Welcome to the evangelism podcast with Dr. Daniel King, where Daniel interviews, full-time evangelists, pastors, missionaries, and normal everyday Christians to discover how they share their faith, their powerful testimonies and amazing stories that will inspire you to reach people with the good news. And now here’s your host, missionary and evangelist Daniel King.
Evangelism Coach Daniel King (01:06):
Welcome To the evangelism podcast. I’m Daniel King, and I’m excited about telling people about Jesus today. I have a very special guest with me, Daniel Amare in Ethiopia. Thank you for being with me today.
Daniel Amare (01:19):
Thank you for inviting me for this program. I’m also very happy to be with you for this program.
Evangelism Coach Daniel King (01:26):
Well, thank you. You have actually known my wife Jessica longer than I have known her. Tell me how did you meet my wife, Jessica.
Daniel Amare (01:37):
Okay. I think about maybe more than 15 years we met with her I think when we are going to perform World Impact ministry Crusade in Kenya especially the place, I don’t know, maybe Carrie or Kaga also with Joshua Campaign, but we stay with work closely for six months there and we evangelize there. There are so many friends still. I remember them. We were having a very, very special time at that time. We are evangelizing by all our power, you know, the passion that time what we have is amazing still, you know so I’m very, very happy being known with Jessica. Jessica was my best friend at that time and she is working closely with me whenever she go. I was there and wherever I go, she was with me.
Evangelism Coach Daniel King (02:40):
I know Jessica loves you very much. Wow. And so at that time world impact ministries was the ministry led by pastor Peter Youngren, great Canadian evangelist. And Jessica was working with pastor Peter. She actually lived in Kenya as a, a missionary team leader for a year. And then she became a crusade director and helped to organize some of the world impact crusades. And so that’s where she met you. And at that time you were one of the, the sound engineers for the, the big crusade and, and you helped to, to set up the sound system and make sure all the sound was, was working. Right. tell me, what was some of the fruit that you saw the, were those big crusades?
Daniel Amare (03:34):
Yes, absolutely. You know first for the first program, we move Joshua campaign sound system and the track from Ethiopia down to Nairobi. Also we have, I think, more than six programs in Kenya and then after, and
Evangelism Coach Daniel King (03:57):
Joshua campaign is the ministry by Karl Hargestam. Yeah. He’s from the nation of Sweden and he started Joshua campaign and, and now the leader of Joshua campaign is per office. And, and we’re actually here this week in Ethiopia with Joshua campaign, many years later, they have been doing crusades across this whole part of Africa for, for 23 years now. But you were there in the very early days, the very beginning.
Daniel Amare (04:24):
Yes. I’m also the first man for Joshua campaign also. And also for pastor Peter. He, he came to Egypt and meet the Joshua campaign founder, Karl Hargestam. I was there and we were for every pro together with pastor Peter Youngren and Karl Hargestam. Then after some time pastor Peter sent his new sound system from Canada to Nairobi. I was there in Nairobi and I built another very new sound tower stage. And so many things after that with drive down to Tanzania even to Tanzi bar also, we have unforgetable mission time at that time. I think it is more than 70 years or something.
Evangelism Coach Daniel King (05:17):
You have been involved in evangelism for many years now. After you worked with Joshua campaign, then you began to work with a, another ministry here in Ethiopia that was using the tool of heavens gates. Hell’s flames to evangelize. Tell me about that and what that evangelism was like.
Daniel Amare (05:37):
Okay. the ministry called reality outreach ministry and it Lee by pastor Chris. He lived in London and he is a, a African coordinator also, and we have one ministry here. We project “Heaven’s Gate and Hell’s Flame” every night to the invited church, the churches will invite us. We go there and we project that movie. It is very powerful movie video. And so many people are surrender their life for Jesus. I served with them for about six years in six years, for sure. I can say more than 10,000 people get saved through that ministry. I remember even with one night video program, about 600 people got saved in down south Ethiopia also in ADIs ADIs is a big city and we project no we did a live drama in one of the big churches with one day presentation, about 450 people got saved here in the middle of the town.
Daniel Amare (06:55):
So it was very, very powerful. I don’t know this time I didn’t hear that much because of the politics and the living things in our country. The ministry do not act that much like when I serve. So it was very, very powerful ministry and I did with them and with Joshua is already impact ministry. You know, from the day I got saved still, I am serving God on the mission field right now, you know sometimes when Corona COVID 19 become active things are going down. So that time living is very char. So I working part-time in the church and I try to manage my families. You know, I work on one Christian international hotel as a manager, but it takes me away from ministry that was not good for me because that is not in my heart. So
Evangelism Coach Daniel King (07:57):
You obviously have a great call from your God, from, from God on your life for evangelism and a, a passion and a, and a heart for that. And, and God has honored that over the years, and you’ve done so much evangelism here in Ethiopia and, and, and now you’re, you’re working with a church here. Tell me what is Evangel like at the, at the local level, working with the church
Daniel Amare (08:23):
Evangelism, you know every church has claim that they’re doing evangelism, but when you come to the tangible things most of them are not evangelism. They’re not working evangelism, they’re promoting them because when you are evangelism, people must be God serve and must be disciples of Jesus. Then they must be attached with the church and with the ministry for the, the rest of the lifetime. So at this time somebody can hear and he, he decided to accept Jesus. Then there is no people to follow him to make, to help him to grow in the house of God. So my church, we plant a new church, maybe it’s about four months old. This time we are struggling to erect, but we put a very clear strategy and goals for our ministry. And we decide to make every new believes who came to Jesus to disciple the, and to help them to grow fully in Jesus Christ. So that make made a change. You know, this time for this time Christianity and the church politics, we call Ethiopia, this is church politics because every ministers, every, every pastors are fighting for themselves as, not for mission, not for their call. So we need to make, to push these things toward the right direction which is stated in the Bible.
Evangelism Coach Daniel King (10:09):
Let’s talk about the nation of Ethiopia for a moment. Ethiopia mentioned many times throughout scripture. Yeah. And God’s eye is upon this nation. It’s a very special nation. In fact, in the book of Psalms, it says that Ethiopia shall quickly stretch out her arms towards God. And, and we’ve seen that in our crusade, in, in ambo Ethiopia this week, thousands of people lifted up their hands it to say yes to, to Jesus. And over the years Christianity has, has grown greatly in Ethiopia. Really Christianity goes all the way back to acts chapter eight, the Ethiopian Munich, who was ministered to by the first evangelist, Philip, the evangelist. And so Ethiopia as a very rich heritage of serving Jesus. But during the, the era of communism the evangelical church at the end of that era, that they, they were very persecuted. They were tortured for their faith.
Evangelism Coach Daniel King (11:14):
Many Christians were even killed. And at the end of that peer, the, the evangelical church was only about a 3% of a nation at that time. Maybe about 40 million people. Yeah, well, today the nation of Ethiopia has 112 million people. And the evangelical church has grown from 3% to now it’s over or 20%. And so this is one of the greatest revivals in church history. Not many people know about what God is doing here in Ethiopia, but just tell me, what is it like to be a part of that and to, and, and what do you think God’s plans are for the nation of Ethiopia?
Daniel Amare (11:54):
Great and very interested question that, you know everything is, as you say in the book of God, Ethiopia mentioned more than 40 times, you know, and the first country, which mentioned before Israel also is Ethiopia. So God has a pro is for Ethiopia, and he has a covenant with Ethiopia. So what, right now we can see in Ethiopia is that his king his covenant is fulfilled because you know, Ethiopia more than 10 years, I know but the previous government is the previous administrative systems in Ethiopia are very, very harsh. And for Christianity also, you know, everywhere Christians and churches are persecuted. You can’t have a right even to have a Bible in your hand, in some part of Ethiopia, more, maybe more than half part of Ethiopia in a, and in, in some big cities only you can worship open door.
Daniel Amare (12:59):
Maybe you can express your faith boldly for anybody, but when you go to the Northern part of Ethiopia, which is right now in problem in travel with the war with the previous ruling art so that people are claimed, they are the first believers of the world. Even they claim more than Israels before Israels, they are the first believes Christian people and the original genuine Christian believes that is Al sort of church. We call it and they, they do not teach them their believes the Bible. So their Christianity is mix it, highly mix it with heroes and cultures, you know, so that thing crippled the truth. Christianity grows in Ethiopia, but be after 10 years the churches got a big chance to declare themselves as a Christian community.
Daniel Amare (14:07):
And they start evangelizing all over the country. We are doing here and there, and so many big, big Cru with Joshua campaign, the first big Crusader in Ethiopia. And I want to thank them right now. And Peter and green also did a very, very big things. And also you, as a evangelist came to Ethiopia, even we go together to the Western part of Ethiopia, you remember to the south. And we did in many, many parts of Ethiopia, a big Evangel evangelized Crucet. And there are very, very fruitful. Maybe we don’t have tangible data in the churches, but I think they are, we Christians in Egypt right now, more than 20% of the population. The other thing, what I want to say before you can see churches, maybe within one or two kilometers or distance, but nowaday, maybe 500 meters, you can get two, three churches even around us.
Daniel Amare (15:19):
Right now, we have about six churches within radius of 500 meters. So that is also sign for our girls of Christianity. And many, many ministry is, are now active in Ethiopia. Also. I am also, you know I have a mission in Northern part of Ethiopia at BARDA. There is one tribe, which is negative white of people. They claim they are Muslims, but they are not Muslims because the Muslims society, even they do not give them a chance to be with them. They are almost the people who, which are hit by other community of the Northern part of Ethiopia. They eat hippos meat and they are not good in
Evangelism Coach Daniel King (16:12):
Eat hippo meat. Yes. Is that good? Have you had some?
Daniel Amare (16:16):
Not Good. So because of that, the other people reject them, you know, they’re living at out skirts of the bar city in numbers. There are about 10,000 last year I was there for one week to study about that society because we have a plan to evangelize them. So I have five people with me who are working for that mission, and we are working with Northern bar city Christian fellowship together. And we have going to train and the pastors in the city, how to reach this unreached people to evangelize. So the other many ministries are working here and there in Ethiopia. So right now the evangelize evangelizing work is in very good way. The only thing. Now we have, have a difficult about the war or the conflict in Northern part of Ethiopia. It tax lot of evangelism workers around there because we have a plan even to move to Tua. But right now it is impossible, impossible. We believe that God may give us a good time to reach them.
Evangelism Coach Daniel King (17:34):
We are praying for the peace of Ethiopia,
Daniel Amare (17:37):
Praise God that we need the whole world need to pray because we are following the medias of the Western world. They transmit not good and genuine news because as you see now, Ethiopia is very peaceful country, but they still, every day they say Ethiopia is in danger is not good area to live even to visit. So it’s false. So fake news here and there, you know, co
Evangelism Coach Daniel King (18:09):
Well, we have felt completely safe the entire time that we have been here. And everyone that we have met here in Ethiopia has just been so welcoming and so gracious and kind to us. Let’s talk a little bit more about my wife, Jessica. Oh, okay. You knew her before. I met her. Yes. Tell me, what was she like back in the day? What was it that made it so special that to work with with my wife, Jessica
Daniel Amare (18:38):
Jessica is a wonderful woman. You know, she loves too much. Jesus.
Evangelism Coach Daniel King (18:45):
That’s why I married her.
Daniel Amare (18:46):
Yes. I know. I know. Even, you know I know you before you, you, you, you meet her. I think, so you love Jesus. She love Jesus. And that is a great combination. So you know, she also has a different hurt for me. I know I very much, because I have so many pictures in my home which is together with her. You know, when we are going to sh shine place, she’s with me, I have a picture. I have a picture with her when we go to buy something in market cultural market in Tanzania, in Kenya, in so many different places to visit zoo visit some special places. You know, I know I have a good place in her, her heart, me too, you know why I’m running to visit and to see you because I thought I may meet her through you.
Evangelism Coach Daniel King (19:52):
Well, Jessica sends her love. She is in Tulsa, Oklahoma now with our, our two children. But I know that she has great love for you and, and just really enjoyed working with the Lord hand in hand with you so many years ago brother Daniel, thank you so much for being on the evangelism podcast. Daniel Amare (20:20):
Thank you. Thank you. And I want to say Jessica just take my greetings for your kids and Jessica too. I am very pleased for what she is still doing with Jesus. Thank you, Jessica. Be blessed.
Evangelism Coach Daniel King (20:39):

In fact, I’m asking people to join our partnership program and give at least $1 every single month to help us to lead more people to Jesus. This is the greatest investment of your dollar that you can make. It’s the only investment that’s gonna matter 10,000 years from now. And now here’s your host, missionary and evangelist Daniel King.
Evangelism Coach Daniel King (01:05):
Welcome to the evangelism podcast. I’m Daniel King, and I’m excited about telling people about Jesus. Today. I am in the nation of Ethiopia in the city of ambo and I have brother Mohamed with me. He is a church planter working with Joshua campaign brother Mohamed. Thank you so much for being with me today.
Mohammed Seid Ali (01:28):
Thank you. Thank you. Thank you so much. Thank you.
Evangelism Coach Daniel King (01:33):
So Joshua campaign is led by Per Akvist. He is from the nation of Sweden, but he’s married to an Ethiopia and it was originally founded by Karl Hargestam, who is another missionary from Sweden and they have done massive gospel crusades all over the nation of Ethiopia, but a very important part of following up on new believers is planting churches because in many places there are not churches. And so brother Mohamed is leading the church planting effort. Can you tell me a little bit about the strategy that Joshua campaign is using to plant churches here in the nation of Ethiopia?
Mohammed Seid Ali (02:23):
Thank you so much for asking me this. As, as you know, that, as you said, that Joshua campaign church planting department, as one of the department in Joshua campaign we have strategy and roadmap to reach the unre people nowaday. We are planting a church in third part of Ethiopia. It’s a region that’s totally UN rich area. The nation that’s Muslims nation. So Joshua campaign together, working partner with God love covenant church together. And
Evangelism Coach Daniel King (03:06):
So God’s love covenant church is a denomination. It’s a group of churches about how many churches are, are in God’s love covenant church
Mohammed Seid Ali (03:15):
Nowadays about 70 churches,
Evangelism Coach Daniel King (03:19):
70 churches working, and you’re actively working to plant more. Yeah.
Mohammed Seid Ali (03:23):
So now just we are focusing in Eastern part of Ethiopia, just we are planning to plant 120 churches Eastern, just, we are focusing like 30 churches in five years. Next year, maybe we’ll, we’ll have 120 churches.
Evangelism Coach Daniel King (03:44):
Wow. That’s wonderful vision. And so talk to me about how you are planting churches. I know that recently Joshua campaign has purchased some motorcycles. Originally. They wanted to purchase one motorcycle for a church planter and miraculously God provided enough funds to be able to purchase four motorcycles. So what are you doing with those motorcycles?
Mohammed Seid Ali (04:08):
Yeah just we are, we are doing with those motorcycles. We are going to visit the unreached area that not go or reach the car, the vehicles, you know, that’s why we use those bikes to go there and to visit and to serve the people group, especially in a remote area. So those full motor bikes still, they are not enough just we need more motor bike and car because as you know, that CHOP’s very wide country. So especially in Eastern part of Ethiopia, we need more motorbikes and car.
Evangelism Coach Daniel King (04:53):
So you’re using the motorbikes to go into remote regions where a car cannot go. Yeah. Where there’s no other way to get there and you’re going, I’m sure it’s very bumpy. You’re going very far. Yeah. And there are no churches in these areas. Yeah,
Mohammed Seid Ali (05:13):
No churches no can car cannot reach the place. So we use those motorbike like valley. Sometimes it can be valley. It can be like, you know, mountains like that. So we use those bikes to resource people group.
Evangelism Coach Daniel King (05:31):
So how many motor bikes in vehicles do you think are needed for the, the church planters in your vision? What would you like to see?
Mohammed Seid Ali (05:40):
Okay, now we like you, like, as you, as you know that we are, we have only four motorbike for the next five, six years. Maybe we need around 50 motorbike,
Evangelism Coach Daniel King (05:54):
50 motorbikes. Yeah. And, and do you have church planters that are ready to take the motorbikes out and plant churches?
Mohammed Seid Ali (06:01):
Yeah, we already, we are now we have some around maybe 60 or 70 people that ready to train, guess we are, we gonna train them? We just focusing on them to send them out for the mission. So we need those motorbike for those guys for those missionaries.
Evangelism Coach Daniel King (06:23):
And so these are truly unreached areas that they’re going to, how are you training these church planters? I, I know Joshua campaign has a Bible school. And then do you give them specialized training to know how to plant a church in an unreached area?
Mohammed Seid Ali (06:40):
Yes. Yes, we have. We, we just have training center and also we have Bible institution also. We are just building and focusing on that. Just, we also have like based in, adema called the city Adama. Yes. We have training centers there. So we gather them and we train them how to reach a people group, how to, you know, reach the unrich area. Then we will train them how to preach the gospel one to one and how to train and give follow up for the disciples for those who served. That’s our strategy. Sorry.
Evangelism Coach Daniel King (07:27):
I know that Joshua campaign has a beautiful piece of land right next to a lake. And the goal is to turn that land into a training training center for church planters and for missionaries, for people who are going out to the nation of Ethiopia. Right now they are putting together a plan to build dormitories and meeting rooms there. And it actually has a hanger for a helicopter. The goal is to have a helicopter there, to even get to the places where the motorcycles I cannot go. And so you’re truly on the front edge of evangelism. This is true frontier evangelism that you are doing now. Your name is Mohamed. What’s your full name?
Mohammed Seid Ali (08:13):
Okay. My name is Mohammed Seid Ali,
Evangelism Coach Daniel King (08:18):
It’s. Now when people hear Mohammed, they immediately, they don’t think of Christian Church planter. They think of someone who is Muslim. Yeah. And, and, and so were you born in a Muslim background?
