movie guys, other people that the Lords allow me to, to learn from over the years. And I went to speak at a media slash pastors conference for a bunch of pastors and media directors in Dallas, Texas years ago. And I had this document. I didn’t think nothing of it, but it was such a blessing that people in the class were asking me for it. And I said, sure. And so I’ve just learned to give it to anybody. And it has some good questions. Some of the research I’ve done as to why do you believe you need to be doing Christian TV? Is this really what you need to be doing?

Paul Lodato (19:12):
I would first say this. If you ha, if you aspire to be on Christian television, you need to make sure you have a great website. First. I thank God for all the digital media platforms, but the website you control. So that’s my first suggestion. Make sure you have a great website and, and get that look. There’s an old saying, people see you before they hear you. So make sure your stuff looks excellent. You put God’s name on something, make it look right. No, El CISO Christian TV. We’ve got a lot of cheesy looking stuff and Christian TV, and it’s not a representation of the gospel. I understand it takes money to do ministry, but if you’re going to do Christian TV, you do need to count the cost. And then you need to, first of all, say, Lord, is this a direction you have for me?

Paul Lodato (19:52):
And certainly if they have that direction, I mean, if I can point them in the right direction, we’d love to do that. That folks are w you know, your friends in Tulsa. We’ve got a great outlet. Now there, we have 22 affiliates in strategic markets. CTN does where nationwide on direct TV, three 76 dish network, two 67, Gloria star, satellite channel one 17, and the app star seven. We just finished an interview together on the contending for the faith show. And there’ll be able to watch that across the CTN network, and maybe you’ll have it on your website at some point or on your podcasts, make it available to them about what God has called you to do with, with Daniel King and King ministries. But it is, it is a definite refreshing, very refreshing to see someone like you, Daniel, that care about the gospel and just using all the tools that are available to people.

Paul Lodato (20:40):
So, yes Christian TV is certainly a vehicle. It’s an option for people. And if you’re saying, Hey, that’s what I want to do in a COVID world. You know, you can use digital media platforms, but getting on TV is a good vehicle that can enhance what God has called you to do. I’ve had some, some pastors come on the air, some evangelists that have come on the air since COVID hit. Cause they was like, man, I want to maximize my reach so it can enhance, but make sure you’re doing it God’s way because God don’t bless a mess. I mean, he’s loving, he’s gracious and his mercy is there, but do it the right way.

Welcome to The evangelism podcast. I’m Daniel King and I’m excited about telling people about Jesus. And today I have a great evangelists with me, Michael Joe. Thank you so much for being with me today.

Michael Job (01:06):
Well, thank you so much, Dr. Daniel King, you have impacted my life so much in your teaching. I would not know how to do my crusades without you. So thank you.

Evangelism Coach Daniel King (01:15):
What’s really unique about your ministry is that you started out being perfect. You played the part of Jesus. Tell me about that and how you played the part of being Jesus. Well

Michael Job (01:27):
Kind of grew into it, born in Bethlehem, and then now I’m kidding. Basically I ended up working with Trinity broadcasting network TBN and I was working there since 2004. I started crucifying Jesus, but gradually I became Jesus. And the, the, the honor of that is that in between the shows, I’m an evangelist. So I wasn’t there for acting in between the shows I would go out. I would pray for the audience and just see people get saved and healed the great thing after the Christ for all nations Reinhardt, Bunky, school of evangelism. I never really saw people healed before that. And he said, Friday, you start your ministry. And I went back to work and on Friday, like 40 people got healed was in downtown Orlando. A deaf person got healed and every single day, since then in 2013, I saw people get physically healed in the park between shows. It was really awesome to see what Jesus will do. If you just step out

Evangelism Coach Daniel King (02:25):
What a tremendous experience you played, the part of Jesus acting, but then you actually got to do what Jesus did. And that’s, what’s really amazing is that as believers, we can actually do what Jesus did. Jesus prayed for the sick and saw them healed. And Jesus Christ the same yesterday, today, and forever followers of Jesus can go pray for the sick and Jesus proves that he’s alive and, and heals them. And so it’s tremendous, but you have a tremendous heart for evangelism, and you’ve really got connected with Christ for all nations ministry of Daniel Kolenda. And you’ve been doing evangelism with them. I remember that you were in some of the training sessions early on that I got to teach in. And then you took that training and went to Africa and started preaching. Tell me some of what God did there while you were in Africa.

Michael Job (03:18):
Yeah. You first taught us in 2018 and it was in port Harcourt, Nigeria. And through your training, we were able to captivate the audience’s attention all the way throughout the message, which was awesome and amazing. We saw many people give their lives to the Lord. After that, we went to Togo, we went to NACUBO Kenya. We went to Abbey, Yokota, Nigeria, and then Tanzania this past fall and just seeing hundreds of thousands. And it’s not an exaggeration because we would go to schools and we would see like 2000 students just in one school, give their life to Jesus and totally surrender. And I love a lot of the principles that, that you gave us in capturing their attention throughout the message, how to work with the translator. So important in a foreign country. A lot of the principles that you put forth in our lives still remain to this day. And I couldn’t thank God enough for you. So

Evangelism Coach Daniel King (04:10):
And so in some of these different countries, you, you’ve got to go into some of the different schools and you would preach the gospel. There, you have a great way of just capturing the attention of the children. Kind of walk me through what that looks like. Like what would you say if you went into a school and you wanted to lead a group of children to Jesus, how would that go?

Michael Job (04:32):
Well, I, I mean, Bo basically all of the, all of the teachers get the students to come together and then we, we just give a quick, hello, it’s a very short time. We do a quick gospel message. That’s easy to understand for kids, give them an opportunity. Then they get the opportunity to receive the gift of the Holy spirit. And we end them with a song and it’s wonderful. We also do truck preaching and I’ve done some crusades since then, actually the first time that you taught us and how to do crusade ministry, I was going to Poland right after that. And I couldn’t thank God God enough, because I was like, you taught us exactly what we needed to do. And then I used it in Poland and I worked in Poland. The word of God works, no matter where you go, you preach it. God will work.

Evangelism Coach Daniel King (05:20):
Amen. And so then I remember one time I showed you like a little sticker with three circles on it and it’s called the three circle method of a witnessing. Oh, there you have it right on the back of your, your, your cell phone. And so you printed it and you’ve got Michael jo.org on there. And so how’s that been going? It does it, does that work to help lead people to Jesus?

Michael Job (05:41):
Yes. there’s a few ways that I try to train people and how to reach a harvest for Christ. I love training in the Evangel cube, but it’s kind of expensive in this. I’ve found very effective in every single city in Poland that I went to, I do evangelism trainings and we were able to print this out and give it to every single person, including in Africa, big, bigger churches. Every person gets a sticker and we practice on sharing the gospel with this sticker. And one of the first times I used it here in Orlando, it was with a smaller group, a home Bible study by Daniel Merani Chenko. And the wonderful thing is, is that right after that, the students went out sharing the gospel. There was a, there was, there was a, a girl that never shared the gospel before. She just shared the simple, simple sticker with a pastor’s son who never received Christ. And he received Jesus 19 years old receiving Jesus. The first time a pastor son, the pastor must’ve been praying for ever and ever, and a girl for the first time, the first soul ever reaches a pastor son by preaching the gospel in a very simple way. And after that, we still see many people get saved through evangelism techniques that you have taught us. So we thank you so much for

Evangelism Coach Daniel King (06:56):
That’s awesome. Now, just recently you were in Tanzania and you had the opportunity to do your own crusade there, but you only have like nine days to set it up from, from beginning to end. And so sometimes you can do a lot of preparation for a crusade. Sometimes you can just go and, and do it. And so that’s what you did. You went in and did it tell me what were the results of that? What were some of the things that God did at that Christmas?

Michael Job (07:19):
Well originally we were looking to do a parent outreach, the parents of the kids for the schools. And so we had one scheduled on Sunday. It was in my heart to do another one. And, and the, the scripture union who, who were working with her, they said, well, why don’t you try this other field? And originally when I saw it, I was like, no, I can’t do it. There. There’s all these drug addicts and drunks. And I prayed about it. And all of a sudden the Holy spirit came and went food. And God said, I want you to go there. Then I want you to do something. I stepped up on the ground and the Holy spirit came. And so we were like, okay, I’m going to try it. So, nine days later, we’re in the midst of our crusade where there’s several churches on board, several choirs.

Michael Job (07:57):
We took a trucks around the city. We did evangelism teams several days before the crusade, about a hundred people would get saved per day on the evangelistic teams during the crusade. It was only nine days of preparation. But we did see 435 decisions for Jesus. It was in the most dangerous part of all of Doris Salaam, a block and a half away from a Muslim training center. One of the biggest Muslim training centers in Tanzania. And it was basically a place where you see a lot of drunk addicts, drunk drunkards, and basically God took them out of the pit of hell and brought them into the kingdom of God because God was willing to speak. And we just had to go.

Evangelism Coach Daniel King (08:36):
And, and so you even printed flyers, how many flyers

Michael Job (08:39):
Were you able to print out? It was week four for that outreach. We did 70 or 80,000 flyers. We also printed, printed personal letters in personal envelopes to 10,000 students and 10 different schools and invited the parents of the, of children to the outreach. And we even did a raffle at the end. We gave away a cell phone bicycle, and several footballs every single day to try to get people to come and bless the community.

Evangelism Coach Daniel King (09:06):
Well, what a tremendous success that is to put it all together only nine days. And you managed to print all the flyers, send out evangelism trucks, send out evangelism. That just goes to show that God is willing to work anywhere. Anytime, if someone will just go and get started and just try to make it happen. And you, you made it happen. What a, what a tremendous blessing it is. Did you see some miracles at that event?

Michael Job (09:32):
Oh, yes. Yeah. There was one woman who was deaf in one ear. She could hear, there were several stomach tumors that were healed and all pain left their body. And they were dancing. There was one woman with a leg pain and she got healed. And other woman with the neck pain, she got healed. And there was, there was a, the first day I prayed for the sick and there was a big line coming. We couldn’t do all the testimonies because of the time, but there was a God showed up big time. There was a one precious woman. She was a Muslim, she just got saved and she got healed. So she came on and she testified of what God did in her body. And she was totally healed and went to church that very week. And we saw some of those new converts who were Muslims just yet, yesterday. They were in church, saved, expecting a miracle in church, which was wonderful.

Evangelism Coach Daniel King (10:18):
That’s so amazing. And so you said that you did it in a place where all the drug dealers and the drunk people were, did some of the people that were addicted to drugs, did they get saved at the crusade?

