Transcript:

Jeff Symons (00:01:35):
Now, Daniel, we were kind of doing a little bit of reminiscing. Now I’m pretty sure I remembered this a little bit more clearly than you, but we’ve met a couple times and I was first introduced to you and your story through TL Osborne, and if, correct

Evangelist Daniel King (00:01:52):
Me if I’m wrong, great missionary evangelist. What a great evangelist Dr. Osborn was.

Jeff Symons (00:01:58):
Now you were mentored by him, right?

Evangelist Daniel King (00:02:00):
Yeah. I really look up to Dr. Osborn as a spiritual father. He had a big impact on my life just through the books that he wrote When I was very young. I used to read his book on soul winning his book on healing, and I’d look at the pictures in his book and dream of doing mass evangelism. And then when I got older, I went and tried to meet with him. My Bible school, Victory Bible Institute was in his old building, and so he still had his offices there. So I went and I would bug his secretary and ask her like, Hey, could I set up a meeting with Dr. Osborn? She was always very nice to me, but she’d say, oh, he’s so busy. He’s traveling all over the place. He doesn’t really meet with people here in Tulsa. And so eventually I had to travel all the way to Costa Rica where he was doing a crusade because I really wanted to learn from Osborn.

(00:02:59):
And I sat in the front row every single day. He spoke for five days. He would speak for several hours every morning, several hours every night. And I was just soaking it all up. And by the fourth or fifth day he says, who is this young man who’s always on the front row? I was only about 19 or 20 at the time. And so I got to meet him, and then we became friends, and then I had some other evangelist friends that wanted to meet Dr. Osborn. And so one of my friends called me and says, could you set up a meeting with him? And I said, well, he doesn’t meet with people very often. I know that from experience, but I’ll ask him if we can set up a meeting. And so I invited him over to my house and instead of just inviting one evangelist to come, I invited 30 evangelists. And so we had evangelists fly in from all over the world. They sat in my living room and we all got to ask Dr. Osborn some questions. And so before he passed away, we did that five times and each time we had about 30 different evangelists sit in our living room. And it was an amazing experience just listening to the great missionary statesmen share his truths and insights about what God is doing around the world.

Jeff Symons (00:04:15):
He had such a unique ministry and really with his family, and now I’ve heard this said, it’s not one of those things that you can really fact check, but that his family had seen more miracles than any other family had. And you look at some of those crusades and all the crutches on the wall and just so many miracles that had taken place. You think, man, one of the things about crusade evangelism, for those that have not ever been there in person, when you see, we see these big pictures or you see all the effects of it, a lot of times you can miss what happens behind the scenes and you can miss the journey that the Lord takes people on to end up in that place. When you see Reinhard Bonnke’s, the camera flying over, it’s just seas of people. You think, okay, it feels disconnected from the American Christian life. And one of the things that I appreciate about you and about your ministry is that you help other people to do it and make it in a way that’s tangible, achievable, reachable, so that it’s something they can actually do if they feel called to that.

Evangelist Daniel King (00:05:24):
Yeah, absolutely. And I think what you said about Dr. Osborn’s family seeing more miracles than any other family is true. Dr. LaDonna Osborn, his daughter is a friend of mine to this day, and she was just born in this family that was going all over the world preaching the gospel, and from a very young age, she grew up on the platform of crusades all over the world, and she has literally seen thousands and thousands of miracles. It’s amazing. Tia Osborn, one of the banners that he would often hang behind him when he preached was Hebrews 13:8, It says, Jesus Christ is the same yesterday to today and forever. That was his message that the same Jesus that we read about in the pages of the Bible is alive today, and he will do the same things today that he did when he walked on the earth.

(00:06:26):
And so when Jesus walked on the earth, the blind eyes were opened, the deaf ears were open, the cripples stood up and began to walk, and Jesus is the same. And so if he’s alive today, then we preach in the name of Jesus and Jesus continues to open blind eyes. He continues to open deaf ears. He continues to heal the cripples and the people with diabetes and the people with aids and cancer. In fact, there’s nothing that Jesus can’t heal. In the Bible, it says that Jesus went about healing every sickness and every disease. And so he continues to do the same thing. Today that was Dr. Osborn’s message. And because of his influence, that’s what I preach, that Jesus can do miracles today.

Jeff Symons (00:07:13):
Amen. Well, so you just got back from Ethiopia, so I’m just curious, what are some of the miracles that you witnessed?

Evangelist Daniel King (00:07:21):
Yeah, we had a tremendous crusade and fire conference in Ethiopia. I just got back a couple of days ago and it was really a great crusade. We were in an area of Ethiopia that has been closed off for the last five years because it’s in an area where they speak Oria. The national language of Ethiopia is Amharic, but in this particular area, they speak Oramia. And for the last five years there’s been a group of this oria speaking people that have wanted to separate from the larger government. And so they formed the Mia Liberation Group, and they were basically gorillas. They were threatening people’s lives. They took over some churches to use them as headquarters, and they really made it very difficult for people to live in this area. And so because of that, for the last five years, gospel work really wasn’t able to be done.