Mohammed Seid Ali (08:31):
Yeah, my, my family, they’re from Muslim background, my mother, my father they’re Muslim background. I also grew up from a Muslim in background and I started grow and I grew up with my family. Then suddenly I went to Yemen and I start, I had started growing school there in Yemen. So one day, you know, I met a guy and he told me that my friend do you know Moham? There is Christians missionary here. They are working here. So they are preaching gospel here. So I was very jealous. How can be like that? I don’t believe I’m shock. And so I told my IAM, the leader of the mosque and he also, he became more nervous and how it could be like this. Then he told me to go and check and survey if they, so when I go there, the place where the Christians living the place, they were missionary, they were missionary, but they are giving like volunteers, they have a hospital and they give free volunteers service for the people.
Mohammed Seid Ali (09:45):
So, but underground, they preach gospel. That was their mission. So I, then I went there and I met the guy. So the guy I asked him, who are you? Yeah. He also told me that, who are you? Then? I told him that my, my name is Mohamed, but I heard that there is some Christians working here. So he said, he asking me that, do you want any help that, yes, I’m Christian. Do you want any help? I say, I, when I saw him, he’s just young. He looks very good, handsome. So I don’t believe you are a Christian. I felt that Christians are like, you know, demon or something like that. You know, finally he touched my shoulder and something is shocked. My body, maybe demon or some spirit. So I felt deliverers, you know? So he took me somewhere and we said together, invite me coffee, some other things.
Mohammed Seid Ali (10:43):
And he said to tell me about Jesus. So he’s the best missionary he’s trained missionary. He told me about Quran. He took some verse from Quran. He build that word according to the grand. So it was excited. He, he told me that he taught me, oh, I create heaven and earth. You believe that? Yeah. I believe that that’s also written on the ground and create element Ave. How in Adam? Yeah. Yeah. I believe that. Yeah. And finally, he, he, he mentioned a lot of Bibles qu and Bibles, you know, together. Then finally he took something from the Bible about Abraham and his son. God told him to kill his son. So do you know that? Yeah, but he’s not his it’s, like I said, that it’s a smell. Okay, come on. No problem. He said, he told me that. Okay. But you know why, what the purpose that God, you know, told Braham to kill his son.
Mohammed Seid Ali (11:47):
I don’t know that. Then he revealed that the main, the court things, you know, so he said, God also loves us. You know? So he, he send his son, Jesus Christ and he die for us, you know, finally. Oh, that’s why he, God, he send Jesus to die for us. Whoa is excited. Oh, that’s why I regard saying ISA. He told me a lot of things. Also, he, he mentioned from the Quran also about Mary, about mayor Maria, you know? So, so he told me about him also. And also, you know, God, he, the world by his, the world by his word, do you believe that? I say, yeah. Also in the ground, that reason Jesus, he, the word of God Killah, he said, yeah. So God, he create a world by his word. That was, is, that was Jesus. Oh, that’s another revelation I get.
Mohammed Seid Ali (12:53):
Okay. Finally, he took me a lot of things. Then I went to the mosque, but I can to tell that what I, what I heard, what I finally, I decide to fly away from that mosque. Then I went somewhere. Then I got house rent. Then I, I got one, God, he provide another woman that she’s a Christian. Then she’s sure my neighbor one night, you know, I was sleeping. That was the amazing thing. God changed my life. I was sleeping in my room. I felt, I saw the, the dream. You know, that dream was, you know, I was sleeping. Then I, I was going to fish a fish. Then I went to the lake. Then I tried to cut a fish, but it’s not a fish. It’s the Lake’s totally dark. Then I saw a man, a white guy. He’s very nice gentle guy. I say how, how it could be like that. This is, this is, you know, dark leg. It’s not, it’s not, it looks not looks good. So why it happened like that? Then I took that person to somewhere. Then I back again, I got a lot of people there from that dark leg. Then I wake up
Mohammed Seid Ali (14:22):
The next day that woman, the Christian woman she’s fixing coffee. And she invited me to drink there. Some Christians fellowship, they have there. So there was talking about their dreams immediately. The dream that I saw yesterday night, it came in my mind and oh please, can you hear me? I got some dream in my it’s yesterday. Oh, everybody’s quiet because I’m a Muslim. Then they start to hear were my dream. I start to talk to them. Then the woman, she said, hallelujah, that I heard that voice. The first time hallelujah said, she start to pro in my life. Mohammed, I’m telling you now from this day, I’m telling you you’ll be the disciple of Jesus Christ. I’m telling you, like she took some Bible verse, you know about Peter. And he was like fisherman. He told, you know, he start to fish. He went to fish.
Mohammed Seid Ali (15:22):
But God told him that yo, you will be a fisherman. A man. You will then, oh, is there in the Bible? Yes. She took the Bible and she, she, she showed me that. Then I say the dream that I saw and it’s completely the same. Then I say, what can I do? She told me, okay, now you have to bow down. Then stretch your hand and say like this pray. Okay. I saw her and she told me everything. She told me then, okay. I will come back waiting me. Then I went to my room. I bow down there and I stretched my hand. I start to pray. Thank you, Jesus. Now I believe you. Yes, you are. Lord. You are my savior from this. I decide to receive, you take all my life. Then I decided, I don’t know the same nights. I got peace in my life.
Mohammed Seid Ali (16:22):
Then I went back to Ethiopia immediately. So I had a lot of suffering. Of course, after I decided and received, Jesus just rejected me from the fellowship and the Muslim fellowship. They rejected me from the community. And finally they deport me to Ethiopia and I made some friends here and they took, they took me to the church and I, they baptized me. Finally. I made per west, I, her to drive by. And he, he came to my by judge. And he told me about Jesus. Yeah, I’m believer. I said, but he start to, he invite me to in his house. Then he invite me, my wife and me together and his house lunch. Then he start to pro my, you have a calling in your life just, oh, it was, it changed my life. You know? Then I decide. Then he said, now you, you have to work with me. You have to, what, what can I, what, what can I work with you? He, he told me that, okay, now you’ll be my interpreter, my translator. I don’t speak English. I said, okay, no problem. I give you dictionary and Bible that encouraged me. Then I start work with him. And finally just, I became,
Evangelism Coach Daniel King (17:48):
Oh wow. And now God has made you a church planter. Yeah. And because you come from a Muslim background, yeah. You have a great heart for reaching Muslims here in Ethiopia. Are, are there many Muslims in these community where you are planting the churches?
Mohammed Seid Ali (18:04):
Yeah. A lot of, a lot of, a lot of people’s there are Muslim in, in the community. Just, we are now focusing on because we now train a lot of from like, as I told you that we have so churches in west Western part of Ethiopia. So we took some leaders from there and will train them and we will send, send them the Muslim community because the Muslims they need practical and life and love, you know? So just, I, my, my vision and my strategy is to teach them how to reach the Muslims. You know, just, you have, God has a strategy for the Muslim different strategy for the Muslims to reach, you know, so that’s my goal to train and send my, a lot of missionary in the Muslim area.
Evangelism Coach Daniel King (18:55):
Wow. That’s amazing. Well, if you have a heart to help reach unreached areas in Ethiopia, frontier evangelism, if you have a heart for planting churches among Muslim areas in Ethiopia, then I want to encourage you to start to support Joshua campaign on my webpage. I’m going to post a link to where you can get in touch with pair office and with Joshua campaign Ethiopia, and you can help to support the ministry. We need help by buying motorcycles for church planters. We need somebody to give us a car yeah. To help with the church planters. Yeah. We need help to build dormitories for the Bible school and for the, the church planting Institute that is being planted. And, and so if, if you feel like God is speaking to you and you want to help to reach people who need Jesus in the most remote areas, the very front lines of gospel evangelism that I encourage you to support Joshua campaign and be a part of this amazing miracle of what God is doing here in Ethiopia, brother, Mohamed. It is so wonderful to hear your story. You have such a beautiful testimony of what God has done and, and you are now very well educated. You’ve done your, your master’s degree in Christian leadership, and now you’re working on your, your PhD. And so God is using you in such tremendous ways. And, and God has more for you. I believe that you will see many churches planted and you will see a great harvest of souls here in Ethiopia in Jesus name. Thank you. Thank you for being on the evangelism podcast.
Mohammed Seid Ali (20:40):
Thank you. Thank you. Thank you so much that inviting me in this Evangeline Broca B thank you that also to support and stand with, with us, with this ministry, as you say that we need car, we need also you now to reach the Muslims like 500, 600 kilometer from Ababa. So we need Madras. We need a lot of dormitory, a lot of things, you know, to go to reach those area. Thank you so much. Thank you.
Evangelism Coach Daniel King (21:13):
Thanks so much for listening to the evangelism podcast. I am excited about telling people about Jesus and we could not preach the gospel without your help. Over our years of ministry, we found that we’re able to reach one person for Jesus, for every dollar that people give us. And so that means that if you would give us $1, we could start a party in heaven. In fact, I’m asking people to join our partnership program and give at least $1 every single month to help us to lead more people to Jesus. This is the greatest investment of your dollar that you can make. It’s the only investment that’s gonna matter 10,000 years from now. So if you would like to help us lead people to Jesus, please visit king ministries.com K I N G king ministries.com and help us lead people to Jesus today. God bless you

Speaker 2 (00:28):
Welcome to the Evangelism Podcast with Dr. Daniel King, where Daniel interviews full-time evangelists, pastors, missionaries, and normal everyday Christians to discover how they share their faith, their powerful testimonies and amazing stories that will inspire you to reach people with the good news. And now here’s your host, missionary and evangelist Daniel King.
Evangelism Coach Daniel King (00:52):
Welcome to the evangelism podcast. I’m Daniel King, and I’m excited about telling people about Jesus today. I’m with a very special guest Geoffrey Ijsenbruk from the great nation of Australia. Thank you for being with me today.
Geoffrey Ijsenbruk (01:07):
Thank you bro. Very much for having me, Mr. King.
Evangelism Coach Daniel King (01:10):
And so we are right now in Ethiopia, we have just completed a great gospel crusade in the city of Ambo and you have come to be a part of it. Tell me, what do you think about what God did in the city of Ambo this week?
Geoffrey Ijsenbruk (01:27):
Wow. Wow. I’ve never seen so many miracles in my life. I’ve seen a lot of miracles, but in a span of four days, thousands and thousands and thousands of salvations, thousands of miracles, I believe more than we could ever even see. Just ridiculous. I believe we’ve, God has really shaken up the, the city of Ambo and even more.
Evangelism Coach Daniel King (01:47):
Now we first met at the Christ for all Nations (CFaN) Evangelism Bootcamp in Orlando, Florida. You were a student at the bootcamp and evangelist Daniel Kolinda invited me to come and to be one of the instructors at the, the bootcamp. How did you end up going to the Evangelism Bootcamp?
Geoffrey Ijsenbruk (02:10):
I felt the call of God from, from a very young age. I was saved at 17 and essentially from, from the Geter, I knew that I, it was just like a, a sense that I had that I didn along here. I belonged doing what God wanted me to do. And I felt called to Africa. But for a very long time, I didn’t see it come to pass. I remember telling God one day in my car, I’m gonna book a, a flight tomorrow, God, and I’m gonna go tomorrow. I was only about 17 this time. And I said, I’m gonna go. And I was here and on the radio a man started preaching and he, he was preaching a message and he said, everybody wants to go to Africa. Everyone wants to go, but now is not your time. Soon, you will go. But not now. Now you need to focus on the neighborhood. You need to focus on where you live. And I, that was one of the first times that I really, God spoke to me like that. I was shocked. And when Daniel calender announced the bootcamp, I was a part of Y intake three. I saw it on his YouTube channel and it was exactly everything that God has been speaking to me about. And I knew that I had to go.
Evangelism Coach Daniel King (03:23):
And so I was one of the instructors at the Evangelism Bootcamp, and there were many great instructors. What were some of the key things that you learned while you were at the Evangelism Bootcamp?
Geoffrey Ijsenbruk (03:33):
Wow. There’s, there’s so many. They love to teach you crusade, evangelism, even just being a evangelist evangelist. I learned how to be the best part of myself, who Jesus has created me to be everything that I thought was hidden that I thought I couldn’t do. Jesus revealed in me. And suddenly I became bold. I became a preacher and every Daniel Kolenda helped to refine even my theology, my theology, the way that I each, the way that I talk to people, the way that I even love people, everything about me became more like Christ.
Evangelism Coach Daniel King (04:06):
And as part of the Evangelism Bootcamp, they always take people on an initiation to one of the crusades in, in Africa. And so you got to go to Ibadan, Nigeria. Yeah. And, and tell me what that initiation was like and what it was like being at the, the, the big flagship crusade there in Ian.
Geoffrey Ijsenbruk (04:29):
Wow. If, if you have ever seen a Reinhard Bonnke crusade or Evangelist Daniel Kolenda crusade, they are unbelievable millions of people. 1.2 million people attended over the, the course of three days, 1.2 million and 700,000 people gave their lives to Christ. In, in three days, over the course of three weeks, me and my team of 90 evangelists, we saw over 230,000 people get their lives to Jesus. This is on the markets. These are in the schools of Ibadan, Nigeria. These are genuine decision. And each and every one of these people got followed up. We gave them decision books. We gave them everything. We saw miracles, deaf ears, blind eyes open every single day, we saw arms grow out. We saw people, supernaturally regain gain the ability of just supernaturally learn English. I can go on and on. There’s so many things that God had done in that crusade.
Evangelism Coach Daniel King (05:30):
You feel that God has called you to be an evangelist. Yeah. And God’s given you a name for your ministry. What’s the name of your ministry?
Geoffrey Ijsenbruk (05:38):
My name of the name is all about Jesus.
Evangelism Coach Daniel King (05:41):
I love that. What a tremendous name, because really it is all about Jesus. Jesus is the one that we lift up as evangelists. And so you’re living in the country of Australia. And I believe that there’s much evangelism to be done in Australia. What’s it like telling people about Jesus in Australia? Have you have you done that?
Geoffrey Ijsenbruk (06:04):
Yeah, me, I organize a team and we go out every Friday night, you know, it’s, it’s been, it’s really tough Australians. They’re, they’re very cut off from Christianity. But when the holy spirit comes, you see people start to cry. People who said they didn’t even believe in God, they come and they give you a hug. They said, I really needed that. Cuz when the holy spirit fills them, they, they feel something they have never felt before. They feel something that feels real for the first time in their life. And I believe there’s a revival coming in Australia. And if you’re Australian watching this, get ready for the revival, equip yourself and get under a great evangelist and start to learn. Start to learn even someone like Mr. King here. He has great sermons and great training on young for young evangelists.
Evangelism Coach Daniel King (06:52):
Let’s talk some about the future in what God has placed in your heart. Art. What are some of the dreams? What would you like to do as an evangelist?
Geoffrey Ijsenbruk (07:04):
Oh, there’s, there’s too many things I’d love to do. The, the biggest thing is I wanna see the world saved. I wanna see salvation after salvation, after salvation. I believe that my generation, our generation, we will see the come to Christ that has ever seen before. And I, I don’t say that to, to boast or anything. This is gonna be built on every single one of the, the people who have come before us, it’s gonna be built on their shoulders. And I believe we’re gonna see incredible harvest. The vision that I have for all about Jesus is firstly, I’m believing to see more than a million souls come to Christ. We’re gonna have crusade evangelism similar to what Daniel King does, crusade evangelism from country to country. We’re also gonna be equipping churches in those cities, but I also want to hit the, the countries that have really never really been hit by the gospel and have never had a lasting impact. I come from a place called Japan, mom, his she’s Japanese, I’m half Japanese. I have a vision to bring revival to Japan, to see the streets of Japan flooded with the gospel to see a place that is known for the suicide rate to begin to know Jesus as their savior. So many more. We wanna plant churches as well so that people in Japan can have a safe place to go. Even countries like Philippines. Yeah. So many different things.
Evangelism Coach Daniel King (08:27):
Amen. Well, I believe those dreams come from the Lord and over the, the years to come, you are going to see God do tremendous things through your life. And this week here in Ambo, Ethiopia ha has really been tremendous. You, you really came to participate to be a part. And, and I just so much appreciate that you came with a servant’s heart, just ready to do anything. And, and you’ve been doing lots of different things. I mean this one day you’re taking pictures another day you’re sharing your testimony on the platform another day you’re you’re you’re down beside the platform, laying hands on deaf people and praying for the, the ears to be opened. And, and so this has been just tremendous having you here and you really came just with a heart to do whatever it took to, to help us have a, a successful cruc, but you’re still in the beginning stages of the ministry that God has for you. And, and one of the big reasons that you came, I think was just to, to learn. And so what are, what are some of the things that you, you feel you’ve learned this week good or bad, or, or what, what are some of the, the, the lessons that you’ll take with you?
Geoffrey Ijsenbruk (09:33):
I’ve learned so many things for, from healing, the sick to essentially preaching a simple gospel message. You, you preach the message and it was on the, the second nine of the crusade. So clear, so clear that even, even someone who maybe like a six year old, I really believe a six year old could even comprehend that. So simple that many times we complic too many things about the gospel, but I really learnt how to preach a simple gospel message about healing, the sick. And even it gave me watching, watching you and pair evangelist pair organize this crusade. It gave me this hope and this joy that I know that I can do the same. It gave me this sense that, wow, wow, I’m gonna be doing this. I’m gonna be doing this. And it made it realistic as well. I, I loved every single part of it. It’s been so, so important to me. Yeah.