Michael Job (10:30):
I’m supposing they were, I don’t really know.

Evangelism Coach Daniel King (10:34):
Did they come, did they, did they come and listen

Michael Job (10:36):
Some well, they couldn’t help, but listen, because there was trees and they were all like hanging out there and we did our crusade right in front of it. So, so they had to listen. They had front row seats for them. So praise God for that.

Evangelism Coach Daniel King (10:51):

Evangelism Coach Daniel King (11:20):
That’s awesome. All right. I want you to give an altar call. Imagine that you were standing on a field in Africa, and there are thousands of people there that are listening. You know, they’re there, it’s hot. The sun is beating down. People are thirsty and you’re trying to capture their attention and keep the, I know you’re very good at keeping people’s attention. Kind of give me like a five minute presentation of the gospel and an alter call. What would you do to help bring those people to Jesus and pretend like we’re actually out there on the field

Michael Job (11:54):
And you’re giving the altar call to them. All right. Well, if you know, God loves you. Wave your hand. Nice and high Yes. He loves you so much. I have a very, Very, very quick story. I want to share with you. See, there was a man who was very rich. He lived in this city and one day he said, I know what I’m going to do with my money money. I’m gonna buy a big house with a big bed. The man went to sleep. He heard a knock on the door. And when he opened the door, guess who was, who was Jesus? The man was amazed. He was like, Jesus caribou. Please come into my house. You can have the biggest house, the man Lentz asleep. And there was another knock this time. It was a different person. He opened the door, guests who we saw this time. It was the devil. Oh, the devil made him all mad. He gave him back pain. Oh, he gave him the pain. He gave him all this pain. The men woke up and he was mad at the Lord.

Michael Job (12:41):
He said, Lord, I’m a little mad at you. I let you in my house, in the devil’s in my house. And the Lord said, you only gave me one room. So the, he said, well, okay, I’ll give you every room. Except my bedroom. See, in my bedroom, there’s things that I do that are not right. That, that you would not want to see sex before marriage drugs, but you can have every other room the men want it goes to sleep. And there’s another knock. He opens up the door, guess who it is. Oh, it’s that devil again. And this time the devil tempts him with, with all this depression, with all these people, insulting him and been abusing him and hurting him. And the men woke up and he said, I can’t do this life anymore. And just as they said that Jesus tapped him on the shoulder.

Michael Job (13:18):
He looked around and, and Jesus said to you, didn’t try one thing hand over the keys of your house. To me, let me be the owner of the house. And I’ll let you live here around free. The man said, okay. And that night there was another knock. This time Jesus opened up the door cause he had the keys. And when Jesus opened up that door, the devil saw him and ran faster than he’s ever run. Before. The reason I tell you this story is because God doesn’t want to be in one room of your life. He doesn’t want to be in three rooms of your life. He wants to be in every room of your heart. Now, why do I talk about the Lord? Jesus? Because Jesus is the only one that came from heaven to earth for you. He’s the only one that led us sinless life for you.

Michael Job (13:54):
He’s the only one that died on the cross for you. He’s the only one that raised from the dead for you. He’s the only one that’s seated on the right hand. Throne of God, my friend, if you have sin in your life, that that devil is knocking on your door. And if you even have one sin, the wages of sin is death. One sin is enough to go to a devil’s hell, but I’m telling you one drop of the blood of Jesus is enough to cleanse you from all sin. See Jesus took your sins. He took my sins. He took your punishment. He took my punishment on that cross. His blood will cleanse you and he just didn’t die. But he Rose from the dead and he is alive. I want you to shout. Jesus Is alive. Jesus is, he is Alive today and he wants to come alive in your life. But just knowing that is not enough. You have to make a choice. Say, make a choice, make a choice. He wants to you to make a choice to receive him. Remember he is alive and he’s knocking on the door of your heart. He said, if any men will come in, he would knock and hear my and open the door. I will come in. Do you want Jesus in your life? Do you want to be forgiven of every sin? Are you willing to turn from your sins and turn in your, live your life for God? He loves you. He died for you. My question is, will you live your life for him? If you want Jesus, I want you to close your eyes. Yeah, you watching right now. We’re hearing right now. I want you to close your eyes.

Michael Job (15:11):
Now as the time of salvation, it’s not tomorrow. It’s not next week. It’s as right now, if you want to make a choice for the Lord, close your eyes, lift up your hands and say, Jesus, everyone. Shout Jesus. Come into my life. Be my Lord. Be my, be my savior. Thank you for dying for me. Thank you for dying. Thank you for raising from the dead. Thank you for raising. I surrender all of my life to you. Surrender all of my life to be my Lord and savior my Lord in Jesus name. Jesus. Amen. You just said that you are born again. You have Jesus, you are forgiven and you have the gift of heaven. Wow. That is tremendous. You are a master evangelist, Michael, that was just so captivating and what a tremendous way to share the gospel. And I know that if you were on the fields of Africa, the whole field would get saved.

Waldy Bershe (01:07):
Yes. Yeah. Thank you for having me. It’s an honor. So we met

Evangelism Coach Daniel King (01:10):
In the nation of Sweden at a meeting of ACE, the association of campaign evangelists, which has many different Europeans and Scandinavian evangelists who work together to preach the gospel of Jesus Christ. And so we met and right after that trip, I was scheduled to go to Egypt and you came and said, can I go on a trip with you sometime? And I said, what are you doing next week? Let’s go to Egypt together. And you said, sure. And so you, you jumped right on that trip. What were some of the things that you remember that God did in?

Waldy Bershe (01:48):
Yeah, we’ve preached in a couple of different cities, like Cairo or Alexandria, and we preached to, to Sudanese refugees and we saw how Muslims came to Christ. We had a pastors and leaders seminar and we taught them and evangelism. And it was life-changing. I learned from you, you are very experienced when it comes to evangelism and it was an honor to join you. And yeah, yeah. I thought that

Evangelism Coach Daniel King (02:13):
Event in Alexandria was really cool because we looked some at the history of Alexandria, the first evangelist to go there was Mark the gospel writer. And so the legend is the, as he came into Alexandria, his shoe broke and he took it to the local shoe maker. And as the shoe maker was working on the shoe, the, the sharp stick in his hand slipped and went right through his hand. And so Mark prayed for him and the Shoemaker was healed and he became the first convert there. And then after Mark was martyred, they drug him through the streets behind their chariots. Then the Shoemaker became the second Bishop of Alexandria in the Egyptian Coptic church. They continue to trace the history of their bishops going all the way back to Mark, who wrote the gospel of Mark. And so it was cool to preach in the footsteps of one of the disciples of Jesus. And you remember seeing that the pyramids, we had a good time together.

Waldy Bershe (03:18):
That’s true. Yeah. We went to see the pyramids. It was life changing. I mean, the seeing that Christ is still preached in Northern Africa and yeah.

Evangelism Coach Daniel King (03:28):
And so you have been traveling to other nations. What are some of the, the places that you’ve had the chance to go and preach

Waldy Bershe (03:35):
Gospel? Yeah. Preached in countries like Pakistan, India, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Vietnam, also couple of countries in Africa, like Cameroon, Kenya, Uganda Brazil

Evangelism Coach Daniel King (03:50):
Quite a lot. It sounds like. And in Brazil you went with Rubin’s, Konya our good friend from, from Brazil. Great. Brazilian evangelists. And then you, you got to go to, to Kazakhstan, which you actually, you were, you were born in Kazakhstan T tell me about that.

Waldy Bershe (04:05):
I’m German, but I was born in Kazakh, Stan, and yeah, I didn’t visit my country for over 30 years. So just recently I went there and we preach there. We had a possibility to visit churches and the country is not so open for Christianity, but still there are possibilities to share the gospel and yeah, we try to strengthen the body of Christ over there.

Evangelism Coach Daniel King (04:28):
And so as you’ve gone to these different nations, what have you seen God do? What kind of miracles have you experienced? What has God been doing as you’ve been preaching?

Waldy Bershe (04:38):
Yeah, I remember we were, we had a crusade in a country in South Asia and there was a Hindu leader and he, his wife has, was blind and he came with his wife to our meeting and yeah, he had this neat. His wife was blind and got opened up the eyes of this wife. And yeah, he confessed Christ in front of thousands of people. This was really life-changing. So we see a lot of miracles that the deaf hear and the cripples walk Christ is still alive. Like the Bible is telling us Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today and forever. Yeah.

Evangelism Coach Daniel King (05:19):
Amen. And right now we are in Orlando, Florida, and you are attending the evangelism bootcamp with Christ for all nations led by evangelist Daniel Kolenda. The ministry originally started by Reinhardt Bunky. And this is a three month intensive training process for evangelists. Can you tell me, why did you want to come to the evangelism bootcamp?

Waldy Bershe (05:48):
Yeah, it’s crusades in the past, but I still want to learn from the best of the best. And Steven is the best when it comes to evangelism. And yeah, I’m from a small town in, from Germany called Tosh date and right out Punka he was invited as a 16 year old boy by German pasture. And he visited the town. He preached there and the people were touched and he wrote that everything started from this small town. And I know the house where he preached. So as a young boy, I drove by and I said, God, from here, he was sent out to the nations. He touched the whole continent of Africa. Africa has over 1 billion people and almost everyone knows their name of rhino bunkie in Africa. And I said, God, please, can you do it for me again too? And yeah, God granted me the vision. And I’m able to visit the CIF and bootcamp and learn from Daniel Kolenda used the successor of Reinhardt Bunky. They brought over 80 million people to Christ and it’s really life-changing

Evangelism Coach Daniel King (06:51):
Well, and so a few years ago before Reinhard Bunky went to heaven, you actually had the opportunity to, to meet him and talk to him. What was that like to meet a fellow great German evangelist?

Waldy Bershe (07:05):
Yeah. Ryan at Bungie was really impressive. We talked about crusade. He had in Hamburg and he was preaching there in this 2 million city. And yeah, he had some opposition, but he was willing to press on and preach the gospel. It was raining, but he still continued to preach. And a lot of people heard the gospel and the area where he started his ministry.

Evangelism Coach Daniel King (07:31):
And so not only are you going to different nations in Asia and Africa and South America, but you also have a heart for your own country of Germany. But the, the atmosphere in Germany is very different than in some nations. What is the general spiritual atmosphere? If you, if you talk to someone about God, what’s that like in Germany,

Waldy Bershe (07:59):
Germany is kind of a hard ground because Germany is a wealthy country that people don’t need. God. So they say, okay, I have everything. I have a house, I have a job I’m healthy. Why do I need God? So but still there was this inner Vite in their, in their heart and their there’s still an inner longing for something, but they don’t know what it is. And the gospel is we have to preach the gospel in Germany, but the people are still resisting and saying, okay, you have your own belief. You can believe what you want. I will believe. And do my thing. Just please stay away from me, you know, but Germany has a lot of great heritage. Germany is the country of Martin Luther muffin rulers. There were, he reformed the faith 500 years ago and he translated the Bible. So I’m very thankful for the forefathers in Germany. They brought the gospel to the whole, we have the Moravians in Germany, they preach the gospel all over. They went to the forest corners and yeah, nations were touched by the Moravian. So we have great heritage. And we have to bring the gospel again, back to Europe, back to Germany.

Evangelism Coach Daniel King (09:11):
Amen. I mean, Martin Luther had such a tremendous impact on Protestant Christianity. And I’m so thankful for, for a great German like him. And like you said, the Moravians, I know that they love to pray. In fact there is a place on the East coast of the United States that the Moravians pray 24 hours a day for over a hundred years, the Moravian missionaries that came in. So I believe that if God can do it once God can do it again. So I pray for all of Germany to be saved. So, so you’ve actually worked with some of the churches in Germany, training them in evangelism. Tell me some of, of what that looks like and what response you’ve had from people as you’ve gone out on the streets.

Waldy Bershe (10:00):
What I do is training evangelists in Germany. We visited churches and train them to share the gospel and on the streets, but also the working places. And a couple of years ago I was just, we went to the drag scene and I saw a guy who was refugee from Iran. And I invited him to McDonald’s and I shared the gospel with him. And he said, you know, you’re the first person inviting me to eat too. And he opened up his heart, he started to cry and he received Christ. And now he is an active member in the church. He’s leading other people from Iran to Christ and it’s sometimes very simple. Sometimes we say, yeah, who am I? I’m just a normal person, but you still can change a life by just actively approaching people. And for me, it was really great to see. I just went to a person preached and now he is he is discipling other Iranian refugees.

Evangelism Coach Daniel King (11:02):
So, so you’ve actually taken churches from Germany, out on the streets in Germany, talking to people about Jesus. What’s the response of a typical German? What do they do? They laugh at you, do they ignore you? Do they try to walk away? How do people usually respond?

Waldy Bershe (11:22):
They say most of the people say, okay, I don’t have time for that. So you have your own belief. I have my belief don’t bother me, but there are still a lot of people they are open and yeah, they’re receptive.

Evangelism Coach Daniel King (11:34):
So if someone says, don’t bother me, you have your belief. I have my belief, just leave me alone. What do you do to, to, to overcome that objection or to

Waldy Bershe (11:44):
Sometimes I’m asking them a very direct question. I’m asking them if you die tonight, where are you going to spend eternity? And then they start to think, man, that’s a important question. Where are you going to spend eternity? And then it opens a little bit up. And sometimes we can lead them to Christ and it’s very needy there in Germany. Germany wants the gospel.

Evangelism Coach Daniel King (12:05):
Amen. Well, I think Germany is just as much a mission field as some of the other places that I’ve gone. I mean, sometimes you can go to a nation Africa and end a large percentage of the population may already be Christian. And in, in Germany they they’ve said that Europe is, is a post-Christian continent, but I don’t think it has to be called post-Christian. I think let’s say it is pre-Christian it is coming to Jesus. It will come back to Christ. I believe that we will see a great harvest of souls in Germany, as well as an, in other parts of the world. And so you are full of fire, full of passion for evangelism. And for, as you’ve been getting started in evangelism, you’ve, you’ve had your job there in Germany, but the time is coming where you want to, to go into full-time evangelism. Is that right? What, what do you see God doing in the future? Yes,

Waldy Bershe (13:03):
My goal is to be full-time evangelist and future. So before I was working full, I had a normal job, but I really want to be obedient to the call of God. So I had a great job. Yeah, but in the end, God is not going to ask you what kind of nice job you had or how much money did you make, but what did you do for Christ? How many people that you brought for to Jesus? So it really like your goal. Your goal was to be a soul millionaire by the end of 30. And you achieved the goal actually. And now you brought 2 million people to Christ and as has men Daniel King, he made it he’s my role model. I wanted to do it in future too. And yeah, I’m right now, I’m figuring out a way how to reach 1 million people through Christ.

Welcome to the evangelism podcast. I’m Daniel King, and I’m excited about telling people about Jesus today. I have a very special guest, Dr. Jack Myers from plant city, Florida. Thank you so much for being a guest on the evangelism podcast. Dr.

Jack Myers (01:17):
King really appreciates an honor and privilege

Evangelist Daniel King (01:20):
And so you pastor a church here in plant city, but you are also an evangelist and we’ve known each other for, for quite a while. Tell me a little bit of the story of how you be came an evangelists.

Jack Myers (01:33):
Well, you know many years ago I gave my heart to Jesus when I was 12 and it got filled with the Holy ghost of 17, but when I gave him a heart to Jesus at 12, I felt like I was called to the ministry. And I remember calling my father on the phone and I telling him, I said, dad, you know, I feel like I’m going to be in the ministry. And he was very excited about that. And then of course, you know, I got married when I was 19. My wife was 18, but when I was 26 years old, I had a major encounter with God that radically changed my life forever. And I guess you could say at 26, I answered the call to the ministry. And we were attending a small church at that time. And for about three years we did anything and everything in the church that that needed to be done.

Jack Myers (02:21):
And at the end of three years we gave away a business that we were doing and we moved to Tulsa, Oklahoma, and I attended Raymond Bible training center. And I entered into the evangelist class. My wife entered into the missionaries class and I just felt that call. It was a burn on the inside to win souls. I mean, if you’re called to be an evangelist, you just can’t get away in your favorite messages about Jesus. I love to talk about Jesus. And so I felt that burn to do evangelism. So basically it was like revival for the church evangelism for the world, you know, so we want to do Oswald J Smith wrote a book called a passion for souls. And he made a comment in that, in that book, he said nothing less than a genuine revival, that results in awakening among the unsaved will ever satisfy the heart of God.

Jack Myers (03:12):
So God’s heartbeat is souls. And when you’re called to be an evangelist, you, you, you, you, you eat, you drink you dream you’re your whole mission is to get people saved. And so we went through Bible college and always wanted to do crusade evangelism. So I think it was probably about five years into full-time ministry. It took a process from the time I answered the call to go through Bible school, going through jobs and then going full time. And it was probably about five to probably six years. I met you Reverend Daniel. And I remember we were at Oh, happy day. It was a great day. Actually. It was a great day that my life changed forever when I met you and we were at a pastor’s conference. And I remember you came up to me and you introduce yourself to me and we kind of hit it off where I kind of kindred spirits.

Jack Myers (04:02):
And you showed me a crusade that you just got back from. And when I saw those multitudes of multiple multitudes of people, you were telling me about all the miracles and healings, I asked you, how did you do that? Can you teach me how to this? And I think we got a, probably about a 10 year age difference. I mean, I’m going to be 55 in may, and you’re how old now just 40 twos. Okay. So there was a big 15 year, almost 15 year difference, but thank God. I was humbled enough to be able to learn from a younger man who had experienced something that I would done. And then I met you and you say, come on a crusade with me. So we went to want to mint Haiti, which was the first crusade I was on. And then you introduced me to one of your crusade directors that you had

Evangelist Daniel King (04:46):
Fernando Fleming down in Dominican Republic, who is a great friend, a great man of God. And he’s done many crusades there in both Haiti and in the Dominican Republic. And so after you came on that first crusade and won them at which, which in, in Haiti, there’s always a wild time having crusades. It seems like the demons are wild there. And so that was a very unique crusade there, but you participate. I think we didn’t have electricity. And in the hotel, we barely had food to eat. The meat on the chicken were so tough. They said that they were marathon running chickens, and we had some wild, crazy miracles that week. But you caught the vision to start doing crusades. And so then you did your first crusade in Dominican Republic with pastor Fernando Fleming. Now you told me how much money you had in your pocket or in the bank account.

Evangelist Daniel King (05:46):
When you committed to doing that first crusade, how much did you have saved up that you could put towards doing a crusade $39? So you had $39 and I assumed crusade costs more than $39, 30,000. It was $30,000. So, so you made a commitment to go and raise $30,000 when you had $39. And I had 12 months to do it in your bank account. And I’d never raised $30,000 before and in my ministry up until this point. So that was a huge step of faith for you to do what happened at that first crusade you managed to raise the money. Yeah. Did you see miracles? Did people get, say what happened?

Jack Myers (06:21):
Well, it actually changed my destiny. It really, really did. I remember. So basically you made me ask you, so how, how can you go from $39 to $30,000? Well some of the keys that I’ve learned over the years now, we’ve been in the ministry 25 years now. Okay. And some of the keys that I learned about winning the loss, if you can share the vision of winning souls, God will always make sure you have the money to do it. Because like I said souls is his heartbeat. So if you have a passion for souls, I mean, that’s the reason why Jesus came to seek and to save that, which was lost. And so if you have a passion for souls and you, you, you project that vision, God will lay it on people’s hearts to support your ministry. And so in one year we we went from $39 and we raised $30,000.

Jack Myers (07:22):
And there were some people that gave $2. There was some people that gave $10 that a lot of people gave $20. There were some churches that they caught a hold of the vision. We would just share the vision. There wasn’t any pressure. I didn’t put any pressure. The only pressure I put was on God to meet that need, because I would tell him, you know, you, you, your heartbeat is souls. You know, you want to install it, but it takes finances though. And is the gospels for free, but it takes money to win. And so for an entire year, we would just share the vision with anybody and everybody’s social media. I mean, anytime I had an opportunity where we’re going to the Dominican, we’re going to the Dominica, we’re going to the maker, we’re going to go install. We’re going to go in cells.

Jack Myers (07:56):
And we did it passionately, but we did a truthfully and sure enough, by 12 months later, we had, we had the $30,000 and we did our first grade crusade. And I guess it was a San Juan Dominican Republic. And we had an attendance of between 30 to 40,000 that was there. And the miracles were amazing. And we brought our first team. We had 16 people on our first team, 16 Americans came. And I remember on the last night of the crusade, which was on a Friday night, the place was just packed. The field was packed like sardines. And I remember when we finished the crusade, myself, my wife and the team, we decided to go off the platform and make our way to the hotel because the hotel and the crusade grounds were like back-to-back. And when I stepped off the platform, the entire crowd shifted.