Evangelism Coach Daniel King (10:27):
The, the message that I preached was on the four greatest miracles in the Bible, miracle. Number one, God created you miracle. Number two, God loves you. Miracle. Number three, God saves you Nu miracle. Number four, God heals you. And, and you’re right. It is very simple. But it’s powerful. And, and I actually preach the exact same message in two different services during the crusade. And some people will say, well, why are you preaching the same thing again? Well, because those are such powerful truths. Yeah. God hated you. Yeah. God loves you. God saves you. God heals you. And I, I hope that long after the, the people that were there, forget my face, that they would still remember those powerful truth. That, that, oh, wow. God created me. God loves me. God, God is the one who saves me. And so I encourage you to, to preach that same message you, I give it to you. You can go and preach it at, at your crusades.
Geoffrey Ijsenbruk (11:25):
Actually, I saw when I was out with my friend Evangel, Daniel Patterson a man approached us and he actually, we, we began to talk to him, took some photos and everything. And he told us, he said, wow, you were the one preaching the message and everything. I remember that message. I remember everything. And it’s so powerful. Like everything that you were preaching was so powerful, cuz you’re right. It sticks in their brain. And a man, a random guy came up to and, and noticed us and noticed everything. And he remembered the message. So powerful.
Evangelism Coach Daniel King (11:57):
How old are
Geoffrey Ijsenbruk (11:58):
You? I’m 23, 23.
Evangelism Coach Daniel King (12:00):
And so you’re very young starting out in ministry, but I believe that God is raising up a new generation. And so what advice would you give to this new generation?
Geoffrey Ijsenbruk (12:11):
Wow. That’s you? Yeah. As a, as a 23, 3 year old, I wanna give advice cuz I really, one of my passions as well is raising up the next generation. Even though I am part of the next generation, I really believe there’s gonna be a generation walking in things like miracles, sign wonders and incredible things that are even unimaginable to us. Biggest advice that I could give you is don’t let go and don’t let anybody destroy your passion for Jesus. Too many times. People of religious mindset have come and they’ve tried to shift my love for Jesus, but I’ll tell you stay the course stay the course. Jesus. He has a calling for you. He has a, a purpose for you. And you know what? I never got prophesied that I’ll go to the nations. Nobody ever came to me, no one ever prophesied you’re going to the nations, but I believed it in my heart. And Jesus, he honored that and you where I am now, we’re in the city of a country of Ethiopia. See God has a purpose. He has a calling over your life, believe in it. And he will honor and respect it and he will make it come to fruition. Yeah.
Evangelism Coach Daniel King (13:21):
Well Jeffrey, Thank you so much for being on the evangelism podcast.
Geoffrey Ijsenbruk (13:30):

Welcome to the evangelism podcast with Dr. Daniel King, where Daniel interviews, full-time evangelists, pastors, missionaries, and normal everyday Christians to discover how they share their faith, their powerful testimonies and amazing stories that will inspire you to reach people with the good news. And now here’s your host mission evangelist Daniel King.
Evangelism Coach Daniel King (01:04):
Welcome to the Evangelism Podcast. I’m Daniel King and I’m excited about telling people about Jesus today. I have a very special guest with me evangelist. Suli Akoteu from Tongo in the south Pacific. Thank you for joining me today.
Suli Akoteu (01:21):
Thank you. Thank I give you Daniel. It’s a privilege and order.
Evangelism Coach Daniel King (01:24):
So we are in Ethiopia. Yes. We have just completed a big crusade. Yes. In Ambo, Ethiopia. Yes. And you came yes. All the way from Uganda where you’re a missionary to participate in this crusade. What did you think about what God did this week?
Suli Akoteu (01:42):
It was so powerful. It’s like, it’s, it’s unexplainable seeing the move of God, not only more salvation, but we have seen the miracle and sign and healing, all those accompany, the, the, the starvations of the people I’m. So still not yet really kind of seeing how the Lord was doing in humble.
Evangelism Coach Daniel King (02:08):
Now this is actually the, the second time that you’ve come to Ethiopia to have a crusade with us. And the first time actually, there was a big problem. The crusade was scheduled, right. When COVID was for, are starting exactly in 24 hours before I was scheduled to get on the plane to come to Ethiopia. Yes. We had to cancel the crusade because the nation of Ethiopia said that no large gatherings were allowed. We, we, we literally could not even get into the country because there was a 14 day quarantine. Yes. But you were all already here in the country. You had come to the crusade. Yes. Two weeks early. Yes. In order to go into preach in the marketplaces and invite people to come to the crusade and, and, and you ended up getting stuck here in Ethiopia. And what was that like? Getting stuck in Ethiopia?
Suli Akoteu (03:01):
My goodness. Do explain that one is also unexplainable because come all the way from the small island con in the south Pacific to being with my family in Uganda. And that is the first time for me to experience crossing the port. And everything’s just closed down. We will rush from, from, to come to the airport, but everything is too late. I remember just in the hotel, like talking to my wife, my wife said, SU the power is off. Our vehicle is not even running. And then the water stop. I, I just went, I don’t know how to explain, but all I know that the one that he called me here to just to preach in albumin, he’s the one who’s going to look after my family. I just feel somehow very difficult to to, to, to cope with. But I know the one that he’s calling me, he’s promise that I will be with you even to the end.
Evangelism Coach Daniel King (04:01):
So you are from Toga, but you are serving God as a missionary in Uganda. And so when you came to Ethiopia, Uganda actually closed the doors for people to go back into the nation, cuz they were so worried about COVID. So you got stuck here, not just for a week or, or two, but for several months, the crusade was in March. And then April, may you were still stuck here in Ethiopia at the time your wife was pregnant. Exactly. With twins. Yes. You didn’t know it. You already had five kids, but, but you, she was pregnant with twins and you were worried whether you would get back in time for your wife giving birth. And so you really made a great sacrifice to come to that crusade. And I want to say, thank you so much for your dedication in, in your faith that you would come back a second time after a, a horrible experience like that. So it it’s so great having you here this week and this week you’ve been so amazing. You you’ve taken steel bars and bent them in half as an illustration. Tell me, what does that mean when you break the steel bar in, into U shape?
Suli Akoteu (05:19):
Every, every power feed that we are using that has a message behind. So when, anytime that we are making pending the eye on bar, we just demonstrating that we are in a prison, but we always used to tell people the prisons of sin, only one person can set you free from the prisons of sin is Jesus Christ. So that’s why we used to pan in our head sometimes in our ti sometimes is our nose, but we just, that how the things that we are doing, we just spend it just to demonstrate court’s power.
Evangelism Coach Daniel King (05:49):
And so you are a member of team extreme? Yes. A ministry that’s led by Kevin Stark. Yes. And both of you are YWAM missionaries. Yes. But how did that happen? That you from the nation of Tonga became a YWAM missionary in Uganda? How did that happen?
Suli Akoteu (06:12):
Let me go back a little bit to the, the beginning I was, I was joining YWAM in 98, 19 98. In 2000, I was doing the school of front mission. We do church planning in the west Africa the nation called Kana. So I worked there for four years and after four years, the Lord spoke to me. I have to go and top the program of team X him, because one day I was walking into the market and I saw one man doing his witchcraft and I see the way how he draw a crowd to himself. And then I just felt wrongly. The Lord said, go back, go back and join the team extreme. And then you adopt that strategies come with it to Africa. So I did 2007, the, the beginning of 2007, I have to went back Toma to the worm, Toma little did I know one person there with the wife, they already established the pioneer, the team extreme.
Suli Akoteu (07:06):
That is how, and then in two they do 2010. So I took a team to Uganda, purposely to stay in Uganda for a life. Me and my wife. We have no kitchen that time, but we have a problem with our visa. Only seven months. They just, they tell us to just leave the country. So we went back to Toma. I was thinking maybe I will not come back to Africa, but inside me, I still feel that the law just put a patent on me. You have to go back to Africa. So in 2018, that’s where we pray. And we feel the Lord just called us to work in Uganda. Since then we were here serving with my family there in Uganda, in Wawa.
Evangelism Coach Daniel King (07:49):
And tell me about the ministry that you do in Uganda. What type of ministry are you engaged in and, and what type of miracles are you seeing God do in the nation of Uganda?
Suli Akoteu (08:00):
Actually I Uganda the ministry that I’m leading there, I’m leading the Evangel, combined with the team extreme in Wawa, Uganda Cland. So we are working there. I’m leading the evangelism. We used to go to prison. I have seen creating miracle and God using this strategies to show to the prison, how value are them and all the things that just take place. When we are in there, we used to go to prisons. We go to hospital, we go to street and we also move from village to village, just running seminar, teaching the people on the evangelism, the church member, those who have potential for the evangelism we teach, we take them out. We do evangelism. And then we also running crusade in that community. Yeah, that is what we, we have seen. We, we see a lot of young people. They have the passion to move on and continue telling Jesus about others. And we also seeing miracle, also healing in the church. This is a great need in the church, in new Uganda. And also we are responsible in our wild base. Hosting teams come from different places. Some from us, Hawaii, some from Germany, some from Egypt, some all over the world. We are, the people also are facilitate them as moving together with us doing the same thing of winning soldier, the kingdom. That is what, the things that we are doing in new Uganda.
Evangelism Coach Daniel King (09:21):
The other day, I heard you share your testimony. It was so powerful. How you came to Jesus. Te tell me a little bit about what God did in your life to, to help bring you to the cross.
Suli Akoteu (09:34):
Very, very awful. I share my T my testimony. I was growing up in a Christian family. My parents, they always go to church, their, their preacher. My, my mother was a prayer warrior. I was thinking that I also, I I’m safe. So I always attending church activities. But little did I know when I was growing up, they took me to our school, our Methodist school in our country. One day, I I’m very good in rugby. So I’m, I’m be part of the team rugby. And then in 1998,
Evangelism Coach Daniel King (10:04):
I’ll bet that if someone’s facing you under rugby field, they run in the opposite direction. Yes,
Suli Akoteu (10:10):
I amazing. So I, because of that, I like rugby and I know this is a talented God lesbian with, so we represent donga in 19 90, 80, there was a world school championship that was held in, in Al Zimbabwe. This is my first time in Africa. And that is the kind of encounter. Even on that time, I haven’t experienced having the relationship with God, but I was having an encounter one day. They took us in a bus to assume. And then when I looked down, I saw a old lady putting a firewood on the head. When I looked down, I just, I don’t know. I now, I, I, when I, now I can, maybe this is the holy spirit. It just afford, or maybe a voice saying Sui, I am going to bring you back to Africa. So just things dismiss. I went back to Donna and one day I remember in 97, I heard a missionary told me that God still speak my father, my mother, and all the pastor in the school where I was attend.
Suli Akoteu (11:09):
They never said this, that God still speak this days. So, because of that, I met a missionary, told I know a school, they were teaching how to hear the voice of court. And then I joined because I wanted to hear the voice of court. I wanted to affirm this one that I hear in Zimbabwe. Is it true or not? So I have to attend in a school called discipleship training school in YWAM. That is where I joined YWAM. And I said, I want to hear God. And the staff told me, so the only way for you to hear the voice of God is for you to have a personal relationship with Jesus. So I remember 25th of September 1998. I was knee down in that house and I raised my hand and I said, Jesus, come into me, my heart and be my Lord. And my master from today, I will follow you since that, that time I work, I follow Jesus until now.
Suli Akoteu (12:04):
And then when 2000 there is a school called school for, from mission. They train missionary. So they, I was attending the train. And when they trained, the teacher came to us and said, you choose this free nation, pun, India, or CIP in Micronesia or Canada in his Africa. I told them I will not, I, I’m not going to pray again, because I remember when God spoke to me in Saint a boys in Zimbabwe, I will bring you back to Africa. And I just, I, they agree. And then I went to Uganda, to Canada, work in Ghana, and then from Ghana compared to, to, I took a team there. So now I’m in Uganda. That is how the Lord just changed my life. And then I have seen how God using me to Uganda in Uganda.
Evangelism Coach Daniel King (12:53):
Yeah. I’m so amazed that God has brought you from Tonga to be a missionary in Uganda, because a Tonga is not a wealthy nation as wealthy as, as maybe like America would be. And, and so sometimes people from nations like Tonga might think, well, never become a missionary. I, I don’t know how God would provide for me to go to another country and, and live in another country. But, you know, God can use anyone from any nation and he can make a way, and God is the, the provider. But can you tell me what has that experience been like coming from a nation like Uganda, having a big for family seven children now. Yes. And your wife it takes a big step of faith to, to launch out and to become a missionary. How have you seen God provide for you over the years?
Suli Akoteu (13:46):
It was so powerful. I always talk with Kevin stuck my, my boss in the team extreme. And he said, this kind of, of a weakness of you guys from the island, you feel ashamed to share what the Lord, what, what, what is your need and what you do because you, you know I just, I’m, I’m, I’m very confident to say that God, in his own way, he speak to people and send money to us in Uganda. I am saying in the presence of God, we are so amazed. And before we came to Uganda, you know I have a courage to tell the people of Uganda to challenge them. Don is a fat world. Uganda is a fat world. That world label, as we are poor, look at me and my, my family, you guys call us a white people. We are not white people.
Suli Akoteu (14:34):
We are the same. Like you, we are coming here to do the work of what you can do the same thing to move from out from Canada, from Uganda. So I just to cut it, that explanation short, the Lord will provide in his own way. Even now my wife call me there’s are people just calling them? They just show what I’m doing here in Ethiopia. And they just send money. We never ask. We never even share with them that we need money. They just the Lord in his own ways. And he keep his promise. Sometimes the people said, you, you, you are lying. How can you survive with your seven children here in yo, Uganda? And you come from con both of you are both the local con. So just God himself provide.
Evangelism Coach Daniel King (15:22):
So what advice would you give to someone who maybe is, is living in a, a poor country where, where they don’t have very many resources, but they feel a call from God that they want to be used by God. They, they maybe even want to go to another nation to become an evangelist or a, a missionary. What advice would you give to someone who feels called by God, but maybe comes from a nation with not many resources?
Suli Akoteu (15:50):
I think for me, is that important. You need to hear from the, the Lord, because in, we, we wire him, the first things we teach, we need to hear the voice of God. Because if you want to go anywhere, you have to hear from him. If God himself speak to you to go to another country and he himself will responsible for what you want. Ali, for example, before I came here, I have 12 local yo Uganda, that I work with them, all of them know support. They don’t have any money. I remember very well. We were fasting and praying and they said, Suly, we don’t even some of them, they’re not even paid their six month. Some of them, they in five. So they’re all old. They don’t, they don’t know where the money come from. I told them let’s come let’s you guys come, we are going to pray.
Suli Akoteu (16:40):
And we are going to seek the vision of God. When we pray the Lord, give us the word from the book of second colonial chapter 20, the, the story of, of see ho when the, the army of army night and more by they come to attack them, they will never even ask help. They just call the country to come together. They pray and fast and ask the Lord for help. The Lord says, yes, the fight as house of heart, because you do the right things. I, this battle is not yours. It’s mine. So they position themself, praise in God. When they reach to the, the pedal field, they only see that they demand. So I told them my guys let’s come six to seven every morning, four times a week in a week, we are going to praise only praise God, Daniel.
Suli Akoteu (17:33):
We do it. Start Tuesday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, the Lord clear up. And now I come here, they went to the, in the lake, Victoria in Uganda, there is 250 islands. They went there with a visions of why I’m called to end by poverty. They went there, distribute pipes. And the same time they do eventually, and also go to school. So this is what my advice, my advice here, the word of the Lord. And if God tell you to do, he will direct you to do what he wants you to do. Maybe he wants you to do raising. Maybe he wants you to write the letter and say, are your need with some people that you are going to collect. But if the Lord says praise and worship and wait, the, the fight is for me, don’t waste your time. Just do what God tell you do to pass what the fire is in you. No one will stop you.
Evangelism Coach Daniel King (18:27):
That’s awesome. Yes. Well Suly thank you so much for being on the evangelism podcast. I am so happy to know an evangelist from the island of PGA, and it’s so exciting to see what God is is doing through your ministry. And I’m so grateful that you’ve come to be with us here in Ethiopia this week, the Lord bless you and your ministry.
Suli Akoteu (18:48):
Hallelujah. Thank you very much. I am really honor, just to be part of the Daniel King ministry. I have learned from you. I have learned from Kevin, I’ve learned from each other, the team, and I feel that I’m growing what, the things that I already experience with my small ministry in yo Uganda, my takeaway from this door, it will power. And I want to say, thank you very much for allowing God or you, or also for you inviting me to be part of this tour. I have seen that great move of God and just motivate me and elevating my spirit to continue winning soul in yo Uganda, to the kingdom of God. God bless you.
Evangelism Coach Daniel King (19:28):
Thanks so much for listening to the evangelism podcast. I am excited about telling people about Jesus and we could not preach the gospel without your help. Over our years of ministry, we found that we’re able to reach one person for Jesus, for every dollar that people give us. And so that means that if you would give us $1, we could start a party in heaven. In fact, I’m asking people to join our partnership program and give at least $1 every single month to help us to lead more people to Jesus. This is the greatest investment of your dollar that you can make. It’s the only investment that is gonna matter 10,000 years from now. So if you would like to help us lead people to Jesus, please visit king ministries.com K I N G king ministries.com and help us lead people to Jesus today. God bless you

Welcome to the evangelism podcast with Dr. Daniel King or Daniel interviews. Full-Time evangelists, pastors, mission and, and normal everyday Christians to discover how they share their faith, their powerful testimonies and amazing stories that will inspire you to reach people with the good news. And now here’s your host, missionary and evangelist Daniel King.