Jack Myers (08:47):
So in other words, I’m looking at the crown and sh we stepped off to the right side of the platform and the whole crowd shifted. And then they started to press, which was a little, a little dangerous kind of thing. You know, when you cut it, you gotta be real careful with that. I mean, we tried to dismiss everybody, but nobody wanted to leave. And then I remember I just started praying for people and they were falling under the power. And then the crowd started pressing me more. And then I just waved my hand and said in the name of Jesus and the crowds were falling like 30, 40 people, they were making a pathway for us all the way to the hotel. And then when we made it into the hotel grounds, the crowd kind of followed out into the streets. We went into the hotel lobby.

Jack Myers (09:25):
People started coming into the hotel because the miracles were happening. So, so crazily. And then eventually the management they’ve shoved us into the dining area and had to close the double doors. And then w w when our team sat down, all of our teams sat down. We all started crying, all of a sudden burst out in tears. And I, and then I, and it came to me when Jesus said that he was in the press, people pressed on him. And it was just, it was a very humbling moment, but it was a very surreal moment when you do your first crusade and then you’re like hooked, that’s it, you’re done. You got to do them. And so we’ve been doing them for 15 years. Okay.

Evangelist Daniel King (09:59):
You got addicted to doing crusades, leading people to Jesus. There’s no feeling like it, actually having the opportunity to lead someone to Jesus. And so since then, how many crusades approximately, would you say that you’ve done?

Jack Myers (10:11):
Oh my gosh, we’ve done because you’ve

Evangelist Daniel King (10:13):
Been doing like one or two

Jack Myers (10:15):
For 15 years. 15 years. Yeah. Sometimes three, depending on what year we can do 15 to 20. Yeah. I would say, I would say that maybe 25 max. Okay. Twenty-five max. What are some of the countries that you’ve, Oh my gosh. We’ve been to a country of Nepal. We’ve been to Burma. We’ve been to Dominican Republic. We’ve been to Haiti. We’ve been to Nicaragua. We’ve been to El Salvador. We’ve been to Honduras, a lot of work in hon. I say a lot of work in Honduras and a lot, a lot of work in the Dominican Republic. So it seems to be Mexico. I think those, but we’ve been back several times. Yeah. So I can’t think of any other,

Evangelist Daniel King (10:56):
Your, your ministry is very multifaceted. You you’ve been doing the crusades, doing the work of an evangelist and there’s different nations overseas, often even taking large teams

Jack Myers (11:07):
Of people with 100 people.

Evangelist Daniel King (11:09):
Wow. And so giving over a hundred people on a, on a crusade, a chance to see God do miracles for themselves. And then here in the United States, you, you have the church here in plant city, Florida. Right. So, so let’s talk about being in evangelistic church. What does your church do to reach out evangelistically to the community? Cause I think it’s really unique to have a person who is called to be an evangelist, but also pastoring.

Jack Myers (11:40):
Right, right, right. So we started the church 11 years ago. And when we planted the church, we were, we felt led to the Lord to cut a plant, a base, a launching base. And I’m not saying that every evangelist should do that. I’m just that you have to be totally led with that. Not everybody, not none of your managers should have a base that, you know, and, but not every pastor should either kind of thing. So is you have to be totally out of the Lord. So we planted the church here and the church came out of Jack Meyers ministries. So Jack Meyers ministries didn’t come out of the church. So it was kind of the opposite. Sometimes you knew you have a church and you launch front. But when we planted the church, not only did we plant the church, we also planted a Bible school.

Jack Myers (12:20):
So we had the church, we had the Bible school and then we had the world missions. And, and so, and we strategically planted because we’re only like 40 minutes from, from Orlando or 40 minutes from Tampa international airport. So that’s where we want to be. And so kind of like I have a launching place. So from the very moment that we launched the church, we also launched our evangelism skills because we traveled extensively for 10 years. I mean, 15 years, that’s all we did was travel. And it just seemed to be the right time to launch a base. And so we started out by going out on Saturdays, we’d pass out flyers. And so w what I wanted to do was, is because we’re originally from Florida. I had preached a lot in Florida with several of my pastors friends, and I didn’t want to be close to them.

Jack Myers (13:09):
So I wanted to be at least 40 to 45 minutes from all of our pastor friends that we’ve done meetings, because we didn’t want to pull anybody out of those churches. I think that a character and integrity is very important when it comes to ministry. Not only that pastor Rodney Howard Brown is my pastor. So he has a church it’s about 35 minutes from us. So I remember calling him on the phone and I said, pastor, you said, yes, sir. And he said, brother, Jack, how are you? And I said, I’m doing well. I said, I feel out of the Lord to plant a church in plant city. I said, we’ve been around everywhere. I said, we’re only 30 minutes from you. And I said, if you tell me, no, sir, we won’t do it. So that gives you a submission to authority thing.

Jack Myers (13:47):
And he’s his brother. He’s a plan city. They’re going to hell. They needed, they need a church. So we planted a church. And so, and we consulted with our board and we actually talked to like 25 different pastors. And we interviewed them before we started the church. Cause we wanted to know what they should have did what they wish to do. They wanted to do how they could have done it. So we did a lot of counseling. We met with our board at council with our board. And so not only did we do with God, but we also consultant. And then they said, yes, this is the right time. You need to do it. So for 11 years, almost every Saturday, we’ve done an outreach. And we actually rented the plant city stadium, which could hold about 4,000 people. And we did the first back in 2017, we did the first Easter outreach at the plant city stadium. We had 2,500 people come. We gave away 30,000

Evangelist Daniel King (14:35):
City. That’s a huge crop plant city is not huge. Right? So to bring 2,500 people into a stadium in plant city is a miracle. Yeah.

Jack Myers (14:45):
Really huge event because plant city is a 20 by 22 mile radius, but they probably about 130 churches here. So there’s a lot of churches, you know? And so at that time, the population was probably about 35,000. There we’re at 39, almost 40,000 now. So at that time we were between 30 and 35,000. So to have 2,500 people come to the stadium, which is huge. And we cast a huge net, a lot of people gave their hearts to Christ. We had, and we set up a water Baptist. We’ll take about 25 people in their clothes, got water baptized. Plus we gave 30,000 Easter eggs away. We had planned, we had the mayor from plant city come and address the crowd. And we had a a a Christian rap artists named minister he’s pastoring. Now his name is Mike and he did some songs and all that kinda stuff.

Jack Myers (15:34):
And so, and we spent about $15,000 on that. So, but we were swinging the bat pretty hard almost every Saturday for 11 years that we’ve been doing it. And so we hit the parks. We, we, we go out and knocking on doors, we’ll go into the city into the into the like what Walmart area we get permission. Of course they don’t. We work with them, the local businesses and all that kind of stuff. And we, we do an outreach. We want to get people saved and that’s, and that’s our heart. And that’s how we’ve kind of done it.

Evangelist Daniel King (16:05):
And then in addition to doing the overseas work and pastoring the church here, you also go to churches and preach revivals. Right? So let’s talk about what the American church needs in the area of revival. What, what do you think God wants to do here in the church in America?

Jack Myers (16:25):
You know people ask me Dr. Jack, what, what is, what is really revival? What revival, let me say what revival is not revival is not your yearly spring revival where you put, you can put a revival sign on the outside of the church.

Evangelist Daniel King (16:39):
You put it on the calendar and say, these two days are when God’s gonna make

Jack Myers (16:42):
Right. As long as it’s not. Okay. Okay. So row, just because there’s the, the church has their yearly revival. Doesn’t necessarily the people in the inside are being revived. So revival is for the church. What does that mean? It brings you back to your first love. It’s that having an encounter with the word and encounter with the spirit that brings you back to your first, love it read [inaudible] it really fires you up. It brings you to that place where you are passionate for winning the lost again, because you know, over a period of time, people can, you know, you get around some religious people, you get around and you can get kind of dry, you know, revivals like the rain of falls on a dry soil. That’s been parched in the sun for a long time as what revival does, because you have to have, you have to have soil and you have to have rain for things to grow. And so revival brings you back to your first love. That’s what really revival is. And that’s for the church, that results in an awakening. I’m when to say, so I say like this revivals for the church, but vitals for the worlds. And that’s what that does. I mean, Bibles for the church, but vitals for the world, Bible Bible is for the world Bibles for the world. All right.

Evangelist Daniel King (17:50):
Yeah. Yeah. And so the evangelistic crusades would be for the loss, correct? You’re going into the community, leading people to Jesus. The revival is more to get the church fired back up, get them on fire for God, get them back to their first love for Jesus. That’s awesome. So what advice would you give to someone who feels called to be an evangelist or, or to a pastor who wants to be more evangelistic?

Jack Myers (18:17):
One of my spiritual mentors is Kenneth Hagan, of course he’s with the Lord. And when we were in Bible college, he actually made a very profound statement. He said, every evangelists should pastor for two years, and every pastor should evangelize for two years. And I’m kind of thinking it should be a little longer. I mean, he said that about 40 years ago, but I think, I think pastors and evangelists and evangelists and pastors, they need to work together. We both have a very dear friend of ours is Todd delay. And I was in his church recently and he said, pastors need evangelists. And I said to him, evangelist, ne pastors, that’s true. And I think we need to work together. You know, a pastor is like a general practitioner, but in an advantage is, is very specific spearheads. He or she, he or she stirs up the church to go out into the community because sometimes, you know, a church can be inbred, you know, “Hi, my name is Darryl. This my brother, Darryl-Darryl. We’re the Daryl brothers. We’re all inbred.” No, God, God doesn’t want the inbred illness. He wants outreach. And, and even though a pastor can do the work of an evangelist, there’s still, but there’s not the gifting there. You know, you can do the work, but the anointing, the, the advantages is very specific. It’s almost like you know, on your hand, on your right hand. So you’re, you got the five-point ministry on your, on your right hand. Your thumb is the apostle. You got your forefinger, that’s the prophet. And then your middle finger is the evangelist. And then your fourth finger is the pastor. And then the small finger, your pinky is the teacher. So if you look, you can see that the evangelists has far reaching. So there’s giftings with the evangelists that the pastor does not have the pastor.

Jack Myers (19:58):
He, he looks good to the people. He even wears a ring. He looks good. So the evangelists he throws, the net, brings the fish in and the pastor cleans them up. And that’s the reason why we have to work together in the five fold ministry. That’s the reason why the advantages in the pastor have to, because my friend, pastor Todd, he told me that he said, he said, he in one of the meetings, he said he had a vision. And he said he was in a foxhole and there was a war going on. And he said, he popped up with his, you know, his [inaudible] go back down. He said, he popped back up, dah, dah, dah. And he said, he saw me out of nowhere, just come running across the field and jumped into the fossil and took two syringes of adrenaline and just heading what hit know my friend’s a pastor, right? Hits them with the adrenaline. He said, he hopped out Fox hall. Now he’s running toward the enemy, like fast speed. He said, that’s what an evangelist to her pastor.

Evangelist Daniel King (20:48):
He comes in and just infuses gets by, brings the wind in the pastor sales so that the pastor can continue to go on and reach the community. So the evangelists brings the adrenaline to get the body of Christ going out to the law and fuses in infuses the pastor to keep going. That’s awesome. Yeah. The secret of your salvation lies in the power of the cross. Join me today as I talk about a concept that is central to what it means to be a Christian.

My name is Daniel King. I’m a missionary evangelist. I go all over the world, preaching the gospel. But my favorite place to be is Sacramento. I like being here and I’ve been asked to speak about the cross. I flew in on Tuesday night. And as our plane was landing, the pilot got on the Intercom and he said this, “Please prepare for arrival by doing a cross-check.” I wasn’t sure what that meant. So I asked the stewardess, “What does that mean?” And she said, “Oh, we look across the plane to make sure the doors are ready to open.” But I was thinking about that question. And I think that on our way to heaven, we need to prepare for arrival by doing a cross check. Do you have the cross in your life or is it just hanging around your neck? I know what it means to hang on the cross.

When I was a ten-year-old child, my parents became missionaries to the nation of Mexico. And since they were my legal guardians, I had to go with them. And so my dad had an idea. He said, “We’re going to do a drama about the life of Jesus.” He says, “Daniel, I want you to play the part of Jesus.” And I thought that was a good idea because Jesus was perfect and I was almost perfect. And so my sister, Esther, she would come up and she would pretend to be crippled like this. And Jesus would touch her on the forehead and suddenly she could dance. And then my sister Melody should come up and she’d pretend to be blind. And Jesus would spit on the ground, make some mud, but before I could touch her, she was already healed. And then my father said, “Now we’re going to crucify Jesus.” And suddenly I didn’t want to be Jesus any longer. But my younger brother, Stephen, he loved this drama is four years younger than me. And as the older brother, I felt it was my job to beat up on Stephen. But in this drama, he was the Roman soldier and he got to beat up on Jesus. As we bring this big, long leather whip. And he began to whip me with it, dragged me right up the center aisle. I gotta be honest with you, pastor, I think he overreacted a little bit. One day he went to my dad. He says, “Dad, I don’t think this drama is realistic enough. We need some blood.” And my dad thought that was a good idea. So Stephen brought a big bottle of ketchup and put ketchup all over this whip. He began to whip me. It was just like the movie of the passion of the Christ. There was blood all over my back. Then he crucified me to a cross and I remember hanging there on the cross with all the sticky ketchup on my back. And every fly in Mexico was attracted to the ketchup on my back. And I’d always tell my dad, dad, could you please preach quickly? It’s very difficult to hang on the cross. But my father was just like Philip junior here. He didn’t know how to preach quickly. It started in Genesis and go all the way through to the last book of the Bible appendix, he preached the entire thing and I’d been hanging there on the cross, sticky ketchup on my back flies crawling up and down. I’d begin to pray. I’d say, “God, forgive my father. He knows not what he does.” And then I would die. And one time there was this little kid he wanted to see whether Jesus was really dead or not. He came up, he started tickling the bottom of my feet. I’m telling you, I suffered for the sake of the cross.

In Matthew chapter 16, verse 24. Jesus told his disciples, “If anyone desires to come after me, let him deny himself, take up his cross and follow me.” That’s what I did literally. Are you willing to deny your own desires for the sake of the cross? The cross only has one purpose to put someone to death. The cross for the believer means the death of the old man so that we can be resurrected anew. We only have two choices. We can either run away from the cross or we can die on the cross. The man who’s nailed to the cross cannot look back. When you take up your cross to follow Jesus. There’s no end goal. No going back to your past. Do you glory only in the cross pastors, Galatians six verse 14, God forbid that I should boast except in the cross of our Lord, Jesus Christ, by whom the world has been crucified to me and I to the world. Pastors, do you preach the message of the cross first Corinthians one verse 18? The message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing. But to those who are being saved, it is the power of God is the cross, the power of God in your life.

Today, I want to look at a verse. Luke chapter 23, verse 33 said when they came to the place called Calvary there, they crucified him and the criminals one on the right hand. And one on the left. I want to focus in on these four words there. They crucified him. Everyone say “there.” They crucified him “there” in that place on Golgotha, Calvary in Jerusalem. It’s not a legend. It’s not a fairy tale. 2000 years ago in a specific time and a specific place. There they crucified him. “They.” Who crucified him? The Roman soldiers who drove the nails into his hands. Was it the Pharisees who yelled say crucify him? No, the person who crucified him was you and me. First Corinthians 15 verse 3 says Christ died for our sins. According to the scriptures, He died for you. And He died for me there. They crucified him. They crucified him, horrible torture, a crown of thorns. They whipped his back. They slapped him. They spit on him. The picture of Jesus on the cross shows us how serious God is about sin. First Corinthians one verse 23, we preach Christ crucified to the Jews, a stumbling block to the Greeks foolishness there. They crucified him. Who is this? Him? It was the man who was born of a Virgin. The man who healed the leper. It was the man who opened the eyes of the blind. The man who made the paralyzed to walk. The man who raised Lazarus from the dead. The man who taught the disciples, the man who walked on the water, the man who stilled the storm, the man who fed the 5,000 with nothing but two loaves and two fishes. The man who taught us how to get to God, the father, the man who was the son of God, the man who was sinless, who committed no sin. The man who did not deserve to die the most perfect man who ever lived. It was that man there, they crucified him. The cross was the most horrible torture device imagined by mankind, but God turned it into the greatest symbol of hope. The cross is the bridge between heaven and earth. Jesus is standing in the gap of sin. Sin separates us from God and the Bible says that all have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God. The price for sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ. Our Lord Jesus died on the cross. He became the bridge so that you can have a relationship with God, the Father.

The cross is the dividing line of history. It is the dividing line between BC and AD the dividing line between salvation and destruction between the old Testament and the new Testament. The cross stands at the center point of history before it man was separated from God after it, man can be reconciled with God. The cross stands at the center of history. But my question for you today is this, does the cross stand at the center of your life? Someone asked Jesus, how much do you love me? Jesus stretched out his hands. He said this much. Then he died on The cross. The cross is the proof that Jesus loves you. The cross is a simple joining of two pieces of wood together. One vertical, the other horizontal, the vertical pieces. Remind us to love God. The horizontal piece reminds us to love one another, just as Jesus stretched out his arms and an act of love for all of humanity, we should stretch out our arms to embrace one another.

What do you see when you see the cross? Jesus was at the center. In this verse. I read just a moment ago, said that on his left, there was a thief. And on his right, there was a thief. Both men turn their heads and looked at Jesus and they both saw Jesus differently. The one on the left started to mock Jesus. He said, if you think you’re the Christ, why don’t you just save all of us? The other one, the thief on the right. He said, Lord, remember me? When you come into your kingdom. And Jesus said to this man, as surely I say to you today, you will be with me in paradise. How do you see Jesus today? One man saw criminal. The other side King one saw simple, man. The other saw God’s perfect son. One thought about the past. The other thought about the future. One focused on what he was the other focus on what he could become. One got the punishment. He deserved the other, got the forgiveness. He didn’t deserve one experienced judgment. The other received grace for one, the cross was an instrument of torture for the other. It became an instrument of mercy. One was looking for a way down of escape. The other one was looking for a way up to paradise.

What do you see when you come to the cross? What do you get when you come to the cross? When you come to the cross, you come as a sinner, but you leave as a Saint. You come to the cross under condemnation, but you leave with righteousness. You come to the cross sick, but you leave healed. You come to the cross with worry, but you leave with hope. You come to the cross with fear and you leave with faith. You’ll come to the cross with sadness, but you leave with joy. You’ll come to the cross poor, but you leave rich. You’ll come to the cross under a curse, but you leave blessed. What do you see when you see the cross? What you receive when you come to the cross? What is the cross to me at the cross? At the cross where I first saw the light and the burden of my heart rolled away. It was there by faith that I received my sight. And now I am happy all the day. I hope this message impacted your life today. The Bible says everyone calls on the name of the Lord will be saved. If you want Jesus to forgive your sins, call on His name right now.

 

Missions Throughout the Bible

From beginning to end, the Bible is a story about missions. In the beginning of time, God walked and talked with Adam and Eve, but then separated them from their Creator by their disobedience. The rest of the story is how God works to reconnect with His children. We could call it “His Story.”

From the beginning, God’s intention was for the entire earth to be saved. God begins His plan of redemption by calling a man named Abraham, later his descendants became the nation of Israel. They were chosen to manifest God’s glory for the rest of the world to see. Throughout the Old Testament, God sends prophets as ancient missionaries to bring His words to the people.

God’s calling began with one man, Abraham, and extended to one people, the children of Israel, but it was never meant to stop there. Throughout the Bible, we see that God’s love is universal. His salvation is meant for the nations, for all peoples, for all tribes, and tongues. From the first man Adam, to the new-born babe, God loves everyone.

In the fullness of time, God sent forth His Son, Jesus Christ as a missionary to the world. When Jesus ascended back into heaven, He gave his followers the Great Commission to go as missionaries into all the world.

Nina Gunter said, “If you take missions out of the Bible, you won’t have anything left but the covers.” The Nazarene Bible College says, “Missions is not merely contained in the Bible. The missions enterprise does not merely find a basis in the Bible. From beginning to end, the Bible is an intensely missionary book. It not only encourages world evangelism, it demands it.”

Old Testament Verses About Missions

Genesis 3:15 – The Promised Redeemer would save all humankind.

Genesis 12:1-3 God said to Abraham, “…in you all the families of the earth shall be blessed.”

Genesis 18:18 (NKJV) “Abraham shall surely become a great and mighty nation, and all the nations of the earth shall be blessed in him.”

Genesis 22:17-18 (NKJV) “blessing I will bless you, and multiplying I will multiply your descendants as the stars of the heaven and as the sand which is on the seashore; and your descendants shall possess the gate of their enemies. In your seed all the nations of the earth shall be blessed, because you have obeyed My voice.”