Evangelism Coach Daniel King (00:57):
Welcome to the evangelism podcast. I’m Daniel King, and I’m excited about telling people about Jesus today. I’m here with my great friend, Kevin Stark. He is the leader of team extreme, a missions team that has gone all over the world and tell told literally thousands and thousands of people about Jesus. Kevin, thank you for being with me today.
Kevin Stark (01:19):
It’s an honor to be here, Daniel I’m to not only do the interview, but do missions with you in several countries around the world and see so many people come to Jesus.
Evangelism Coach Daniel King (01:29):
Now, I think we originally met on an airplane headed down to Honduras. We were, we were doing One Nation One Day in Honduras. Yes. And in that event, 18 crusade happened simultaneously. And I was doing one of the cities. And I think your team was doing one of the other cities. Yes. And since then we’ve become friends. Yep. And we have gone to several countries together. Right now we’re in the nation of Ethiopia. We just finished a beautiful week where we saw thousands of people come to Jesus Ambo, Ethiopia. And before that we’ve been in Mongolia Belize. I know there’s another one.
Kevin Stark (02:13):
Oh gosh, Belize, Mongolia, Honduras…
Evangelism Coach Daniel King (02:25):
Yeah. So, so here we are. We’ve done so many things that we can’t remember what countries we’ve been to.
Kevin Stark (02:31):
It’s funny. Yeah. It’ll it’ll come one of those countries, but yeah, it was good. It was, oh,
Evangelism Coach Daniel King (02:37):
Myanmar
Kevin Stark (02:38):
Myanmar, Yeah.
Evangelism Coach Daniel King (02:39):
And we’ve seen God do great fruit from the festival in Myanmar. That was just tremendous. I in fact Myanmar was really wonderful. We were there with my friend do Lao and, and because of that festival in, in Myanmar now there has been lots of ministry that’s happened in the nation of Myanmar and your ministry is helping to facilitate some of that, that ministry there. All right. So let’s talk about team extreme, this ministry that God has given you, first of all, what is team extreme?
Kevin Stark (03:09):
It’s a long story. I’ll give you the short version, but Team Xtreme is an evangelism team. So we preach the gospel everywhere. Anyplace schools rise, stadium events, VBS does any place. There’s an open door and open ears will preach the gospel. And it’s really a, the, the, the main part of it. It’s it’s Jesus, it’s the gospel it’s signs and wonders miracles, but we use athletes and strength feats in other things to on non Christians to an event. So that’s sort of the hook and the draw. And then we have guys that are breaking bricks and bending steel bars. But we also have guys that are, you know, dunking, basketballs, dribbling, soccer balls, all sorts of different things, but it’s you know, sports is sort of that universal language that sort attracts people. So they think they’re coming to see some strong man lift some weights, but we talk about the strongest man of all Jesus. And they come to the Lord in the droves. It’s a, it’s been a great 25, no about 30 years. We’ve been doing it all around the world.
Evangelism Coach Daniel King (04:16):
And so when someone breaks a brick or a steel bar or rips a, a phone book in half or, or curls up a frying pan using their bare hands. Yeah. Each one of those feats of strength have a little object lesson that you use to, to share the gospel. Well, what are some of the object lessons that you teach from those feats of strength? Well,
Kevin Stark (04:37):
The steel bar is we talk about being behind bars of sin and the phone books. We rip phone books in half when we call those the devil’s book of death and your sins are written in the devil’s book, but when God comes, he grabs the book. And when you give your life to him and he rips the book up and throws it away far as from east and in the west the bricks, a lot of times we’ll talk about sin. So each brick will repent different sins. It could be, pornography could be, addictions, could be lies, get to be anger. And then we do a little drama where God’s on one side and man’s on the other side. And man, you know, he is trying to break the wall down, you know, cause we all have walls in our life and, and trying to get rid of the sin through good works or, or whatever. But then when he gives us life to Jesus, Jesus comes in and breaks the wall down and they hug each other. And there’s that show of a, you know, of unity. And so yeah, just, we, a lot of the guys are big, huge, strong guys that love to lift weights. They love to eat, but they love to to battle the devil and see people come to Jesus. Yeah.
Evangelism Coach Daniel King (05:45):
And you have team extreme teams that are in nations all over the world. I remember one time I was in the nation of India and I met a man who actually was one of the strongest men in all of India. He had competed in Mr. Universe and in some really big strength competitions. Yeah. And I started talking to him and he is like, yeah. Kevin Stark has been training me how to share the gospel using my strength and this guy could pull cars. Yeah. It was amazing. And so tell me about some of these different countries that you’ve impacted. Yeah.
Kevin Stark (06:18):
You know, we started with one team, we weren’t planning to multiply, but you know, that’s what God does. He multiplies. And a lot of my team members are from different nations and God just sort of brings them in different ways, different means. And then eventually they say, well, I think I want to go start my own team in New Zealand. And we have a team in para way and we have teams in India and Philippines. And so they just sort of stay and train with us for a couple years and then they go start their own evangelism team. And so that’s been the fun thing. I mean, you know, in Ephesians four talks about training other evangelists, just you’re evangelists. That’s like one of your main things is to train other evangelists. So, but it was just sort of organic. It was like, God did it. We got to be really close friends. And then we commissioned them now to, and it’s just a way to multiply, getting evangelism evangelists all over the world. Now
Evangelism Coach Daniel King (07:07):
I’ve heard you share a, a great testimony of your team in Norway that we’re on a television program. Tell me what happened.
Kevin Stark (07:14):
Oh yeah. It’s just, you know, God is opened up. You knows supernaturally, suddenly doors. We weren’t looking Isaiah 22 says he’ll open up doors that no man could open. And so several of our teams have been on the talent shows. So Norway has talent. It’s their own sort of, sort of like America’s got talent. And so they got invited to that. And our Norway, our team of nor just crazy Vikings, they have long hair. They seem like they just got off the Viking boat. They’re crazy insane. But yeah, they, they did their show and I think they got to the semifinals and they only have about three minutes to put all these different strength feats in there. And so they’re running through two by fours, breaking big, blowing up hot water bottles, band need steel bar, breaking baseball all within three minutes. And it’s just as fast, you know, high energy. And at the end, they all get together in the middle. There’s about five of them. And they’re speaking this broken
Speaker 5 (08:11):
Jesus is Lord over nor Jesus is Lord.
Kevin Stark (08:16):
And this is secular show. It’s going all over the Nordic nations. And then they run up to the judges and they say,
Speaker 5 (08:22):
We want to give you a Bible, read the Bible. Jesus loves
Kevin Stark (08:26):
You. And so this is being show all over the place. And then the judges, you know, they’re not Christians at all. And the one judges go, that’s amazing. That’s not like my Lutheran church growing up. But anyhow, they did really well went to the semi-finals and it was a great open door. They have, they think they have their own TV show that they do now. So, you know, people like things that are extreme different, but then you just, it opens up their heart cuz to hear the gospel. So that’s a beautiful thing, thing about it.
Evangelism Coach Daniel King (08:57):
And your ministry is connected with YWAM. And for many years you worked with Mark Anderson who actually wrote a great book on crusade evangelism. I reviewed his book as part of my doctor to ministry at U and into it and, and his defense of, of why crusade evangelism sure can be effective. And, and so tell me like some of the things that you did with Mark Anderson and, and his ministry over the years,
Kevin Stark (09:26):
You know, mark launched this whole thing called impact world tour. It was his vision to fulfill the great commissioner, being a part of fulfilling a great commission. And he just had this idea to use three different teams. One is team extreme international. One is a group called GX international and they’re hip hop dancers and, and, and skateboarders and, and rap artists. The other one’s called island Breezer Polynesian dancers. So it fits and reaches different demographics, you know, and I think one of the key key things with evangelism is reaching felt needs, you know, so young kids have felt needs, you know, we would fill stadiums all the time because they wanted to see some people that were doing hiphop dance or spoken word or skate or, you know, but they would never step in a church, you know? So mark started to organize these things, big visionary, very Apostol.
Kevin Stark (10:17):
We probably went to over 70 nations, over 3,400 cities in the last 30 years. And our citywide campaigns are not just one, one event. So it takes him six months to two years to set the event up. So he brings all the church together. He organizes the cities, they book all the venues, they raise all the budgets. So I mean, as an evangelist and I’ve talked to other evangelists, like we didn’t have to ever raise the dime of budget. He set up all of these, you know, events in over 3000, 400 cities over, you know, 30 year span. And we just got to go do the things we love to do to preach the gospel. So it’s like, I just took it for granted at that time. But now we’re not really doing a lot of stuff with mark and we’re raising our own budgets and, you know, grinding it out for finances and stuff. But yeah, it,
Evangelism Coach Daniel King (11:08):
That’s a great way to do it. If you can find someone to raise the budget for you.
Kevin Stark (11:11):
Oh, it’s, it was amazing. But you know, gosh, from the very first alter call, you’re doing stuff today. It’s still, I still weep. I still, it still breaks my heart. It’s like you know, I know mostly Evangel watch this show and it’s the thing we live for. It’s the thing God created us to do. So you never grow tired of it. I mean, I turn 66 tomorrow and I still travel and preaching the gospel, telling people about Jesus. Amen.
Evangelism Coach Daniel King (11:37):
Yeah. You are a, a very experienced evangelist. I described you to my friend pair office as a, as a battle scar general, you have been through a lot of battles and, and you have done a lot of evangelism and now God is raising up a new generation of young evangelists is really exciting to see what’s happening. And, and so what’s some of the advice that you would give to a young evangelist or someone who has a heart and passion for evangelism. Yeah. What would you say to them?
Kevin Stark (12:07):
I mean, it all goes down to the word of God to great commandments. Love, God, love people. I mean, you gotta go a basic, I used to be an Olympic coach for a number of years in a division one football coach. And it goes back to the fundamentals. You do the fundamentals, right? You stay humble, stay faithful, be obedient to the next thing God wants you to do, you know, and, and be faithful. And it’s all those basic things, you know, it’s just like, sure. Some of them, some people are gonna see more miracles than others. Some are gonna see more salvations, but it’s really just loving God. And that means spending time in the world, spending time in worship, you know, our team would you know, be in locker rooms before a show and just crying out for the presence of God, crying out for souls, weeping for people.
Kevin Stark (12:53):
And anytime we could get into the presence into the glory, into where we would get filled up, that would be the passion into the word. So it’s just like you can get so busy that you forget the basics and you know, you know, it’s the, the things that, you know, like great evangelists, like bill Graham, don’t touch God’s glory, God’s gold, God’s girl girls, you know, it’s like those basic things. But I think if you’re, you’re in fellowship with Jesus, you’re in his presence daily, it keeps you from falling in those pits, you know? So in the word, in his presence and just loving God and loving people, having other people around you to keep you accountable, you know, that you can say to them, if you see something that’s wrong in my life, I want you to run to me and tell me exactly what it is, having those people around you and not just having yes.
Kevin Stark (13:46):
People around you. And you know, also listen to wise council you know, at the early days, I’d go to every revive I could got prayed over by every great evangelist I could impartation. And that’s really good too. And just listen to the people that had gone before you, you know, get a chance. I know you sat down several times with TL, Osborne and others, just sit down and ask some questions and be willing to be humble and just sit there and listen, you know, I think pride to is another thing that takes out a lot of evangelists. You know, you start to get a little bit of success. So success and failure are both things that can crash you, you know, so sometimes you start to get a little success or see, see a few good miracles and you start to think you’re all that and more, but we’re just all still, we’re humble servants of Jesus, you know, seeing that place of humility and obedience and you you’ll run the race and you’ll finish it. Well,
Evangelism Coach Daniel King (14:39):
Let’s talk about what’s happened this week. We are here in Ethiopia, we’ve just finished a great crusade in ambo Ethiopia you partnered with us and, and together we partnered with Joshua campaign here in Ethiopia. And the crusade started with just a few thousand, but by the end we had thousands and thousands of people on the field. What were some of your impressions? What, what, what did you you think about the ministry that happened this week?
Kevin Stark (15:08):
I mean, some some of it’s just that I unit, he always demands a blessing. So with you and, and you know, just Joshua campaigns and I think as we come together, just that just pleases God, and then just having the pastors there and serving them and serving their vision. I mean, I think that’s the one thing that, you know, evangels need to, to work on. And, you know, you might be the one who gets to preach, you know, every event, the whole thing. But I think when you do the unity thing, you know, that brings the glory of God at a new level. And then just the passion of the African people, just like, I think they just get, I think the people in charge in heaven are gonna be Africans. You know, they just, they just love to worship man.
Kevin Stark (15:50):
And so just sit there watching you just enjoy them, jump up and down in the cloud of dust, you know, fill the air. And, you know, you look at ’em, they got dust all over their face and you just see their eyes out of the dust. And, and then all of a sudden, just incredible miracles. You know, one of the things where you preached one night and you just ask, you got on your knees and it’s just a simple message of the gospel and you ask everybody else to get on their knees. So most of the people are in the dirt, you know, on their faces, on their knees, just crying out for salvation. I mean, that just really wrecked me, really touched my heart to see. I mean, there was, I don’t know the exact number, but there was over several thousand people. Everybody kneeling, everybody asking for forgiveness, everybody crying out for God. So so, so good. Such a great three or four days. And even though they lost my luggage and I had one pair of pants and one shirt, I was still praising Jesus, but I got clean clothes on my own luggage. Oh, I’m so happy.
Evangelism Coach Daniel King (16:51):
That is a Acker Fe to only have one pair of underwear for a whole week, but thank God you made it.
Kevin Stark (16:57):
We made it it’s. But anyhow, I just, it’s one of those little things, the honor privilege to be an evangelist. You know, I got, I know I have two circles of my life. It took me a where to a while to get there, but preaching the gospel, being an evangelist and training another people how to do evangelism. So pretty simple. I mean, I have my family, I, my relationship with Jesus, but my calling around those two circles and I try not to go very much outside those two realms. So yeah. What an honor to preach the gospel. Huh.
Evangelism Coach Daniel King (17:26):
Now I know that your, your ministry has recently launched television program where you’re sharing the gospel in, in different places. And, and if someone’s listening, they wanna maybe watch some of the episodes of your television program or find out more about team extreme and more about your ministry. Maybe even support you, help you do crusade preaching
Kevin Stark (17:46):
From the good job.
Evangelism Coach Daniel King (17:48):
How can they find out more about you? What, what’s your website?
Kevin Stark (17:50):
Yeah, it’s said team extreme. I NTL, but it’s T E a M no, E X, T R E M. So T E a M X T R E M a. I ntl.com. That’s our webpage. So you can get all the information there. The TV show is you can go to YouTube and you can go to team extreme or sorry, impact all nations. And you could get, we have about 40 episodes that are on there and you can watch any of them there. So it’s through also through the now TV network. And you can find that information on our on our web page or Facebook page impact all nations. We’ve got a Facebook page that can, and get more information, how to watch the show weekly, it’s a satellite show.
Evangelism Coach Daniel King (18:34):
Let’s finish by talking about what God will do in the future. It seems like God is doing something new in the earth today. What, what type of sense do you have prophetically of what we’re going to see in the area of evangelism and missions over the next few years? Yeah.
Kevin Stark (18:56):
Yeah, I, I’m so excited about it. I just see an army of young evangelists being raised up. And, you know, I think in a lot of people know this, but the season of big name evangelism, I think it’s still air, but there’s no way that the big names can complete the great commission. So I just see an army of hundreds and hundreds of thousands of on fire totally sold out totally in love with God compassionate in all the different spheres of society preaching the gospel. And, you know, and one time I got home quick story from a crusade and we lived in a, in a house. It was sort of on a farm, but behind my house was a, a wheat field and it just happened to be, I got, I got home and I walked in my backyard and it was harvest time.
Kevin Stark (19:46):
So, you know, only takes some of a few hours to harvest the, the wheat behind our house. And the big John Deere green John Deere tractor was just whacking the weed and, and dust was in the air. It’s like that kind of stuff excites me. And so I’m just looking and the guy, I don’t know who he was, but he had the, he stopped his tractor and he looked at me and he sort of waved at me. He said, come on. So I went and jumped in the John Deere tractor and we’re riding. It was very modern. You had a stereo in there and all these, you know, different stuff in there. And the Lord, the Lord just said, me, the great harvest is coming the billion. So harvest is coming. I just hear him so clear. I’m just sitting in this John Deere tractor with this guy with overalls on, and it was one of those divine moments.
Kevin Stark (20:28):
And, you know, that’s what I’m living for. That’s what I’m believing for. We’re a worldwide supernatural revival. You know, my heart is to we’ve had great meetings, great salvations, but I wanna see, you know, a real transformation of nations. Do you see real revivals? And I they’re coming. I believe it there’s so many prophetic words where just people are getting saved. People are walking outta bars and people are getting healed outta prisons, and people are getting saved all over the streets. And it’s just not an event. It’s so huge that it’s touching every corner of a city and every a quarter of a nation. So the great harvest is coming. Hallelujah.
Evangelism Coach Daniel King (21:11):
Amen. Well, Kevin, you’re a good friend. I have such tremendous respect for you. And I’m so thankful for this opportunity to, to work together once more, thank you for being on the evangelism podcast.
Kevin Stark (21:23):
Awesome. It’s been an honor. You’re a great evangelist and a great teacher. Get some of his books. I know you listen to this podcast, but I get a lot of stuff from you. So, and copy some of it, but I change it a little bit. So it’s not, I know, but you’re welcome
Evangelism Coach Daniel King (21:37):
To have
Kevin Stark (21:37):
It. Thank you so much. All right, thanks. Great. Having me bless you, man.