Genesis 26:24 (NKJV) And the Lord appeared to him the same night and said, “I am the God of your father Abraham; do not fear, for I am with you. I will bless you and multiply your descendants for My servant Abraham’s sake.”

Exodus 19:6 (NKJV) “And you shall be to Me a kingdom of priests and a holy nation.” One nation was called to be a priest-nation for every other nation.

Numbers 14:21 (NKJV) “…all the earth shall be filled with the glory of the Lord.”

Deut. 4:6-8 The laws of Israel and their closeness to God were to be a sign to all other nations.

Missions in the New Testament – The Gospels

The New Testament is completely focused on missions. It tells the story of how salvation spread from the Jews (God’s chosen people) to the Gentiles throughout the earth. The Gospels reveal how God loved the world so much that He sent His only Son, that whoever would believe in him would have eternal life. The book of Acts is a history of the missions efforts of the early church.  The epistles were letters written to churches that had been established by missionary efforts. Without missions, there would be no New Testament.

Matthew 4:8-10 (NKJV) Again, the devil took Him up on an exceedingly high mountain, and showed Him all the kingdoms of the world and their glory. And he said to Him, “All these things I will give You if You will fall down and worship me.” Then Jesus said to him, “Away with you, Satan! For it is written, “You shall worship the Lord your God, and Him only you shall serve.” – Satan knew God’s passion for the world.

Matthew 6:9-10 The Lord’s Prayer “Your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.

Matthew 8:11 (Luke 13:29) “Many will come from the east and the west, and will take their places at the feast…in the kingdom of heaven.”

Matthew 10:18 “On my account you will be brought before governors and kings as witnesses to them and to the Gentiles.”

Missions in the New Testament – The Book of Acts

The entire book of Acts is a book about missions. In Acts 1:8, Jesus commissions the disciples to be witnesses to the “ends of the earth.” They begin in Jerusalem on the day of Pentecost. They continue to Samaria in Acts 8. The Ethiopian Eunuch carries the Gospel to what was considered the ends of the earth after Phillip the Evangelist ministers to him on the desert road in Acts 8.  The door to heaven is opened to the Gentiles when Peter ministers to Cornelius in Acts 10. Paul goes on four missionary journeys throughout the known world until he reaches Rome, the center of the world during the First Century A.D. The book of Acts is a book of missions.

Acts 1:8 (NKJV) But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be witnesses to Me in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.

– The Holy Spirit is the spirit of missions. His indwelling gives us the power to become missionaries, and not only the power, but also the desire.

Acts 2:5-12 On the day of Pentecost, people from around the world heard the Gospel proclaimed in their own tongues.

Acts 3:25 “He said to Abraham, ‘Through your offspring, all peoples on earth will be blessed.’”

Acts 9:15 “Go! This man is my chosen instrument to carry my name before the Gentiles and their kings.”

Acts 11:18 “They praised God, saying, So then, God has granted even the Gentiles repentance unto life.”

Acts 13:47 (NKJV) For so the Lord has commanded us: “I have set you as a light to the Gentiles, That you should be for salvation to the ends of the earth.” This prophecy echoes the verse in Isaiah 49:6, “witnesses in all the earth.”

Acts 14:27 “They reported all that God had done through them and how he had opened the door of faith to the Gentiles.”

Acts 28:28 “Therefore I want you to know that God’s salvation has been sent to the Gentiles, and they will listen!”

 

Missions in the New Testament – The Epistles

Romans 1:5 “We received grace and apostleship to call people from among all the Gentiles to obedience.”

Romans 1:16 “The Gospel…is the power of God that brings salvation…first to the Jew, then to the Gentile.”

Romans 3:29 “Is God the God of the Jews only? Is he not the God of the Gentiles too? Yes. Of Gentiles too.”

Romans 10:12-15 “How can they hear?”

Romans 15:10 “Rejoice, O Gentiles, with his people.” (Deut 32:43).

Missions in the New Testament – Revelation

The book of Revelation is the great culmination of the missionary mandate. In this book, we clearly see the harvest of souls all in one place. At the same time, we witness the consequences for all those who rejected the Gospel.

Revelation 5:9 (NKJV And have redeemed us to God by Your blood out of every tribe and tongue and people and nation,

Revelation 7:9 (NKJV) After these things I looked, and behold, a great multitude which no one could number, of all nations, tribes, peoples, and tongues, standing before the throne and before the Lamb, clothed with white robes, with palm branches in their hands,

Revelation 14:6 “The angel had the eternal Gospel to proclaim to those who live on the earth, to every nation, tribe, language, and people.”

Revelation 15:4 “All the nations will come and worship before you.”

Revelation 21:23-24 “The Lamb is its lamp. The nations will walk by its light.”

Why I Don’t Engage With Heresy Hunters

1. Heresy Hunters waste my time.

I only have 1,440 minutes in my day. If I spend lots of time with a heresy hunter, I have no time left for what is truly important to me. I never want to spend more time with a critic then I do with a friend.

The day after my wife gave birth to my son Caleb, a heresy hunter wrote me an e-mail criticizing one of my sermons. His comments deeply disturbed me. I spent hours formulating my response. I carefully addressed each of his points. When I finished, I had written him a ten-page letter. I thought I could change his mind using Scripture and logic but his reply to me was nothing but more arguments.

I realized it was foolish to spend time writing to him. Why was I wasting time arguing with a ignoramus instead of being with my wife and new-born son? When was the last time I wrote a ten-page letter to my mother? I have hundreds of people who love me and support me and it would be far better to write each of them a letter encouraging them in the Lord.

As a farmer said, “If you wrestle with a pig, you both get muddy.” Arguing theology with a blood sucking “hairy-tic-hunter” distracts me from helping someone who genuinely needs ministry.

  1. Heresy Hunters deny the clear interpretation of Scripture.

Four times the Bible says “the just shall live by faith” (Hab 2:4, Rom 1:17, Gal 3:11, Heb 10:38) so how can a heresy hunter preach against faith? The Bible says, “By his stripes, we are healed” (1 Peter 2:24), so why does a heresy hunter deny that God heals? The Bible says God gives us the power to get wealth (Deuteronomy 8:17) so why does the heresy hunter preach against prosperity? The Bible says that God blessed Abraham (Gen. 12:2), so why does the heresy hunter preach against God’s blessings? The Bible says life and death are in the power of the tongue (Proverbs 18:21) so why does the heresy hunter preach against positive confession? It is because, despite their obsession with being like the Bereans, they ignore much of the teaching of Scripture.

  1. Heresy Hunters believe in a different God then I do.

I believe in faith. I believe in healing. I believe that God is a good God. Heresy Hunters often exalt the Sovereignty of God to such an extent that they make God responsible for the evil that occurs on the earth. Often they teach that God puts sickness on people in order to teach them a lesson. Or they teach that when a hurricane hits the United States, it is an expression of God’s judgment.

  1. Heresy Hunters misrepresent the teachings of my friends and mentors.

Kenneth Copeland has given over thirty million dollars to Reinhard Bonkee to help him evangelize Africa. When was the last time a heresy hunter gave $30 million to world evangelism? First, go do something for God and then you might have the right to start correcting people.

I have heard Kenneth Copeland preach for many years. Not once have I heard him talk about us being “little gods” or about the “spiritual death of Christ.” I have heard him talk a lot about faith and love. It is unfair for heresy hunters to focus on a speculative sermon he preached back in the 80’s and to label him a heretic for the rest of his life. As one theologian said, “In essentials, unity; in non-essentials, freedom; in all things, charity.”

  1. Heresy Hunters only want to confront, they do not want to learn.

If you want to argue about prosperity then buy the book I wrote about “The Power of the Seed.” In it I examine over three hundred scriptures that talk about how God wants his children to be blessed. Perhaps I misquoted or took a few of those scriptures out of context, but there is no way I missed the meaning of over 300 verses. After you have refuted every point I make in my book, then we can talk about whether I am wrong about prosperity. But, until you have taken the time to read my writings, there is no point in us dialoguing.

  1. Heresy Hunters have rarely accomplished much for God.

Do you know why dogs bark at a passing train? They want to go where the train is going but they cannot because they are tied up.

Much criticism is rooted in jealously. Many people criticize because they can’t do. A keyboard and a blog does not qualify you to be a spiritual leader. Do something significant for the kingdom of God and you will earn the right to bring correction.

A critic is someone who never goes to battle, but appears afterwards to shoot the wounded on his own team. Criticizing other ministries is not a ministry.

  1. Heresy Hunters do not walk in love.

1 John 4:8 says, “He who does not love does not know God for God is love.” When I am called a “heretic”, a “blab-it-and-grab-it, name-it-and-claim-it leach on the body of Christ”, I don’t feel much love. Stop calling me brother to my face and heretic behind my back or on your blog.

  1. Heresy Hunters act like Pharisees.

During the time of Jesus, who was the most spiritual? Who fasted and prayed more than everyone else? Who was fanatical about giving a tithe to the Temple? Who knew the Scriptures? It was the Pharisees. What did Jesus say about the Pharisees? He called them “white-washed tombs.” He said they were clean on the outside but dirty on the inside. Knowing Scripture does not make you a good Christian.

A Word to Heresy Hunters – Turn Your Swords Into Plowshares

How are you using your words? Are you using your words to attack people or to build God’s kingdom. Words are important because they can be used for either good or for harm.

I am harvest focused. My passion is for souls. But recently, I was attacked on the blog of a self-appointed church watchdog. With his words, the blogger assailed me. He tore my ministry down. He questioned my integrity, my motives, my theology. The worst part of the assault was his misuse of Scripture to beat me up.

He used his words and God’s word as a sharp sword to cut me to pieces. After I finished reading his four thousand-word diatribe, I felt like a flayed fish, cut to pieces and laid out on a sizzling frying pan to cook. I am a big boy, I can handle the criticism, but my story illustrates an important point.

All too often, some people in the church use their words to cut others down, to attack, to injure, to hurt, to curse their brothers and sisters. In a misguided passion for truth, they even use God’s Word as a dangerous weapon to put down other believers.

The Word of God is like a sword. But it is designed to be used to attack Satan, not your brothers. Christians need to stop stabbing other Christians in the back and use their weapon for its proper purpose.

In the Garden of Gethsemane, Peter took out his sword and cut off the ear of Malchus, the servant of the high priest. Jesus bent down into the dirt, picked the ear up, and miraculously reattached it. All too often, preachers have wounded and maimed people with their insensitive, sword-wielding way of preaching of the word of God. When preachers use their words as swords, they metaphorically cut off the ears of the people they are attacking. With their spiritual ears cut off, these people become unable to hear what the Spirit is saying.

This is what happened to the religious leaders in Jerusalem. Right before he was stoned, Stephen accused them of being stubborn and uncircumcised in both heart and ears (Acts 7:51). The Pharisees and Sadducees had so much political infighting that their spiritual ears were deafened and they failed to recognize the Messiah they were waiting for.

While churches are busy attacking other churches and denominations, there is a world full of people who are going to hell. Dying humanity is crying out for help. Will the church hear their plea?

The prophet Micah prophesied that in the last days nations would beat their swords into plowshares (Micah 4:3). What was once used for war would be turned into a tool for bringing in the harvest. It is time to beat our swords into plowshares. Rather than using God’s word as a weapon for attacking others, we should use our words to encourage others to go after the harvest.

Jesus is coming soon. We need to make every second count for God. I believe the greatest harvest of souls in history will happen in the next few years. More people will be saved in the next decade than were saved in the first two thousand years of church history.

But, in order for this great harvest of souls to take place, we must stop using our words to attack each other. Instead, we must use our words to encourage one another to go after the harvest. Our words can be used either as a weapon of war or as a tool for bringing in a harvest of souls.

How To Take a City for God

 

The city of Jerusalem is known around the world. Three religions; the Christians, the Muslims, and the Jews all claim that Jerusalem is a holy city. At first glance there is no good reason for Jerusalem to be famous. It is not a port city where ships can come and off load goods. It is not next to a river, the highways of the ancient world. Why is Jerusalem so famous?

Jerusalem is famous because King David chose Jerusalem as his capital city. But, King David did not always own Jerusalem. It one time, the city was called Jebus and was occupied by men known as the Jebusites. So, how did King David come to own the city of Jebus?

And the king and his men went to Jerusalem against the Jebusites, the inhabitants of the land, who spoke to David, saying, “You shall not come in here; but the blind and the lame will repel you,” thinking, “David cannot come in here.” 7Nevertheless David took the stronghold of Zion (that is, the City of David).8Now David said on that day, “Whoever climbs up by way of the water shaft and defeats the Jebusites (the lame and the blind, who are hated by David’s soul), he shall be chief and captain.” Therefore they say, “The blind and the lame shall not come into the house.” 9Then David dwelt in the stronghold, and called it the City of David. And David built all around from the Millo and inward” (2 Samuel 5:6-9 NKJV).

The city of Jebus was on top of a mountain. It was surrounded by high walls of stone. Large wooden gates guarded the only entrance to the city. When David and his men arrived, the gates were slammed shut. It was impossible for anyone to enter the city.

The men of Jebus, the Jebusites, were extremely confident. They felt safe, hidden behind their high walls of stone. They made fun of David. They stood high on their walls and shouted down, “You shall not enter here.” They mocked, “Even if the only soldiers in the city were blind and lame, you still could not defeat them.”

EXAMPLE: The walls in the knights of Monte-Python.

But, somehow (perhaps through a spy), David heard about another way of entering the city. It was a tiny water shaft that extended from the valley all the way up the mountain and came out in the middle of the city of Jebus. Here was a flaw in the cities defenses, a tiny chink in its’ impenetrable armor.

David said, “I am so tired of these heathens making fun of me and saying that even the blind and the lame could defeat me.” David gathered his men together and promised, “Whoever climbs up by way of the water shaft and defeats the Jebusites, he shall be chief and captain.”

The term “water shaft” bring to mind a well full of fresh water. The rocks would be slippery but for a mountain climber, it would be easy to climb up, pop out of the top of the well, and surprise the city guards. Nothing could be easier! It was a brilliant secret plan.

But, as I studied this passage, I discovered several commentaries that suggest that my picture of a fresh-water well is not entirely accurate. Instead of being fresh water, it is possible that this water shaft was actually a sewer.

What is in a sewer? It is full of trash, bones from dead animals, and feces. It stinks to high heaven. It is full of rats, flies and creepy, crawly bugs. Climbing this water shaft would require more than physical strength, it would also require a strong stomach and a stopped up nose.

Never in their wildest dreams did the Jebusites imagine that someone could climb up the sewer. Who would push their way through the trash and waste gathered together in a cramped up space.

Imagine the slime and the smell. Climbing this shaft would make you gag and feel like throwing up. By the time you reached the top, you would be in no mood to fight the Jebusites. Your sword handle would be slick in your hands. This attack was no picnic. Sometimes you have to go through waste to take a city for God.

Waste, feces, poo, dung, shit, caca, stinky. It does not matter what word you use, the reality is foul.

Who was this hero?

David was surrounded by mighty men, but this mission required someone exceptional to lead. Usually, climbing through sewage is not heroic; it is a job for a trash man.

So, who would step up to this task? Who would lead David’s men? Who would earn the reward?

We have to go all the way to 1 Chronicles 11:4-6 to discover the name of the man who went up first.  And David and all Israel went to Jerusalem, which is Jebus, where the Jebusites were, the inhabitants of the land. But the inhabitants of Jebus said to David, “You shall not come in here!” Nevertheless David took the stronghold of Zion (that is, the City of David). Now David said, “Whoever attacks the Jebusites first shall be chief and captain.” And Joab the son of Zeruiah went up first, and became chief” (NKJV).

Why did Joab volunteer for this dirty task?

Joab was the leader of David’s men for many years, but against David’s orders, he killed Abner (2 Sam 3:22-39) and fell into disfavor. He murdered Abner because Abner had killed his brother in a battle. Because of this he was demoted.

The attack on Jebus was Joab’s opportunity to regain his position. This is why he stepped up and volunteered to go first.

Taking cities for God requires heroes.

I have traveled the world taking cities for God. From personal experience, I can tell you it is not always a stroll through the tulips, it is not always a walk in the sunshine.

Sometimes, it is hot.

Sometimes, it is freezing.

Sometimes, you have to take a cold shower out of a bucket.

Sometimes, it is smelly.

Sometimes, you have to use an outhouse.

Sometimes, the road is bumpy.

Sometimes, there are mosquitos.

Sometimes, you have to leave your wife and children.

Sometimes, there is conflict.

Sometimes, there is no money.

Sometimes, you sleep on a hard floor.

Sometimes, you are sick.

Sometimes, there is no food to eat.

Sometimes, you are thirsty.

Sometimes, you will have a gun pointed at you.

In order to take a city, you have to be willing to go through “dung.” Taking a city requires hard work and sacrifice. But the man who is willing to take the city will receive a great reward.

How to Avoid Burn Out in the Ministry

1. Take time for refreshment.

– Go to Conferences, read books, etc. Feed yourself.

– Don’t wait until you are already approaching burnout to recharge. Example: A dead car battery

  1. Prayer and Fasting

– We often burn out because we need a spiritual breakthrough.

– Fasting can be more refreshing then the best leadership conference.

– Put it on your agenda on a regular basis.

  1. Out Source…train up others to take responsibility.

– If others can do it, why are you trying to do it?

– If you think you have to do it all, all the time, you will burn out.

– Don’t take other people’s monkeys on your back.

  1. Take some time off for fun.

– Take a vacation…a Sabbath. Even God took a day to rest.

– Enjoy your times off.

– You cannot save the entire world by yourself.

– It is trendy to have full booking…but sometimes you are more effective doing less.

– The problems will still be there when you get home.

– Take time for your family…what value is it to gain the world and to lose your family?

– You are FIRST priest and prophet for your own family…before being a minister to others.

– You only have twenty years to be with your children…they need you.

  1. Success is a journey…not a destination.

– We are running a marathon, not a sprint.

-Run at a pace you will be able to hold all the way.   Rabbit and the Turtle.

– Slow and steady gets the job done.

– You are called to preach with your acts and deeds and words…you are not called to save people…that is God’s job. Don’t try to be the Messiah to everyone…but you can point people to the Messiah.

– Don’t try to take everyone’s burden all the time.

– Bill Cosby said, “I do not know the key to success, but the key to failure is trying to please everyone.”

  1. Admit that mistakes happen to everyone.

– We are not perfect, neither are the people around us perfect.

– In a end of the year business report, it is the BOTTOM LINE that counts. Some things in the report will be a plus, and other things will be a minus…but in the long run, it is the bottom line that counts. We may have some successes and some failures, but because God is on our side, our bottom line will always be positive.

– Reinhard Bonnke…once had a failed feeding program.

– If your horse is dead, for goodness sake, DISMOUNT. If something has failed, move on.

– The question is not “Are you going to fail.” The question is “How will you handle failure?”

– There are some mountains you will not be able to conquer.

– Failure is not a failure unless you fail to learn from it.

– Man at a company loses millions…boss is asked if he would fire him…Boss says, “Why would I fire him and waste millions of dollars worth of training?”

– The BOTTOM LINE is not number of souls saved….for God, the BOTTOM LINE is obedience.

What’s More Important? Evangelism or Worship?

Evangelism is the primary task that Jesus gave to the early disciples and that task extends to the church today. Unfortunately, there has been some confusion as to whether the church’s primary role is to be involved in passive worship or in active evangelism. To paraphrase Calvinist preacher John Piper, “[Evangelism] isn’t the ultimate goal of the church. Worship is. Evangelism exists because worship doesn’t. Worship is ultimate, not evangelism, because God is ultimate, not man. When this age is over, and the countless millions of the redeemed fall on their faces before the throne of God, evangelism will be no more. It is a temporary necessity. But worship abides forever.” (John Piper, Let the Nations be Glad, (Grand Rapids, MI: Baker Academic, 2010), 15. The original quote uses the word “missions” instead of evangelism).


Piper makes an interesting point, but during the time that the church is here on earth, the need for evangelism will never cease. It is only when one passes through the gates of heaven that the task of evangelism is over. The choice between worship and evangelism is a false one; in reality the church is called to do both. In fact, one way to worship God is through evangelism. Preaching the Gospel is worship. Jesus’ final command to the church in Matthew 28:19 and Mark 16:15 concerned evangelism, not worship. Jesus did not say, “Go and worship all over the earth” but He did say, “Go and preach the Gospel to every creature.”