And now here’s your host, missionary and evangelist Daniel King. Welcome
Evangelism Coach Daniel King (00:57):
To the evangelism podcast. I’m here with Sean Smith, the author of the book called prophetic evangelism. Thank you for being with me on the evangelism podcast,
Sean Smith – The Prophetic Evangelist (01:07):
Daniel, it’s great to be with you super excited to unpack this subject. I, I believe it’s very relevant and it is the now time.
Evangelism Coach Daniel King (01:14):
Let’s start by finding out a little bit about yourself, where you from. Tell me about your ministry. What do you do?
Sean Smith – The Prophetic Evangelist (01:20):
I’m from Northern Cal, California. It’s Oakland, San Francisco bay area. And that’s where I was born. And I gave my life to crisis a little north there, but my wife and I we’ve got a ministry, Shawn and Christa Smith ministry. So we travel. We evangelize we’re in other nations, we equip the body of Christ in evangelism. We go after the lost preach, open air write books, we try to just in way we can serve the body of Christ, that’s kind of our hearts.
Evangelism Coach Daniel King (01:45):
And so you wrote this book called prophetic evangelism. It’s the integration of the gift of prophecy and evangelism. Can you unpack that a little bit and tell me what is prophetic evangelism? You
Sean Smith – The Prophetic Evangelist (01:58):
Know, the best way I could describe that Daniel is, is simply this way. When, when gets his friend Nathaniel and brings him to Jesus Nathaniel’s obviously skeptical. So on the Ingels law of recept, this dude is negative. You know, meaning that he is not predisposed, he’s a good Hebrew, but he does not believe that Jesus Messiah. So he says, can Ethan Good come out of Nazare? But upon meeting Jesus, Jesus says behold, a man whom there’s no guile. And then his immediate response is how do you know me? And he says, Hey, I saw you underneath the fi tree. At that point, he confesses him as the Messiah later on, this guy would be martyred for what he believed. But even Jesus says, you believe me because of what I’ve said to you, he says, truly, you’re gonna see angels, us sending and descending upon the son of man.
Sean Smith – The Prophetic Evangelist (02:43):
And he on to say so anyway, his way of moving him from this negative disposition to a positive of confessing Lord is to have a word of knowledge followed by a prophetic word. And in, in that whole process, it led him to encounter. So then here is Nathaniel. He goes from getting anything good. Come out of Nazareth to you are the Messiah. So Jesus modeled this. He modeled it at the well acts chapter nine. This guy Anais, not the Anai and safari that lied and died. But this other guy, he was led to the street called straight led to a specific person, soul of Tarsis and one of the greatest Christians of all time, apostle Paul. So prophetic evangelism. I like to say it’s receiving an audio visual download from heaven, that where you receive the heart of the father, that could be used to bring people into a counter with Christ. So hopefully you’re praying with someone and leading them to the Lord.
Evangelism Coach Daniel King (03:36):
So let’s talk about prophetic evangelism in a, a practical sense. How can people use prophetic evangelism to reach somebody who’s lost?
Sean Smith – The Prophetic Evangelist (03:47):
Well, a lot of people today, there’s a skepticism. So how do I distinguish Christianity from philosophical bins and ideas that sit on the cosmic shelf of what people are believing today? And one of the things that is, I believe that a word of knowledge causes a person to feel known, and everyone is reaching for information we’re reaching towards supernatural. And so I think it would be on our parts, a a, a grievous mistake to not tap into the supernatural. When I’m flowing in prophetic evangelism, the way I’ve seen it is that God first gives you a revelation. So he may give you a word of knowledge. Hey, this person’s back has a problem. Hey, this person grew up without a dad. Hey, this person’s name is I’ve had all of those things happen. And so when that happens, all of a sudden that introduction of supernatural brings the encounter.
Sean Smith – The Prophetic Evangelist (04:35):
So now they’re open, my mentor would say this comment and, and this phrase and principle, and, and I love it. He says, the miracles of God make the demands of God, not seem so unreasonable. So when you’ve encountered a supernatural God through supernatural means a revelation. So word of knowledge is what God revealing something about your past or present that a person would not have acquired that information naturally. So if the Lord told me your name was Daniel, I didn’t know your name was Daniel. That would like, wait, I don’t have a name tag on how would you know that? And so now that leads to an opportunity. There’s an opening. God, God’s got your attention for me to share the gospel. So usually on the front end, there’s a word of knowledge because that’s something that’s it’s proven by the person. And so God says, behold, a man in whom there’s no, God, that’s a current state, then Nathaniel’s in.
Sean Smith – The Prophetic Evangelist (05:23):
But he goes on to say, Hey, you’re gonna see angels ascending. So sometimes words of knowledge will lead towards a prophecy. But, and I don’t know if I’m going too deep on this, but my whole thing is words of knowledge on the front end cause you to become authority of what things will will come to pass later. So I usually try to start with a word of knowledge and then that opens the door and I share with him, Hey, the God that knows your name, the God that just let me know. You have a back condition. We prayed, you got healed. That same, Jesus loves you. He’s pursuing you. He sent me here for you. Now. Here’s what you must do to be saved. So the prophetic simply is kind of that open door to get them to the door who is Jesus, but you still have to repent.
Sean Smith – The Prophetic Evangelist (06:05):
Of course, they still need to know the gospel imperatives. They still need to make a commitment to Christ. So it is a synergistic blending of these two gifts because we live in a date of, of skeptics in the day of people that have been hurt and wounded people that have been hurt by Christianity or what have you. And so this is a way to all of a sudden, I like to say that Peter cut off Malcolm’s ear. That was the Roman came to apprehend Jesus. But the first thing Jesus had to do is pick up that ear and put it back on a lot of zealots in north America and nations, the world, we cut off the ear of people. We’ve cut off the ear of the people of our nation. Prophetic evangelism helps put their ear back on. So now they can hear the message we’re gonna share with them.
Evangelism Coach Daniel King (06:46):
Now I’ve heard you use the term treasure hunt. Can you explain to me what is a treasure hunt and how could a church go on a treasure hunt?
Sean Smith – The Prophetic Evangelist (06:54):
Treasure hunt is simply, I think the, the schematic for it, the blueprint for it is acts nine where God speaks to Anani and says, I want you to go to street called straight. There’s a guy there named Saul. He’s encountered me. He’s a chosen vessel of mine. You’re gonna lay hands on him. So he tells him the street tells him his name tells him where to go all while he’s not in proxy. So Anani is not in Roxy. So he has to go to this street. He has to finds this dude named Saul. He has to enter into a conversation. So God revealed to him in advance where he’s going to go. So that that’s a very specific if you will treasure map, but sometimes, you know, I know youth groups and different groups or, or, or adults have gotten together and they’ll pray beforehand because always feel like great evangelism begin on your face.
Sean Smith – The Prophetic Evangelist (07:39):
You gotta pray. So the Lord may reveal, Hey, you’re gonna meet a person in a blue shirt. Hey, you’re gonna, this happened to my son is he was a college student at UC. Berkeley got up in the morning and he said, the Lord spoke to him. You’re gonna see a guy in a blue shirt today. He’s going to be in sprout Plaza. That’s the student union at UC Berkeley. His mom is in the hot spit and it’s critical, but I’m a healer. And he’s gonna know that I’m real and he’s gonna give his life to Christ. So my son goes out and he, he jokes. He says, it must have been blue shirt. Every guy had a blue shirt and he says, Lord, which one? He said, the moment he said it, it was like the crowd parted. And there was one blue shirt guy by the fountain walks over to the guy.
Sean Smith – The Prophetic Evangelist (08:18):
And he says, Hey you know, I love the Lord. I believe God speaks to me. The Lord showed me that there would be this guy. See, I put it on my iPhone blue shirt and mom in the hospital and a guy gasp. And he says, my mom’s in the hospital, critical condition BR says, we’re gonna pray right now. God’s gonna heal her. And when he heals her, you need to let me know. So he prays three days later, he gets a email exchange emails. The guy’s mom is completely healed. The guy commences his life to Christ and starts coming out to my son Brandon’s Christian group on campus. So that was an example of a treasure hunt. But this is what I, I feel like it’s a good place. When you go out in groups for people that are a little bit more intimidated by walking up to the barista and saying, Hey, your, your, your cell phone number is whatever you live on this street. And when you were three years old, you were violated or whatever. It’s easier to say, okay, I’m looking for a person with a blue shirt, looking for a person as a baseball hat on or whatever. And when you start to see that you enter in a conversation with people, you, the gospel
Evangelism Coach Daniel King (09:15):
Share with me some more testimonies of lives that have been impacted through prophetic evangelism.
Sean Smith – The Prophetic Evangelist (09:22):
I was in Monterey, California. Anybody from Monterey knows that that’s a, a bit of a new age Mecca and a walk past a Ty card, or actually a new age bookstore, but a, a, a gal was doing T cards. She’s reading TYT cards. Now I likely look at it like this. I’m an evangelist. What are the odds? If I walk in and just say, Hey, Jesus loves you. It’s a wonderful plan for your life. For all of sin falls, short of the glory of God. Heaven is awesome. Hell is hot. You need to give your life to Christ. My sense is a woman that has gone that far into divination is gonna blow me off. Anyway, I walk in the store because the Lord tipped me off and says, just you have, you have an appointment there and you go, well, how did that come?
Sean Smith – The Prophetic Evangelist (10:01):
All of a sudden I had this thought that I’m supposed to go in a store. And I’m, I’m, I’m on an assignment from the Lord. And I, I, I tell people often is it, it sounded like a thought and impression, but it, it had the presence of God on it. And years ago, Dave will Orson wrote a newsletter here, hearing the voice of God. He says, God does not speak apart from his presence, felt his presence going to store well, at this point, I don’t have a word of knowledge. I have nothing. I don’t even know who I’m supposed to witness to. So I’m in there and I see the Touro card lady and she says, you, do you want a reading? I said, no, no, no. I just like to have a word with you. She says, well, just wait here for a second.
Sean Smith – The Prophetic Evangelist (10:35):
And I’m gonna finish with this person. I can your word. So to speed this up while I’m waiting on her, the Lord speaks to me and says, I want you to say to her, I am your sign. Number two, when she was young, she had a bad experience with Christianity. She ended up moving in with the Eastern guru that she thought was gonna nurture her. But he said, he ended up abusing her number three, tell her she’s doing this and living her life by default. This wasn’t that the dream and this Z that she had. And I had for her when she was young, tell her if she gives, gets rid of the default, let’s go of the default. I’ll give her her dream back. Well, all this came in a flash like, and, and the word of the Lord often sounds like your thoughts, but we know signs of the mind knows that our thoughts come in by way of what’s called cognitive association.
Sean Smith – The Prophetic Evangelist (11:17):
I think of one thing makes me think of another thing. Makes me think of another thing. When God speaks, it interrupts our thoughts and it, and it’s like there there’s like out of no place as usually the turn people say, I, I say the voice of God is a sudden awareness associated with a unique conviction. When you want to hear the voice of God, you tune in to what came towards you out of no place. Well, that’s not the only checklist, obviously in his land, the word of God, he to end up with the character of Christ because the devil can speak to you and it could be a spontaneous thought. So I’ll go over to the lady. And I first ask her, how do these cards get you in touch with the spirit realm? Well, not that I wanted to find out how it did it, but I know if I saw listening to her, when it comes time for me to talk, hopefully she’ll start listening back.
Sean Smith – The Prophetic Evangelist (11:56):
And I said, well, Hey I believe there’s only two doors to power and one door might as well be marked other, because if you don’t go through a door of relationship with Jesus Christ, all of the doors will close on you. And there’s a bondage and there’s a ultimate, you know, price to pay for that. Well, she’s, she’s blowing me off. Like immediately. You could tell, she’s putting her hand up, like get outta here. I said, well, you know, Lord just gave me something for you. Would it be okay if I share with you? What is in the mind of God for you? And she leans and says yes. And interesting. When I was sharing with her, you know, your door that you’ve taken is wrong. She’s gonna blow me off. But when I tell her, now that God’s spoken to me about her, she leans in.
Sean Smith – The Prophetic Evangelist (12:31):
She says, well, what is it? And I I’m supposed to tell you, I am your sign. She turns her head from me down. You. She begins to weep. Well, what I didn’t know is the night before she cries out to the cosmos and her exact verbiage was show me a sign. Well, I didn’t know. I didn’t even know. Honestly, when I first heard I am your sign, I’m thinking like, Lord, I know is not astrology is I’m like, Sagitarian got going. Like, why would I be telling a strange woman? I am your sign. But all the more I knew it was God, because that’s not how I would think. I would never walk up to a, a woman. I don’t know and say, I am your sign. And so I had her attention because she cried out to a sign for a sign here. I’ll walk up.
Sean Smith – The Prophetic Evangelist (13:08):
That’s exact verbiage. I said, the Lord spoke to me and wanted me to tell you that he is here for you. But because when you were young, you had a bad experience with the church of Christianity. She was nodding her head. And I said, you moved in with the Eastern guru that you was gonna nurture, but ended up abusing her. She starts sobbing. She tells me sure enough, she had a bad experience. Christian Church. When she was young, moved in with the Eastern guru, he abused her sexually, physically, emotionally only thing she got out of the relationship was how to read to RO hard. That’s what she’s doing. And then finally I said, the Lord says, you’re living fault your life by default, not by design. If you surrender this repent of this, he’ll give you back your dreams. She says, oh my God, ever since a little, always wanted to paint, but I never paint as an art, never thought I could pay the bills.
Sean Smith – The Prophetic Evangelist (13:51):
Painting. Are you kidding me? And he loves me like that yet us. And so I said, Hey right now, do you want to give your life to this? Jesus showed up. And she says, yes, I lead her in a sin prayer. Now we’re in a new age, bookstore, Daniel with people lined up to get her, their fortune read by this woman. She put them all on hold. She renounces witchcraft. She repents her sin. She acknowledges Jesus gives her life to Christ. She says, do you know a good church? I can go to. I said, absolutely. I actually with a pastor and his wife. And that’s the reason why I was in there. I was preaching at this church. So she stands up. They’re contracting her out at this new age bookstore. She gets her last check and she says, I will never do this anymore.
Sean Smith – The Prophetic Evangelist (14:32):
She’s announcing to the people. And she walks out when I walk out. And so I’m go, what is the odds of me going into a new age bookstore and walking out with a convert? The only way that happens is Jesus. The only way that happens. And I think people would ask perhaps what is the key to prophetic evangelism? And I found a key that I’ve never heard of anyone else share, not like I’m trying to say, I’ve got this exclusive revelation, but I think it’s, it’s often overlooked. And Jesus said, behold, I send you out a sheep in the midst of wolves. And he says, don’t worry beforehand, what you will say. It’ll be your father in that moment. I will give you what to say. I will bring you in front of magistrates. I’ll bring in front of councils. It be as a testimony to them.
Sean Smith – The Prophetic Evangelist (15:12):
The key to prophetic evangelism is being willing to be a sheep in the, in the midst of wolves. And that’s the wrong end of the food chain for much of us as, as English speaking. And, and for that matter believers all over the nations of the world is that we don’t want to be because what are wolves in this context, I send you out as sheep in the midst of wolves, wolves, metaphorically represent marketplace resistance. It represents a threat. It represents religious spirits that were not like what you would say, but it represents maybe what’s politically incorrect. It’s all kind of areas that you can feel like you’re on the lower end of the food chain. But God promises. If you’ll be sheep in the midst of wolves, you don’t have to worry beforehand what you’ll say. It’ll be your father in that moment who will give you what to say?
Sean Smith – The Prophetic Evangelist (15:56):
So I say, and you’ve, we’ve all heard. It’s evangelists. If you’ll break the chicken line, if you’ll put yourself in position in the marketplace, if you open your mouth and begin to speak, if you’re able to go beyond your point of your comfort zone, there’s a Harvard zone. And is when you put yourself out there, the words of knowledge, for instance, back to my story, I didn’t get the word of knowledge. When I was walking past the new age bookstore, I didn’t get that specific until I got in the store and began to ask. I was just gonna ask her some questions. I didn’t know I was gonna, I was just gonna start asking her questions because I feel like in this, God will begin to speak. So entering a redemptive conversation, just love on people. But if you will focus on loving the person in front of you, the God who says follow the way of love yet eager desire, spiritual against, especially E may prophesy that the prophetic comes on the wings of love. If I can love people. And yet that’s how evangelism starts. It. It’s about receiving the love of the father for that person. So I feel like both anointings are catalyzed through compassion, through love. And so that would be a question. I think a lot of people ask me, how do I start it? And I go, step out. Risk is no such thing as risk free maturity. You gotta step out. And if you’ll step out, gotta meet you.
Evangelism Coach Daniel King (17:11):
That’s awesome. If someone wants to find out out more about your ministry or get a hold of your book on prophetic evangelism, what’s your website. How can they find out more
Sean Smith – The Prophetic Evangelist (17:20):
About you? Our website is www.seanandkristasmith.com. I got several books, but prophetic evangelism. We even have a eCourse to go along with it on our site right now. And obviously Amazon, but the book is out there and it’s brand new. It’s like two, three months old. And we really in this book try to give you nuggets and equip. And my heart is to mobilize an army in the prophetic with the heart of Jesus, that reaps. I believe that we’re gonna see a third grade awakening. I believe it’s underway. I believe they’ll be incredible number of people because like council Zandor and the Morian revival, the lamb is war. They were the, of the rewards of his sufferings. The father is doing this to crown, the sufferings of Jesus. There is going to be a mass harvest. And then John wrote revelation looked up in heaven. He says there was a number multitude. No one could count. Not just him, no one. So between the number of believers now, maybe we’re south of 2 billion, maybe we’re stretching it. I, I I’ve heard lower figures. I believe that in order to get to a number that no one count, we are gonna, billions of people come to Christ billion, soul harvest. That’s who we’re bleeding for.
Evangelism Coach Daniel King (18:32):
Amen. Well, I am all for the billion soul harvest. I know God is raising up an army of evangelists in an army of prophets, an army of young people who are excited about sharing their faith all over the world. And it’s so much a privilege to be a part of that brother. Sean, thank you. Being on the evangelism podcast.
Sean Smith – The Prophetic Evangelist (18:51):
Absolutely love it. Love it. Love it. And all of you that are listening just step out, God is gonna use you Mindy.
Evangelism Coach Daniel King (18:56):
Thanks so much for listening to the evangelism podcast. I am excited about telling people about Jesus and we could not preach the gospel without your help. In fact, I’m asking people to join our partnership program and give at least $1 every single month to help us to lead more people to Jesus. This is the greatest investment of your dollar that you can make. It’s the only investment that’s gonna matter 10,000 years from now. Welcome to the evangelism podcast. I’m Daniel King, and I’m excited about telling people about Jesus today. I’m here with brother Gary Grogan. Thank you so much for being on the evangelism podcast.
Gary Grogan (01:18):
Joy to be here. Thank you so much. God bless you.
Evangelism Coach Daniel King (01:21):
So let’s start at the beginning. How did you first get excited about evangelism?
Gary Grogan (01:27):
Well, when I was a freshman in high school, our home church got a new pastor, 10 years older than me. So he was 24. I was 14 and he taught us how to share our faith, a Romans road, steps of peace with God, four of laws. And you know, I’ve, I’ve noticed that churches don’t do that as much as they used to, you know, evangelism explosion with Dr. James Kennedy of coral Ridge Presbyterian church. Plus the Pentecostal charismatic church was known for teaching its people, personal evangelism, churches had prayer coordinators, evangelism coordinators, and now we have service project coordinators. So it was that pastor that got me excited about sharing my faith.
Evangelism Coach Daniel King (02:13):
And so tell me some of what you’ve done since then.
Gary Grogan (02:18):
Well I’ve been a pastor. I’ve been a youth pastor. I’ve been a statewide and college director. Did the Chicago outreach with David Wilkerson. Some of you have heard the name, David Wilkerson and times square church and way before that, the cross and the switch blade. And then I became a state and college leader, like I said, then I took O what we call in the church world, a burnt Overfield and small group of people and developed it into the third largest church in our tribe in the state of Illinois five years ago, I turned it over to one of my sons in the faith. And so I, I switched my credential from pastor category to evangelist category. And I, I think every pastor should have the heart of an evangelist and every evangelist should have the heart of a pastor. I think everybody should be involved in telling somebody about Jesus.
Gary Grogan (03:14):
That’s a real, you know, Paul told Timothy and he Timothy had trouble with shyness timidity, you know, Paul of all the people in the new Testament that Paul mentored and coached and discipled, he only told Timothy God has not given us the spirit of timid of fear, but of power and love and a sound mine. But he also told Timothy do the work of an evangelist. It was a command, it was an imperative sheep reproduce sheep. So some of my heroes in the faith you know, TL, Osborne, I’ve preached in his churches in democratic Republic of Congo. Amazing pastor Tommy Barnett used to be up in the well, what we call the quad cities in Iowa and, and great work in Phoenix, Arizona. He told me one time, he said, Gary, if you do not go out of your way to be a soul winner, you’ll never be a soul winner. So I’m very passionate about this personal Evangel evangelism, corporate evangelism, creative evangelism power, our invent evangelism, anyway, that we
Evangelism Coach Daniel King (04:23):
Prophetic evangelism miracle Evangel,
Gary Grogan (04:26):
Come on, come on. You’ve written about all that kind of stuff. Anyway, we can reach people for Jesus. That’s what I want to do. That is true. Spirit filled living.
Evangelism Coach Daniel King (04:36):
Now, sometimes when people hear about the evangelist, they think, well, it’s the Evangel job to evangelize, but really the great commission is given to everyone in the whole church by Jesus. Every believer is called to go and preach the gospel. And so how can a normal everyday believer get involved in sharing their faith?
Gary Grogan (05:00):
Well, first of all, they have to learn how to share their faith. I teach the prayer care share approach. So we’ve gotta get our people praying for the lost fellow students, neighbors, my wife and I have a list of all of our neighbors. We’ve met all of our neighbors. We pray for them by name. We share with them and I’ve led some of my neighbors to Christ. That’s the prayer approach, praying for the lost, and then you care for the lost. So we’ve done a million things for our neighbors at the beginning of the pandemic and older neighbor, who’s a retired CIA agent, by the way,
Gary Grogan (05:43):
They were so afraid to go out of their house. They did not go out of their house for it was either five months in one week or six months in one week. I can’t remember. I wish my wife was here to remind me, but so we bought their groceries. We did everything for them. So you’re, you’re caring for your neighbors. You take ’em cookies, you take ’em pies. You, somebody in the family passes away. You go prayer care share approach. But also you have to be taught how to share your faith. This is what changed my life as a 14, 15 year old freshman in secondary school. In high school, I had a pastor that taught me how to share my faith. So I, I want to tell that story, but to answer your question, evangelism is not just for the evangelist are exactly right.
Gary Grogan (06:39):
Sheep reproduce sheep. Otherwise they’re sterile. I’ve never met a board soul winner. I’ve met a lot of board Christians. I said earlier, this is true spirit filled living. I pray in a prayer language that I never learned every day. I love it. I, I love the spirit baptism, but I believe the lifelong evidence to the spirit baptism is a life of soul winning a life of witnessing. That’s not just for the evangelist. The people we work with, we’re supposed to be salt and light. There are a enough Christians in the world that if every Christian would begin to pray for the lost care, for the lost and share with the lost in one week, we could evangelize the 7.8 some say 8.1 billion people on planet earth. We could do that in one week, but it’s the leader’s jobs. The apostles prophets, pastors, teachers, and evangelists, to equip the saints, to pray for the lost care for the lost and share with the lost.
Gary Grogan (07:51):
So you, you can’t fake soul winning. You can fake worship. You can fake devotion. You can fake spirituality. You can fake a lot of things, but you cannot fake true spirit filled living that is spirit filled living, just walking by somebody and not being concerned about their soul. That’s not spirit filled living. I’m not trying to motivate anybody through guilt. I would never do that, but hearing the voice of the spirit many times, I’ve, I’ve done it here, where we are right now, brother king. And I’ve just said, what’s one thing I can pray with you about. I, I just prayed with the manager. We’re actually at a hotel right now. And I prayed with the manager of food services and his name was Gabriel Angel’s name by the way. And he was so appreciative. And so thankful. I said, what’s one thing I can pray with you about. And he told me, and it was just a wonderful experience together. So but my life changed when I led my first soul to Christ. And I’d like to tell you this.
Evangelism Coach Daniel King (08:57):
Yeah. How did you lead your first soul to Christ?
Gary Grogan (09:01):
It’s a miraculous story. This doesn’t happen to everybody. I mean, I’ve had a lot of failures, you know, Jesus was awkward and there was a moment of awkwardness in Jesus’s conversation with the woman at the well in John chapter four. So if Jesus is going to have a moment of awkwardness in his conversation in trying to reach a soul, we are too it’s okay. But we push through it. That’s where the gifts of the spirit came through. Go tell your husband, well, I don’t have a husband. You’re right. In fact, the man you live with is not your husband. And you’ve had five husbands. He had a word of knowledge in that nanosecond. But my point in that story is it’s okay to feel awkward. You know, some people are this far from Christ and you may not win him to Christ, but you may bring, ’em a step closer to Christ. You may bring ’em two steps closer to Christ, or you may be the person that actually gets to reap the harvest of somebody’s prayer of somebody’s seed sewing, and you get to be the one to lead them to Jesus.
Evangelism Coach Daniel King (10:12):
I think having this perspective is, is really valuable and help helps people to avoid the trap of discouragement, because you’re not necessarily the one who’s gonna bring everyone to Christ, but you can bring everyone a little bit closer to Christ and advertisers know that it takes about seven positive contacts with a new product before someone is even willing to try out the product. And so people need at least seven positive contacts with a on fire believer, telling them about Jesus before they might be ready to receive Christ. And so our job as evangelists is to sow seeds. We don’t always reap a harvest, but every single day we can be sowing seeds.
Gary Grogan (10:57):
One of the things I teach it takes seven to 10 contacts for a person to really make a commitment to Christ. It’s very common, fuller, theological seminary has done tons of interviews about this over the decades. And that’s what they say, seven to 10 contacts. So here’s the first person I ever led to Jesus. I can’t remember if I was 14 or 15. It was the summer in between my freshman and sophomore year in high school. And my birthday is July 23rd. So I might have been 14 into my 14th year, beginning of my 15th year, but I was just a kid, a teenager. You don’t have to be a theologian to win somebody to the Lord. Solomon said in Proverbs 1130, he, that wins souls is wise. If you wanna be known for something noble, if you wanna leave a legacy, be a soul winner, lead people to Jesus. Our pastor, as I said earlier in the podcast, if you’re just tuning in taught me as a, as a teenager, how to witness. So we would practice on each other in Sunday school and youth group. And I would be the person witnessing and you would be the person listening. And I would go through the whole thing. And I would say, do you wanna receive Jesus? And you’d say no.
Gary Grogan (12:24):
So I’d have to figure out what to say. And then it’d be your turn to practice on me. And I would say, well, maybe yeah, tell me more. So one Saturday, he took us to a little town in what we call the Midwest here in the United States. And we just thought we were going on a youth trip with the youth group, cuz he used to do that with us. And we loaded into some vans or a bus. I don’t remember exactly. And we went into this little church and they had mapped out the city and they gave us a partner. And so I went with a guy named Steve and the first door I knocked on, I was so nervous. His name is Steve, my name’s Gary. And I said, hi, my name’s Steve. This is my friend, Gary. We started laughing. You forgot your own name.
Gary Grogan (13:17):
I forgot my own name. And the lady slammed the door in our face and I’m like, Hey, I blew that one, man. I’ll do better next time. So the next door we went to, hi my name’s Gary. This is my friend Steve and our approach. Wasn’t very good. And I said, we’re out around the neighborhood talking to people about God. I’d like to talk to you about God. She goes, yeah, come on in. She had us reading out of the new world translation, which in particular, the new Testament is very inaccurate by dishonest so-called Greek scholars. It’s actually the Bible that the Jehovah witnesses use. And she’s in revelation talking about the 144,000. I’m like, I don’t know, maybe you’re right and I’m wrong. I mean, my pastor talked me into coming out here and I was so confused. We went back to that church for a late lunch and some of my friends that I’d gone to youth camp with convention, with revivals rallies, wonderful church services, they had led their first soul to Christ and there was a fire in them that I’d never seen before.
Gary Grogan (14:29):
And Steve and I wanted that and Steve said, let’s fast lunch. Well for a 14, 15 year old, a 13, 14 year old, he was a year younger than me to fast lunch dude. That was a big thing, man. Yeah, but we did Jesus. We wanna win a soul to you. I would encourage you to ask the Lord, Lord help me to be a witness today. I did it this morning in my devotions. And I’ve already been able to share with somebody here, even though I’m at a Christian conference, help me to witness to somebody. Lord help me to thank
Evangelism Coach Daniel King (15:04):
God. There’s at least one Christian here. That’s willing to witness to other people.
Gary Grogan (15:08):
Well, hallelujah. So you know, you pray, pray, prayer care share approach. So we skipped lunch. We prayed, we fasted, we went to a little trailer court in this little town of Rushville, Illinois, right by the Illinois river in the Midwestern part of the United States. And we’re knocking on trail our doors. It was my turn to talk. This is a true story. Knocked on the door. I said, hi, my name’s Gary. This is my friend, Steve. We are out around the neighborhood talking to people about God. We’d like to talk to you. The guy that answered the door, he goes just a minute. And he came back with a revolver, a pistol, a gun. He said, sit down here on the front step boys. It was warm time of the year. I don’t, it was summer. And I’m like coming home, coming home, never or more to Rome.
Gary Grogan (16:15):
I wasn’t really too worried because the cylinder was not in the pistol. But then he pulled the cylinder out of his pocket and he put it in the gun. And he said, boys, see that mirror in there on the wall said, yes, sir. He said, I’ve been standing in front of that mirror for 30, 45 minutes. I don’t know how long our child died. In what we used to call crib death. My wife couldn’t handle it. Had a nervous breakdown. She’s in a psych ward, in a nearby hospital, in a larger city. The transmission fell out of my car. I haven’t been able to get to work. I’ve lost my job. They’re going to reap the bank’s going to reposess my trailer that I live in, my relatives have helped me all that they can help me. And I’ve been standing in front of that mirror, boys. I don’t know, 30, 45 minutes with that gun up to my head, ready to take my life. And I said seconds before you knocked on the door. God, if there is a God, send somebody here to talk to me about you
Evangelism Coach Daniel King (17:25):
And you knocked on the door. 14, 15 years old teenager sent by God to help rescue this man.
Gary Grogan (17:33):
Hi, my name Gary. This is my friend, Steve we’re out around the neighborhood talking to people about God. We’d like to talk. The very thing that he had just prayed brother king. The very thing that he had just prayed. I said, gimme the gun. And I used my little new Testament and I let him through what we call the Romans road. All of Sinon come short of the glory of God. But the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ. Our Lord, to as many as received him, he gives the power, the authority, the he to become the sons of God. I led him in the longest what we call sinners, prayer and history. I mean, I was so excited that I was leading somebody to Jesus. I had him make all kind of commitments to the Lord in his prayer. He didn’t even know what I was talking about, but he knew that God had heard his prayer, that Anne served the Lord in a church in Rushville, Illinois, for years and years and years.
Gary Grogan (18:34):
And every Christmas I would get a card from him. He’s gone on home to be with the Lord. Now that experience changed my life. And I knew from that point to this, it didn’t matter what I did in life. I wanted be a soul winner. I wanted to introduce people to the person and work of Jesus Christ. That’s what evangelism, that’s what soul winning. That’s what witnessing is all about. Now. The evangelist is part of the fivefold ministry, Ascension gifts of Christ in Ephesians chapter four and a true evangelist missionary evangelist. Like this one knows how to equip us, equip the body of Christ. If you go to his website, you can look at all of his materials that he’s prepared as an equipping evangelist to teach you. And I how to share our faith in Jesus prayer care share approach. So I, I don’t want to be critical of any part of the body of Christ.
Gary Grogan (19:38):
I love the body of Christ. I preach in every kind of church you can imagine. I used to do teens encounter Christ tech rallies for the Catholic church, way back in CA at charismatic renewal days, I’ve done holy spirit things for the Methodist church all over the Midwest and had some wonderful experiences was in a Methodist church, not too long ago, about 40 people got holy spirit baptized. It was awesome. Prayer meeting at the end of the service was just amazing. Mainly young people responding, but evangelicalism we’re part of the charismatic Pentecostal part of evangelicalism. They have taught the gift of evangelism. I just don’t see it in scripture. I see the gift of an evangelist and Ascension gift of Christ. I believe every healthy sheep reproduces sheep. So yes, there are some people that are perhaps more gregarious in their personality, a type, a personality. If you’re into the Igram, some of you know what I’m talking about, a type eight, but I just don’t see the gift of evangelism. That’s what the evangelical church teaches. They literally teach people only 5% of a church has the gift of evangelism,
Evangelism Coach Daniel King (21:04):
Which is sad because if only 5% are actively doing evangelism, the church is not growing very fast. We need everyone in the church out there telling people about Jesus, even if they might be introverted in their nature.
Gary Grogan (21:20):
Yes. You know, God uses introverts. I mean, there’s a lot of books out on that. Now. Some of the most successful pastors I know would be introverted in their personality. I think it’s sinful to use our personality types to hide behind. If we’re an extreme extrovert type, a personality, I don’t believe that gives you an excuse to be obnoxious and rude and plow over people, run over people. If you’re an extreme introvert, I don’t believe that gives you an excuse to hide behind your personality, to not engage with people. The holy spirit leads us, guides us direct us. The father sent the son, the son sent the spirit. This is the responsibility of the holy spirit to lead guide, teach and direct to, to transform, to make the love of the father, the heart of the father, real the forgiveness of the son, real and to help us do what we cannot do in our own strength.
Gary Grogan (22:21):
It’s we call it the anointing, you know Hebrews one eight, the, the Lord anointed Jesus with the oil of gladness. I love the king James here above all of his fellows because he loved righteousness and hated iniquity. That’s the secret to the anointing. We love righteousness. We want to live for the Lord. We want to win souls and we hate iniquity. We don’t want to go way of the flesh. We want to go the way of the spirit, which is soul winning. So anyhow, his arms getting tired. You know, I love what you’re doing. I love the fact that you have a heart for missions. You have a heart for evangelism. You are called to be an evangelist. One of the fivefold. I think every evangelist needs to have the understanding of a pastor and every pastor needs to have the understanding of an evangelist and we need to work together. So let’s get people to come to Jesus. That’s what I say. And you can do it. You can do it. It doesn’t matter. Your personality temperament type. The first evangelist in the new Testament was not Philip. It was the woman at the, the, well in John chapter four Jesus through personal evangelism and a word of knowledge, a gift to the holy spirit won her. And she went back and said, Hey, come and see this man that he told me everything I’ve ever done.
Evangelism Coach Daniel King (23:54):
And the whole village came, the
Gary Grogan (23:56):
Whole village came. So I, I mean, some of the most awesome soul winners, I know are contemplative, quiet thinking people. So anyhow, I don’t know if your, your viewers send you emails and stuff like that, but if they wanted to contact me, they could do that.