The first command Jesus gave the disciples was “Come follow me” (Matthew 4:19) which is a call to worship, but Jesus immediately follows this command by saying, “I will make you fishers of men.” So, evangelism and worship are inseparably intertwined. Worship is far more than singing a song; worship of God can be reflected in every detail of how one lives one’s life, including evangelism. The church will have an eternity to worship, but evangelism is the only activity that cannot be done in heaven.

The Power of God’s Word

This is my Bible. I have read through this book seven times cover to cover. The fastest I have read through my entire Bible is five days. I have preached over 2,000 sermons holding this Bible. Some pages are torn, others are marked up so much that they are hard to read, every page contains precious promises for my life. I have over 150 pages of type written notes from my personal time with God’s word. I have done detailed studies of many of the books in the Bible.

This is my Bible. I am what it says I am. I can have what it says I can have. I can do what it says I can do.

The King James Version of the Bible contains 66 books, 1,189 chapters, 31,102 verses and 783,137 words.

The Bible contains 66 books written by around 39 different authors over 1,600 years (between approximately 1700 B.C. and 100 A.D.) in three different languages: Hebrew, Aramaic, and Greek. The authors of these books include shepherds, prophets, kings, priests, poets, students, musicians, philosophers, fishermen, a tent maker, and a doctor. It is full of poetry, proverbs, letters, laws, histories, prophecies, philosophy, and stories.

Throughout the Bible there is remarkable unity. Despite being written by many different men and in many different time periods, the entire Bible has one theme, our salvation through Jesus Christ.

We do not read the Bible in the same way that we read other books. When people read the Iliad or Shakespeare they read those books as literature. But the Bible is God’s word to you. Before you can grasp the Bible, you have to choose to believe it. If you are not willing to kneel when you read the Bible, you will never understand it.

Sharon Daugherty says, “God’s word endures forever. No matter what the circumstances are, God’s word remains the same. You can put your trust in the eternal word of God.”

If you see a Bible falling apart, it probably belongs to someone whose life isn’t. As one wise mama said to her son, “Dirty Bible, clean living. Clean bible, dirty living.”

The Bible is meant to be bread for daily use, not cake for special occasions. Through daily Bible reading you will be washed and renewed in your mind and spirit. You will be strengthened and guided by the power of the Scriptures. Set aside time each day to focus on God and His book. Don’t allow other things to choke out time in the Word. You will be transformed into the likeness of Jesus through the renewing of your mind.

God’s word is the standard that tells us how to live right side up in an upside down world. The Bible answers two important questions:

What is right?

What is not right?

How do we know the Bible is the truth? 

Here are six witnesses to the truth of God’s word from one of my professors at seminary.

  1. Internal Witness – The Bible says it is the truth.
  2. Historical Witness – 2000 years of church history.
  3. Universal Witness – The word works in every culture.
  4. Personal Witness – The Word has changed my life.
  5. Spirit Bearing Witness – The Holy Spirit reveals the truth of God’s word.
  6. Witness of others – the Word changes people’s lives.

I live my life according to the Word of God. Because of God’s Word, I am committed to stay married to my wife. Because of God’s Word, I preach the Gospel. Because of God’s Word, I love others. Because of God’s Word, I live a life of faith. Because of God’s Word, I sow seed. Because of God’s Word, I trust in the goodness of God. Because of God’s Word, I believe in healing.

Does God Cause Suffering?

Even though God’s ultimate and perfect will is for His children to be blessed, since we live in a fallen world, God’s children still suffer. As long as we live in this fallen world, there will be suffering. Jesus suffered on the cross. Paul suffered as he traveled and preached the Gospel. “To this very hour we go hungry and thirsty, we are in rags, we are brutally treated, we are homeless” (1 Corinthians 4:11 NIV). Yet, despite his suffering for the sake of the Gospel, Paul learned to be content in every circumstance. “I am not saying this because I am in need, for I have learned to be content whatever the circumstances. I know what it is to be in need, and I know what it is to have plenty. I have learned the secret of being content in any and every situation, whether well fed or hungry, whether living in plenty or in want” (Philippians 4:11-12 NIV).

In this world, the believer is promised persecution. “Blessed are you when people insult you, persecute you and falsely say all kinds of evil against you because of me. Rejoice and be glad, because great is your reward in heaven, for in the same way they persecuted the prophets who were before you” (Matthew 5:11-12 NIV). Few preachers enjoy preaching on persecution but Paul promises, “everyone who wants to live a godly life in Christ Jesus will be persecuted (2 Timothy 3:12 NIV). We must go through many hardships to enter the kingdom of God (Acts 14:22) Believers are also promised that the world will hate them (John 15:18), that troubles will come in this world, “In the world you will have tribulation,” (John 16:33), that their own family might hate them (Matthew 10:35), that suffering would come (1 Peter 3:14), that the believer would “suffer for his sake” (Philippians 1:29), and that God would discipline them (Hebrews 12:10). Christians are encouraged to rejoice even in the midst of suffering, “Dear friends, do not be surprised at the painful trial you are suffering, as though something strange were happening to you. But rejoice that you participate in the sufferings of Christ, so that you may be overjoyed when his glory is revealed” (1 Peter 4:12-13).

The Apostles suffered greatly as they preached the Gospel. Peter was crucified upside down on a cross, Andrew was crucified on a cross in Patrae, James the son of Zebedee was put to death by the sword in Jerusalem by King Herod (Acts 12:1-2), John miraculously emerged unhurt from a cauldron of boiling oil, and later he was exiled to the island of Patmos. Philip was crucified during the reign of Dominian, Bartholomew was skinned alive, Thomas was stabbed to death with a spear by Hindu priests, Jude was run through with a spear, and Simon the Zealot was sawn into pieces. Paul’s head was chopped off.

Did the Apostles suffer as they spread the Gospel? Yes, but their suffering and martyrdom was a result of Satan’s plan, not God’s best for their lives. Have I suffered as I have traveled around the world preaching? Yes, I have been shot at, had a gun pointed at me, my plane has caught on fire, I’ve had rocks thrown at me as I preached, been sick, and I’ve slept on dirt floors with bugs crawling over me all night. But, God caused none of this suffering. God is a good God and He has good plans for His children.

Some Christians are persecuted and even executed for their faith, but that is not part of God’s plan for their lives. It is the result of terrorists. Don’t blame God for the evil that exists in this world. Sometimes, God’s perfect plan does not always come to pass. God desires all men to be saved (1 Timothy 2:4), yet not all are saved. Sometimes, because of the sinful world that we live in, God’s plans do not fully come to pass, but this does not mean that God is actively planning evil for our lives or that He wills anything but the best for our lives.

Are You Loyal?

Loyalty is “consistently demonstrating support for something or someone.”  It is “a strong feeling of support or allegiance.” Loyalty is one of the most neglected character traits in the world today. Fifty years ago, people stayed in the same job for their entire careers. They were loyal to their employers and their employers were loyal to them. Now, it is common for people to jump from job to job. People also jump from church to church, and even from spouse to spouse.

Loyalty is very important to me. I started attending Victory Christian Center when I was six years old and now that I am forty-two, Victory is still my home church. Several years ago, the founding pastor of the church, Billy Joe Daugherty went to heaven and many people left the church. My family stayed faithfully through thick and thin. Now people are starting to come back, but we never left. Why? Because I value loyalty.

My wife Jessica and I have been married for almost fourteen years. Our marriage has gone through rough patches, but we are still together. Why? Because when we got married, we promised each other that we were committed to one another no matter what. Our loyalty to one another is more important than any temporary disagreement.

I have seen friends come and go. When friends leave my life, it often causes me deep pain. I want to be loyal to my friends and in return I expect them to be loyal to me. When I find that someone is a fair-weather friend, and they leave me when things get tough, it is hurtful. But, I am deeply thankful for the friends who are loyal to me and who continue to support me in the midst of difficult times. The key to loyal friendships is long-term commitment. This is the type of friend I am looking for.

One of history’s greatest examples of disloyalty was when Brutes stabbed Julius Caesar in the back. Caesar thought Brutes was his friend and he was surprised when his “friend” joined his enemies and stabbed him. The moment was immortalized by Shakespeare in his play when Julius Caesar says, “Et tu Brute?” (You too Brutes?). I agree with the person who said, “Loyalty isn’t grey. It’s black and white. You’re either loyal completely, or not loyal at all.”

In the Bible, there are many examples of people who are loyal and others who are disloyal. For example, in the book of Judges, the people followed God and then walked away from Him. This happened repeatedly. God sent judges to lead them and for a time the people were delivered from their enemies but when the judge died, the people turned away from God and fell back into sin. This tendency to be disloyal is documented in Judges 8:35, “They also failed to show any loyalty to the family of…Gideon…in spite of all the good things he had done for them.”

David was grateful for the loyalty of the soldiers of Zebulun. The Bible documents their loyalty in a list of solders who fought with King David, “from Zebulun, experienced soldiers prepared for battle with every type of weapon, to help David with undivided loyalty—50,000” (1 Chronicles 12:33 NIV).

The Apostle Paul experienced both loyalty and disloyalty. Hear his lament towards the end of his life when he was in prison in Rome, “…everyone in the province of Asia has deserted me, including Phygelus and Hermogenes” (2 Timothy 1:15 NIV), and rejoice with him for the faithful loyalty of another, “May the Lord show mercy to the household of Onesiphorus, because he often refreshed me and was not ashamed of my chains. On the contrary, when he was in Rome, he searched hard for me until he found me. May the Lord grant that he will find mercy from the Lord on that day! You know very well in how many ways he helped me in Ephesus. (2 Timothy 1:16-18 NIV).

The most loyal person in the world is Jesus Christ. He promised, “And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age” (Matthew 28:20). Jesus is one friend you can always count on. The Apostle Paul knew this truth when he wrote, “For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord” (Romans 8:38-39).

Benefits of Loyalty

Loyalty builds trust, and trust is essential for success. The key to building loyalty in relationships is by continually putting money in the friendship bank. It is important to look out for people who look out for you. Loyalty is everything.

Loyalty is not blind to wrong doing but loyalty is being kind enough to share the truth. Loyalty is sharing the truth even when it is hard. One person said, “Loyalty means I will be with you whether you are right or wrong, but if you are wrong, I will tell you and will help you make it right.”

Loyalty means being committed for the long haul. If they stand by you during the bad times, they deserve to be with you during the good times. There is a saying, “You gotta dance with the one that brought you.” For example, David and Jonathan made a covenant together. When they first made the covenant, Jonathan was the king’s son and David was just a shepherd boy. But, later David became king and he honored the covenant by taking care of Jonathan’s son, Mephibosheth (2 Samuel 9:7).