Evangelism Coach Daniel King (24:16):
What would be a good way to get in touch with you? If someone wanted to learn more about evangelism,
Gary Grogan (24:22):
My Facebook page is full, but you can to my public Facebook page, Gary Grogan, G a R Y G R O G a N. Or you can go to my Twitter at Papa Grogan, or you can go to my Instagram, Papa underscore Grogan, G R O G a N, my primary gifting, spiritual fathering. It’s my job to come alongside the younger generation and encourage you to fulfill what God’s called you to do. So my passion is the emergent up and coming, developing generation of local church workers and min. That’s what I’m giving the last third, third of my life to, to set alongside you and encourage you. That’s it? I don’t need anymore opportunities, but the next generation I can open up doors of opportunities for them. That’s my primary calling. That’s what I love doing. Paul said you have many teachers, but few fathers. So that’s probably the easiest way initially to get in touch with me. And then of course they can find me on messenger and send me a message. And usually I get back to people within 24 hours. You know, if I’m in a conference like this, you get pretty busy. And we’re actually in Jacksonville, Florida in the Southeastern part of the United States. And it’s a winter time in the Midwest. So I’m really happy to be here. That’s why I’m wearing this wild shirt, cuz I can’t wear it right now in the Midwest.
Evangelism Coach Daniel King (26:02):
Well, I’ve heard several people call you Papaji, Papa, Gary. And so thank for mentoring and fathering young ministers in the faith that’s so needed and so valuable. And thank you Papaji for being on the evangelism podcast.
Gary Grogan (26:19):
Thank you so much. I never gave myself that nickname. You guys did. Your generation gave me that and I, I really love it. It really, I wouldn’t be where I am today. If it wasn’t for generations who had gone before me, that invested in my life. And now it’s my turn. So you, you know, I’d say if you’re my age, if you’re a baby boomer, okay, I’m all for retirement, but you can’t just sit on the beach forever. You, you, you can’t just fish every day. You have lots of wisdom, lots of experience. And especially these gen Zers, they want to hear from you, but let’s not throw the millennials under the bus. Either. God is not done with any generation. He still calls people every generation to serve him and to be a witness. And so that’s, you know what I’m all about?
Evangelism Coach Daniel King (27:11):
Well, thank you,
Gary Grogan (27:13):
God bless you.
Evangelism Coach Daniel King (27:15):

Evangelism Coach Daniel King (00:55):
Welcome to the evangelism podcast. I’m Daniel King, and I’m excited to tell people about Jesus today. I’m here with a special guest Joel Crumpton. Great evangelist. Thank you for being with me today. It’s gonna be with you. Well, tell me a little bit about you and your ministry and what you do
Evangelist Joel Crumpton (01:13):
Well, I’ve I’ve been in ministry for many years. I, one of the things I do that I, I guess most people know me for is I carry a big 10 foot cross. I’ll go to different cities. I’ve been across America a few times. I, I, I did several major cities where I carried the cross and people come out and ask me, why are you doing this? And then I can minister to them on the street. And we see a lot of people saved, healed baptized in the holy spirit, right out in public, on the street. I’ve also been in other countries doing it. I have a cross that they built for me in the Netherlands have another one in the Philippines, another one a couple of them in Africa, different countries in Africa.
Evangelism Coach Daniel King (01:51):
And so as you carry this 10 foot tall cross, what response do you get from people? What are they saying to you? The,
Evangelist Joel Crumpton (02:00):
The, the biggest response and the most common response is people say, why are you doing this? And my response to that question is I came out here to find you, God sent me out here to find you and many times I know that if an unsafe person comes up and asks me, why are you doing this? They’re wanting me to talk to ’em about Jesus, because they, they’re not, they’re not gonna be surprised if I bring up heaven or hell or God or G use this because I’m carrying a 10 foot cross for crying out loud. So they’re asking, so
Evangelism Coach Daniel King (02:27):
It’s a conversation opener.
Evangelist Joel Crumpton (02:29):
It is. And it separates, you know, the hardest thing for Christians is and when it comes to evangelism is finding someone to talk to, who’s willing to listen. If you’ve got a 10 foot cross and someone approaches you, they’re asking you to talk to ’em. So it, it narrows it down tremendously. It’s like, I mean, you’ll see most, if I go down by busy street, for instance, in Atlanta and people see me coming, the ones that don’t wanna hear what I have to say, they’ll, they’re like the parting of the red sea. They’ll just kind of move away. And then the, the few people that do want to talk to me will, will come up to me and ask me why I’m doing it. So it’s the perfect, it’s the perfect opportunity for me to talk to somebody who wants to hear what I have to share
Evangelism Coach Daniel King (03:10):
And share with me some of the testimonies. What response have you received from people?
Evangelist Joel Crumpton (03:16):
Well, there’s been so many, I’ve been doing this since the mid nineties. And so there’s a lot of interesting stories. I mean, I can tell you stories of people approaching me. Like for instance, during the pandemic, you know, everybody was, most Christians were at home hiding into the bed, afraid, afraid they might get something. If they went out in public. And I, I, I was just, it was driving me nuts. I thought I can’t in the house. People are going shopping. And that means they’re driving and they’re going shopping where there’s Walmarts. And I always say, you know, joking, Walmart is the saving place.
Evangelism Coach Daniel King (03:49):
Walmart is the saving
Evangelist Joel Crumpton (03:51):
Place. Walmart’s the saving place. I’m gonna go near Walmart. So
Evangelism Coach Daniel King (03:54):
You have an opportunity to go to Walmart and tell people about Jesus and save it for their sins and maybe save a few cents when you buy a thing of cereal at the
Evangelist Joel Crumpton (04:02):
Same time. Right? Right. So I’m walking past Walmart. And I had gone down maybe a mile past Walmart, on marketplace Boulevard in the city where I lived at the time. And we just moved since then. But a car pulls over and, and a it’s a man and his son and son, he says, Hey man, why are you carrying this cross? And I said, I came out here to find you. He said what? I said, yes. And then I got a word of knowledge. I said, which one of you guys has back pain? He said, we both do. How did you know that? I said, I don’t know anything about you, but God knows everything. I said, I’ve got good news for you. The kingdom of heaven has come near as today. I said, if you’ll just get outta the car and let my sh cause you know, they were, everybody was concerned about the social distancing thing.
Evangelist Joel Crumpton (04:48):
I said, if you guys will just get outta the car and I don’t have to touch you anything, just get in the shadow of me and the cross. And God’s power will heal both of you right now. So the guy said, well, my sons is worse. I’ll let him go first. So I said, just get over to move over to your right a little bit. And, and so that the shadow of me and the cross falls on you and Jesus will completely hear your back. So he, he gets in the shadow. He looks at his dad and says, dad, I feel heat going through my back right now. He said, I feel the pain going, dad, I’m serious. He said, I said, is there any pain? I said, do something you couldn’t do without pain. And he starts bending and twisting. He says, I don’t feel any pain. He said, probably if I picked something up, I would feel pain. I said, pick my cross up. And it’s a 10 foot wooden cross. So he picks up my cross and he says, I don’t feel anything. I said, you just got held. His dad saw that and jumped in front of the cross and was instantly heal. I didn’t even pray for him.
Evangelist Joel Crumpton (05:41):
Jesus just heal them.
Evangelism Coach Daniel King (05:42):
What a great miracle. Tell me some of the other testimonies that you experienced.
Evangelist Joel Crumpton (05:48):
Well, I mean, I have, I’ve had a lot of people during the pandemic pull over and ask me and, and very similar to, to the one I just mentioned to you about the man and his son. Son’s another one that did that. But sometimes I’ll be carrying the cross and God will just set up a divine appointment. In other ways, for instance, one time I was on I think it was Barrett Parkway in north of Atlanta, which is an interesting name of a street where you’re gonna be carrying a cross Barrett Parkway. I dunno if you called that Barrett.
Evangelism Coach Daniel King (06:18):
Okay. Barrett Parkway. And you’re bearing the cross.
Evangelist Joel Crumpton (06:20):
I’m bearing the cross. So somebody asked me why, why did you go on Barrett Parkway? I said, until you asked me, I never thought about it. Anyway, I’m walking down Barrett Parkway and I’m passing by a restaurant. I think it was Chili’s. I’m not sure. I don’t remember, but as I’m passing it, I look and I see, and there’s a, I’m a sidewalk way up at, up a bank from the restaurant parking lot to the main street there, Barrett Parkway. And as I look to my right, it’s about it’s right at dinnertime. So sun hasn’t quite gone down yet, but there’s a lot of people waiting for a table sitting outside on the, in, in the, this little area, outside the restaurant. So I looked down there and the holy spirit speaks to me and says, stop and stand the cross up. So I thought, okay.
Evangelist Joel Crumpton (07:02):
So I stopped, stopped and stood the cross up. And then he says, preach to these people. And I said, Lord, they can’t hear me from here. And he said, ask ’em. I said, excuse me, folks, can you guys hear me down there? And they all, they all, noded their head. And I said, oh no, they can hear me. I thought Lord, I don’t have a message. He said, just open your mouth wide and I’ll fill it. So I thought, well, I just thought of a scripture. I thought, well, the Bible, I said, ladies and gentlemen, get, let me get your attention for just a minute. I said, the Bible says that the message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing. But to us who are saved, it’s the power of God, which one is it to you? And I began to preach as I’m preaching.
Evangelist Joel Crumpton (07:43):
The holy spirit speaks to me again, says, give an alter call. And I thought, Lord, how am I gonna give an alter call? I’m on the sidewalk. Way up here on top of a bank. And they’re down there across the parking lot for me. How am I gonna do that? He said, call ’em to come up to the base of the bank, to the bottom of that, of this bank down here at the edge of the, so I did, I gave an ultra call, nobody responded. And I said, Lord, nobody responded. He said, bind the devil out loud and watch what happens. I said, Lord, they don’t wanna think I’m crazy. If I do that, he said, they already think you’re crazy. Just go ahead and do it. Just obey me and do it. So I, about that time, a whole table full of people, a big family was called in their table was ready.
Evangelist Joel Crumpton (08:22):
So they went inside and, and, and after they got inside, I, I took a, I said, folks, I’m gonna bond the devil. And when I do, you’re gonna have a split second to get out, to get up and come up here and show God you’re not ashamed to follow his son. Jesus. So when I did that, I bound the devil in Jesus name and the front door burst saw open. And a young man comes almost sprinting out to the edge of the, of the bank where I was at the, on the sidewalk, points up at me and said, sir, if you’ll come in here and let me buy your dinner, I won’t drink anything else. I pointed back at him. And I said, sir, if you’ll come up here on the sidewalk and knee down with me and surrender your life into Jesus right now in front of all these people, you’ll never drink anything else that that’s alcoholic.
Evangelist Joel Crumpton (09:05):
And he paced and he was waring. You know, the holy spirit was working him. The devil was working on him. And finally he climbed the bang and got down on his knees and surrendered his life to Jesus. So he said, come on in and I’ll buy your dinner. I said, well, first I gotta put this cross back in my truck. So he followed me to the truck. We went back and went inside the, the restaurant. And he told me what his experience was, why he came out like that. He said, I’m listening to you preach. And it was like, you were talking directly to me. He said, when you said, man, some of you, your hearts just pounding in your chest. He said, my heart was pounding in my chest. He said, when you said some of you feel strange, you feel something drawn on you.
Evangelist Joel Crumpton (09:42):
He said, I felt strange. And I felt something tugging on me. He said when you said you got a split second to come out here in front of all these people. He said, I’m, I’m inside the restaurant with my family. And I couldn’t stay in my seat. He said, I kept up getting up and pacing. And he said, my girlfriend and my kids were at the table and my, and my wife’s parents or my girlfriend’s parents. He said, my girlfriend looked at me and said, why you what’s wrong with you? He said, I’ve gotta go back out there. And she said, well, do whatever you think you have to do. And that was when he came bursting through the door and, and came walking up. Yeah. So that was just one of him. He, he got saved. I’ve seen many people get saved.
Evangelist Joel Crumpton (10:21):
One time. I’m carrying the cross down the street from there. And I, I noticed, as I turned around to come back, I’d gone about maybe two miles turned around to come back. I noticed a woman and her son were walking up a side street and they were gonna arrive at the corner. I was headed toward the same time that I was. So I saw them coming. I thought, man, we’re gonna get there at the same moment. And I just said out loud, this is interesting timing. And they both look shocked that when I said that and the woman says, what did you call him? And I looked at him and I knew what she thought. I said, I said, your name is Tommy. Isn’t it? And they freaked out. How did you know his name was Tommy? And I said, I didn’t, but God did she thought, I said, this is interesting Tommy. But I said, this match my Southern accent. I said, this is interesting timing. I said, God knows everything about you, Tommy. And he knows about you too, mommy. I said, this is your son. She goes, yes. And they just hung on every word. I said, both of ’em prayed with me, rented their life to Jesus right there in the corner.
Evangelism Coach Daniel King (11:20):
How did you get started as an evangelist? How did this passion for evangelism develop in you?
Evangelist Joel Crumpton (11:26):
Well, when I first got born again, I was, I was partying, you know, before I got saved and I was in a rock band and I was I was just a crazy person. And when I got saved in my office by myself, nobody was preaching to me. I gave my life to Jesus. The moment I got saved, I thought everybody needs to know what I just learned because I didn’t know. You know, I, I guess about two weeks after I got saved, I realized I don’t have any desire for, for the stuff I used to do. I thought that if I ever got saved, I would be miserable wanting to do the stuff. I enjoyed sinful things. And I thought it would be miserable wanting to do it and not be able to do it or what I got saved. I thought, man, I don’t even want it anymore.
Evangelist Joel Crumpton (12:06):
Everybody needs to know this. So that’s what got me started doing Evangel. I didn’t know what I was doing at first. It took me what, how to finally learn how to do it correctly. So now what I do is I, I equip people on how to bring souls into the kingdom, through miracle evangelism, not just words, but per not just persuasive words of human wisdom as, as the apostle Paul said, but through the demonstration of the spirit and of power. So people, when they see miracles, they go, this is real. This is what I want. I want
Evangelism Coach Daniel King (12:34):
This. So your focus is on miracle evangelism. What are some of the miracles that you’ve seen God do? Wow,
Evangelist Joel Crumpton (12:40):
Well, I’ve, I’ve seen I’ve, I’ve lost count of, of the miracles in the last, you know, for the first 25 years before I got a revelation on healing, I had prayed for sick people and I’d maybe seen 20 to 25. People get healed in 25 years. Not you, maybe one a year. On average, after I got a revelation about 18 years ago now it’s it’s been almost 19 years ago of this month. I saw more people healed when I first got this revelation 18 years ago than I had seen. I, I saw more people healed than one month than I’ve seen in 25 years. And it it’s. I wrote a book about it. It’s called you can do the works of Jesus.
Evangelism Coach Daniel King (13:16):
You can do the works of Jesus. You
Evangelist Joel Crumpton (13:18):
Can do the works of Jesus and people are reading it of all ages. I’m talking children up to grandpas and grandmas are reading the book, putting it into practice. And they’re seeing the same miracles that I see the same miracles that Jesus did because Jesus said that in mark or in John chapter 14 verse 12, he said, barely, barely I say to you, he, that believes on me will do the same works that I do. And greater works than these shall he do because I go to my father. So one time I wasn’t carrying the cross at the time, but I was at a men’s gr gathering and a young man who wasn’t saved was in a drug treatment program in this church where having the men’s gathering well, he wandered in while we were having the gatherings about midnight. It was on new year’s Eve, actually new year’s morning, very early about one o’clock in the morning.
Evangelist Joel Crumpton (14:04):
So he’s standing over there with dark sunglasses on, at one o’clock in the morning. I thought, what’s he doing with some dark sunglasses on? Well, the gentleman that invited me there addressed him, his name was Brandon said, Brandon, how you doing on your drinking? He said, I haven’t had anything to drink all week. And my friend Wade, who was asking him about it said, I know you’re not telling the truth, but we’re not going to, we don’t want to condemn you. We wanna pray for you. We’ve been here all weekend praying. So he said, Joel, he turned to me and he said, Joel, I know you wanna leave. And I did. I was already dressed to go. He said, I know you you’re ready to, to go, but can you help us pray for this guy first? I thought, sure. I’ll help you.
Evangelist Joel Crumpton (14:40):
So we began to pray and the Lord showed me something about him that he needed me to pray about specifically. So I asked my friend about it and he said, nobody’s ever prayed for him for that. I don’t think I said, can I pray for him? He said, sure. So he got his attention. He was already on his, on his knees. He said, it’s okay if brother Joel prays for you about something, he said, sure, that’s fine. So I said, just outta reverence, you still had his dark sunglasses on me. I said, you mind taking your sunglasses off outta reverence to God? He said, I don’t mind. So he takes his sunglasses off and his eyes lynched tightly shut. I said, what’s wrong with your eyes? He said, I’m blind. I said, I didn’t know you were blind. Cause that’s why you were wearing the glasses.
Evangelist Joel Crumpton (15:18):
He said, yeah, I was, I was in a chemical explosion four years ago in a closed trailer with ammonium chloride exploded right in front of my face and burned four layers off of my eyeballs, bleached all the color outta my eye eyes. I ruin my tear ducts. So my eyes don’t make tears. And I can’t see. And before I could stop myself, I said, well, I’ve got good news for you. The kingdom of heaven has come to this. We were in a big gymnasium where we were, I said, the kingdom of heaven has come to this gymnasium. I said, if you’ll let me put my hands on your eyes, Jesus will completely heal your eyes. And you’ll be able to see again right now when I said that, I thought, what, what did I just say? I wanted to grab those words and put ’em back in my mouth.
Evangelist Joel Crumpton (15:58):
I thought, oh no, I can’t believe I said that. And of course, everybody in the room was freaking out going, what did he say? He’s the guy that needed a healing said, well, I hope so. I said, just let me touch your eyes and you gonna have to hope so. So he said, okay, so I’ll just try it. I put my hands on his eyes. And I said in the name of the Lord, Jesus Christ be healed. Eyes, be open vision, be restored. Thank you Lord for handing this man’s eyes. And I’m shaking. My hands are shaking. Not because I was anointed, but cause I was nervous. I was scared. I thought, what? If nothing happens, I’ll be embarrassed. But see, I’d learn something. Fear is of feeling, but it can’t cancel faith because faith is an act. If you act in faith, whether you’re afraid or not, God will honor and he’ll watch over his word and perform it.
Evangelist Joel Crumpton (16:41):
If you tell him what’s gonna happen before you minister to him, that’s what I did. So I put my hand, I took my hands off his eyes. I said, now open your eyes. He opens his eyes and clenched him right back shirt. And he said, ah, I can’t, it’s two pain from my eyes are very sensitive to light. I said, man, you’ve been like in a dark room for four years. You gotta let your eyes adjust to the light. Give, give it some time. So he keeps trying to open his eyes and sure enough, he gets ’em halfway open and you see these black, these Milky looking gray eyeballs. I mean, no, no colors, a black guy. So as he had no color in his eyes at all, he said he was looking around. He goes, I can see a little bit. I can actually see a little bit.
Evangelist Joel Crumpton (17:17):
My wife’s gonna freak out. I said, Hey, there was a guy in the Bible that Jesus prayed for who was born blind. And, and he could see men that looked like trees walking around. Now, I don’t know about you, but I wouldn’t want somebody driving a car. And that I was in. If everybody looked like trees walking around, I would want to see than that. So Jesus, didn’t just say, man, that was the best I could do. Jesus prayed for him again. Laid hands on him a second time. And he could, then he could see clearly. I said, if it’s okay for Jesus to do that twice then before the person got completely healed, it’s okay for us too. He said, okay, do it again. Now I got this crowd of guys around me. It wasn’t a big crowd. It was maybe eight or 10 people, but they’re like freaking out and I’m, I’m starting to get excited cause I’d never seen a blind man heal.
Evangelist Joel Crumpton (18:01):
So I put my hands on his eyes again. Did it again. I said, now open your eyes. He opens his eyes and he starts screaming. I can see, I can see I almost fainted. I was actually looking for that. And I’m I turned my back to him cause I’m just, I was overwhelmed and I lifted my hands and began to praise God. And my friend that knew this guy, he’s bent over, looking right into his eyes. And I hear my friend behind me. That’s looking into his eyes scream. Yeah. I turn around to see why, what he was screaming about. And he’s leaping backwards because he saw something. He grabbed me by the shoulders and looking with intensity. He says to me, Joel, I just saw a miracle. I just watched the color, come back into the guy’s eyes right in front of me.
Evangelism Coach Daniel King (18:42):
Wow. It
Evangelist Joel Crumpton (18:43):
Like crazy. Well, I was already peeked out in excitements, you know, just praising God. So I had to do something. I had to react. Cause that was like shocking. I just started running. I didn’t even know where I was going. And my friend that, that saw the miracle, he passed me. He was excited as I was the guy that was healed, ran home and, and it miracles just started popping like popcorn. Another guy got killed of a tumor on the back of his knee. It disappeared. Another man got killed of chronic, upper respiratory infection was slammed against the wall by the power of God and healed, stuck to the wall. Pastor. Another guy was healed of chronic what is it? Acid reflux. And he was instantly healed. I mean, miracles just started popping and they, they had that people kept getting healed and having experiences with God the rest of the evening. It was powerful.
Evangelism Coach Daniel King (19:32):
That’s amazing. What a miracle ministry. Well, if someone wants to find out more information about your ministry, what is your website?
Evangelist Joel Crumpton (19:38):
The website is the B o.com. It’s T H E B P O m.com. And there’s, I’ve got a connection to Facebook PA my Facebook page where I’m always posting testimonies and you can get my book. You can do the works for Jesus on the, on the website as well. And some other there’s articles and videos. There’s some YouTube videos on there that are equipping videos or very short, maybe 30 minutes or less that people can watch and get equipped to, to walk in miracles and people can even be healed watching the videos or receive the baptism in the holy spirit. It
Evangelism Coach Daniel King (20:12):
That’s awesome. Well thank you for being on the evangelism podcast, brother. Joel,

Evangelism Coach Daniel King (00:52):
Welcome to the evangelism podcast. I’m Daniel King, and I’m excited about telling people about Jesus today. I have a very special guest, Travis Holownia, my good friend from the Edmonton Canada area. So thank you so much for being on the podcast.
Travis Holownia (01:07):
Yeah. Good to be here, Daniel, appreciate getting to know you the last few years and excited to just be with you all today.
Evangelism Coach Daniel King (01:13):
So let’s talk about Canada. What is God doing in the nation of Canada right now?
Travis Holownia (01:19):
God is moving, you know I think like so many nations, this has not been an easy time. There’s been lockdowns and lots of this unity. I think, you know, we were seeing such unity and the enemy has used COVID to bring this unity, but I, I think God is at work. He is moving. There is redemption happening. People are finding G Jesus submits this, and I think it’s a reshuffling of priorities. And I believe that Canada will be saved that there is a great mission field. And it’s from the far north to the Arctic, from east to the west, to the south. And I’m excited what God is doing. It’s easy to look at what God, the tough stuff. I think we can all look at the tough stuff, but there’s also some really good stories that would go is doing.
Evangelism Coach Daniel King (02:04):
So the name of your ministry is resurgence. Yeah. Tell me what is resurgence and how did you get started doing this?
Travis Holownia (02:13):
Yeah, so, you know, God just birthed this. The name means a rising again, renewal restoration revival that rising and, you know, in 2008 I was stirred. I was back up a little bit. I was an engineer working for an oil company and I, and I felt God’s voice. I didn’t know if it was God, if it was the pizza eight the night before, if it was the devil, you know, sometimes it’s hard to know what God’s voice sounds like. And I felt his voice saying to quit my job and go full-time in ministry. And so I did that handed in the company, truck, handed that all in, I, I went and served. They say, you know, when you don’t know what God’s doing, go serve someone else’s dream. And so I served a guy’s dream to do the largest youth conference in our nation.
Travis Holownia (02:53):
16,000 kids a year were gathering. I think a YC did that for eight years. We did them internationally. And during that season, God birthed this idea. I was reading books, a revival books of how Charles Price came to my city in 1923. And people were so hungry for God that they would break the window just to get in. And I thought, man, that’s not my city, young adults are leaving the church. The churches are, are dying. People are falling away from God. My friends aren’t having an encounter with holy spirit. They’re, they’re going to church, but they’re not really connecting with that personal encounter. And so I said, what, what could we do something? And I felt, God birthed this name, resurgence never heard of it before. It was just this. Like, what do we call it? And this worder I’m like, what does that mean?
Travis Holownia (03:36):
I had to look it up. And so we gathered, we had three nights of meetings and we said, expect miracles, experience revival expect freedom. And people came, this lady came, she got healed. Leukemia people came. And we, so we did three nights. Again, we weren’t starting a ministry. We were just, it was like a side thing. It was like, Hey, what can we do? Because I believe God wants to move. And we rented this theater. And we did that. And then we start moving it from church to church. And that’s where we saw such momentum and unity with so many denominations Baptist Alliance, Anglican, all these even non charismatic Pentecostal denominations saying, Hey, we’re hungry for more. We want to have an authentic counter. And from that, we started to raise up people to reach souls reach people for Jesus, to, to release leaders.
Travis Holownia (04:22):
And how do we revive the church? We’re not a church. So how do we raise the water level up of many churches to see more people win one for Jesus. And so that’s, that’s the heart of it. And you know, my story actually started years ago and, and I, and I speak to evangelists that are listening today. You never know the, the seeds plant and in 1930, my grandparents immigrated to Canada from Poland. They were new of God, but they didn’t have a personal relationship. They ended up in a small town in Alberta, in Canada, they were farming. They had to pick all the rocks off the land and clear the trees and then they would get the land for free and so hard working sick kids. My grandmother got really ill at age of 40 was sent on a train to Edmonton, was going to die.
Travis Holownia (05:07):
The priest was called for the last rights and said that, you know, it’s over. And my grandfather was outside one day and a neighbor said, you know, there’s an evangelist at the Pentecostal church and he’s praying for people. You should go. My grandfather goes, well, my, my wife can’t go too sick. Well, you go. So he went and the guy prayed for my grandmother. And when he got home, my grandmother was sitting up in her bed, brushing her daughter’s hair, completely healed. And that’s at 40 years old, she lived till she was 97 and died of old age, not of any sickness and because of that, the whole family came to Jesus. And so that’s why I’m here today. Cuz an evangelist came to a small town and that’s why I do what I do because you know, there’s people that have not heard the name of Jesus that need a miracle that need a touch like, like my grandmother that can impact generations.
Evangelism Coach Daniel King (05:55):
Let’s talk about the future. What is your vision for revival in the nation of Canada? I, my wife, Jessica is from Canada. She lived in Morville small city, right outside of Edmonton. And so every summer we go up to Canada and I preach in different church is across Canada. And, and I know there’s so many believers in Canada that are crying out to God for revival that are, that have a hunger and a desire to, to see more of God. And, and when you watch the news, you, you say, yes God is needed in the nation of Canada. What, what do you think will happen in the future? What does God want to do? Bringing revival to Canada?
Travis Holownia (06:39):
I do think unity is key. I think when we have unity, God will give us survival. I think there’s a key of us working together. I think denominational borders and lines and all of that as we’re being in one church is coming together in an incredible way. I believe prayer is rising in our nation in this season of hard. It, that there is such a prayer movement. And I also believe that Canada has such a call. There’s been so many prophetic words that Canada will be healing leaves to the nations. There’s a call for the nations. And I feel like if, if I, as a leader, I, as an evangelist, just have the vision of Canada, I might miss the global impact. And the more I pray for the more I find stirred for the nations, it’s, it’s this interesting thing. And I, and I fight it going well. I need to, you know, Canada will be saved and, and I believe that, but I also believe there’s such a call for Canada to raise up evangelists and people to bring healing to nations. And so I believe that’s part of our future
Evangelism Coach Daniel King (07:35):
In Canada has a, a rich heritage of having an impact on the nations. As I travel around the world, I, I meet many Canadian missionaries that are, have given their lives for the sake of the gospel. Just last week, you and I both had the opportunity to participate in the launch of the global evangelist Alliance. And so I was in a studio in Orlando, Florida when Nathan Morris and you were in a stadium over in Amsterdam with the team over there. Yeah. And together we launched this worldwide vision for the, the global evangelist Alliance under the ministry of Empowered21. Yeah. Led by Billy Wilson, the, the president of, Oral Roberts University. And really the, the purpose of this organization is to call evangelists together and to raise up a new generation of evangelists. In the past you had great evangelists like, Oral Roberts, Billy Graham, TL, Osborn, Reinhard Bonnke and they saw God do tremendous things. But now we’re saying this is a new era of evangelism, a new time where, where God wants to, to raise up the, the evangelistic gift in the church. Do, do you see evangelists and people with a heart for evangelism being raised up in Canada? Yeah.
Travis Holownia (08:58):
I believe that I believe that’s our, you know, there’s so many different movements and things that are, that are stirring to go, how do we raise the harvesters up because there’s gonna be a harvest. And I see churches that are shifting their focus from themselves to their community in a, an incredible away where we’ve seen decline in churches. We’ve seen a revitalization of churches that are going, Hey, we’ve been 80 years here and we’re not reaching anyone. And and so I believe it’s, you know, God is the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, and a friend of mine said it this way. You know, he’s not saying he’s the God of three people. He’s the God of legacy. He’s the God of generation,
Evangelism Coach Daniel King (09:35):
The generational God from, from one generation to the next generation.
Travis Holownia (09:38):
And so how do we raise up? And, and, you know, it’s been an honor to serve on that together with you and what God’s doing. But my heart for is how do we release leaders? Like if our ministries, if Daniel Kingman for surgeons, if it’s just about us at the end of the day, our impact will be short. But if we can raise a generat, our ability to raise up sons and daughters that are gonna reach a generation and I’ll never reach, you’ll never reach in places. And, and that will never even thought were possible. Then I think that’s what God’s called us to do. And so that’s why I put my time in. I know that’s why you put your heart into it because Hey, there’s resources out there. There’s the school that we’ve put out on, on video and all that, because why, because we care about another generation because we can’t reach the harvest of ourselves.
Travis Holownia (10:24):
There’s too many people by 2033 is the vision that everyone had had authentic counter with Jesus. That’s pretty impossible for my ministry. I know that’s impossible for you, but if we have thousands of people that say yes to it, and, and so I think it’s bringing people and saying, Hey, God has a call for you finding those people, calling them forth. And so I want to invest my time. I flew to Amsterdam to be part of you flew to Orlando. Why? Because yeah, we can reach a few, but we need a lot more people to be reaching a few
Evangelism Coach Daniel King (10:52):
And together we can accomplish something much greater than if we work separate. Totally. I think this is a time where, where God is calling ministries to partner together to work together. Because often if you’re off alone all by yourself you, you get lonely. Yeah. And, and it’s very difficult to have really significant impact. Yeah. But by working together, I think we really can impact the entire world in our generation. Yeah. And, and often God gives ministers like a, a life message or, or a something that, that most burns on their heart that they keep returning to over and over again in your life. What is the message that God has put in your heart that you, you find yourself preaching over and over again?
Travis Holownia (11:40):
I think there’s two. I think there’s a rising again, that idea that God has called. There’s an anointing to rise in everything he’s called us to do to fulfill that purpose. Not by might not by power, but by the spirit of God, but also to do it with knowing our identity. When I know who’s, I am, I can understand who I am. And I think as an evangelist, those, those listening, watching I think it’s so important to have that heart posture, cuz it’s so easy to strive and try to perform. And our identity become what we do, not who we are and we’re human beings, not human doings. And it’s something so key. And sometimes we’re like, we gotta conquer the world. Well, he’s got the whole world in his hands. We believe that he’s gonna build the church, our job’s to go and be good pointers to him, but I can’t save someone.
Travis Holownia (12:25):
I can’t heal someone. I can’t deliver someone he can. And my job’s to point really well. And, but I also have to know that I’m a son that I’m loved. Doesn’t matter if I’ve reached one or I’ve reached the millions. I’m still, it’s still the same place I am with him. And I think that’s so key in what we do because like you said, it can be lonely. And I think that’s why GE that’s why empower 21. That’s why any group that we’re part of is so important to run together and, and be together and be vulnerable with people like can actually call you on things and say, Hey, who’s in your life. And so if you’re an evangelist, you’re watching find, find some people to run with, find some people that can speak in your life, find some people that can actually call you on the stuff that you’re doing. Right. And the stuff that you need to maybe not do right. To do
Evangelism Coach Daniel King (13:09):
That. If someone wants to invite you to come minister at their church or, or they wanna find out more about out resurgence. Yeah. What’s your website. How can they find you?
Travis Holownia (13:17):
Live resurgence, L I V E R E S U R G E M C e.com. And
Evangelism Coach Daniel King (13:23):
I’d encourage you to, to reach out to, to Travis and, and, and hear his heart for the nations. Let’s finish by praying for the nation of Canada. You know I’ve been praying for Canada. My, my wife is Canadian. Both of my kids have Canadian passports, I’m American. And so I feel a little bit left out, but still we are praying for Canada and, and we actually have a ministry in Canada, king ministries, Canada. And because of that, we, we are asking God to, to send revival the churches in, in Canada in that many places that, where the church has gotten weak or, or, or died down, that they would see flames of revival. Yeah. So let’s just pray for God to impact the nation of Canada and to, to raise up a new generation of young people to have an impact. Would, would you lead us in a prayer? Yeah.
Travis Holownia (14:15):
You know, we one of the verses that Canada has founded on is Psalm 72. Well, he shall have dominion from sea to sea, to the rivers, to the ends of the earth. And as you said that, I just think of that. That’s what I’m gonna pray that he shall have dominion. And so God, we thank you today for this opportunity. God, we thank you for the nation of Canada. And we declare today, we decree today, God, a move over your spirit in the nation, from the rivers to the ends of the earth, God, from east to the west, from the south to the north, that you would have dominion as our nation was founded on the word of God, God, we call it back to its vision, without vision, the people perish. And I call my nation back to its vision, that it should have dominion, that he shall have dominion.
Travis Holownia (14:56):
And I thank you for that verse without vision that people parish it’s written on our parliament buildings. I thank you for a shift today in our nation, whether it seems dark and bleak and impossible. I thank you. We serve a God that all things are possible, not by my, not by power, but by the spirit. And we declare a rising again of your spirit in the nation of Canada. I thank you for the ministries, the churches, and we just speak. Lord, would you increase the work? Would you increase the harvester harvesters? Would you, would you call forth more missionaries and more evangelists in our nation? I thank you for what you’re doing worldwide. I thank you for those. Listen and watching today, wherever they are. I pray that you would bless them, that you would equip them, that your holy spirit would come and fall on everyone listening to this podcast today, I pray healing in hearts, healing in bodies, and I pray such a fresh passion for evangelism to arise in every single person in Jesus name. Amen. Amen. Thank you such an honor to be with you. Daniel Love what you’re doing. You’re doing keep doing what you’re doing. Thank you.
Speaker 5 (15:56):
Thanks so much for listening to the evangelism podcast. I am excited about telling people about Jesus and we could not preach the gospel without your help. Over our years of ministry, we found that we’re able to reach one person for Jesus for every dollar that people give us.