(00:08:28):
But two months ago, a peace treaty was signed and they all laid down their weapons. And so now for the first time we were able to go into this area, so we were originally scheduled to go to a different part of Ethiopia, but when we heard that this peace treaty had been signed, we said, we need to go to this area that’s been closed off. And so we found that the people were very spiritually hungry. They were desperate waiting to hear a word from God, and we really saw God move in a tremendous way. There was one man, he had a tumor on his back, his lower back that was about the size of a grape, so about this size. And while we prayed, the tumor fell off his back and he came up and testified, and you could still see a place on his back where that tumor had been and the tumor was gone.

(00:09:20):
And so that was a great miracle. Also, there was a little girl, six years old, and she had washed her face in some dirty water and because of the dirty water, it gotten her left eye and it caused her eye to go blind. And for six months, this girl’s eye was blind, and it was so precious. Jesus opened her eye and she was able to see her mother was so scared that her daughter would be blind the rest of her life, but Jesus opened her eye and now her eyesight is perfect. That was just two of many, many miracles that we saw there. God also opened up the door for us to meet with the Speaker of the House in Ethiopia after the Prime Minister and the President, he’s probably number three in the country. He’s the head of their entire legislative body. And God gave us the chance to pray with him and to pray for the nation of Ethiopia there in the legislative house of Ethiopia.

(00:10:18):
So God gave us tremendous favor. And I’ve been to Ethiopia quite a bit over the years. I think this is my 11th or 12th time there in the nation, and we always work with a great ministry called Joshua Campaign led by Per, he’s a missionary from Sweden who’s married to an Ethiopian, and he has been working there in Ethiopia for many years. Joshua campaign has done probably close to 200 crusades in Ethiopia. And when they first started back in the late nineties, Ethiopia had just come out of communism. So back under communism, the Ethiopian communists had killed pastors and really persecuted the church. And so at that time, Ethiopia was about 3% evangelical Christian. And now 25 years later, it has gone from 3% to over 20% Evangelical Christian. And at the same time it’s gone from about 40 million people to now they have about 110 million people. And so that represents over the last 25 years, over 20 million people plus that have given their lives to Jesus and are serving Jesus in the nation of Ethiopia. It’s one of the greatest unsung revivals in history. There are not very many places where you’ve seen 20 million plus people come to Jesus over a 25 year period. And not many people know about it. Not many people have heard about it, but God is moving in Ethiopia in a really powerful and wonderful way.

Jeff Symons (00:12:13):
That’s awesome. You mentioned some of the numbers, and I love talking about the numbers when it comes to salvation type things, the Bible thinks it’s important, right?

Evangelist Daniel King (00:12:23):
Right. It’s important

Jeff Symons (00:12:23):
To record.

Evangelist Daniel King (00:12:24):
There’s a book in the Bible called numbers, so we should pay attention to numbers.

Jeff Symons (00:12:29):
We you individual, and then you get the 5,000. We get all everything in between the one and the mass numbers. And the reason I bring up that is when we first met and had coffee, I think it was at Starbucks, you were in the process of trying to reach the million people by the time you were 30 years old, that was the goal. And now if I’m getting this correct, the goal is a million a year.

Evangelist Daniel King (00:13:06):
Yeah, that’s the goal. So when I was 15 years old, I was reading a success book. I said, if you want to be successful, you need to write down your goals. And one of the goals that they said would be good for young people is to try to make a million dollars before the age of 30 to become a millionaire. But I realized that because of my upbringing as a missionary and in Juarez Mexico, that money was not what was important to me. What was important was souls. And so at the age of 15, I wrote down, I, Daniel King want to lead 1 million people to Jesus before I turn 30 years of age instead of trying to become a millionaire, to lead a million heirs into the kingdom of God, to become a soul millionaire. And so when I was younger, I’d always read the books of Tal Osborne, oral Roberts, Billy Graham, and I dream about doing that someday.

(00:13:55):
And so I was a student at Oral Roberts University, and while I was still a student, God opened the door for me to do my first big gospel crusade down in Honduras. I took 10 people from my wing at ORU with me, and in one week we ministered to 43,000 people in Honduras. And so then the next year I did two crusades, and the next year I did more. And I’m excited to tell you that before I turned 30 years of age, we reached the goal of leading over a million people to Jesus. And we kept careful count of how many people we’ve prayed the salvation prayer with, and now it’s really close to the 4 million mark. But I was praying, I was asking God, what comes next? And I felt like God say, go for a million souls every single year. Now in the natural, that seems impossible, but with God, all things are possible.

(00:14:49):
Last year we had close to a quarter million people that we prayed with salvation, and I just need more money, more partners, more relationships around the world to reach that 1 million mark. But I definitely think it is doable. And now what we’re seeing is we’re starting to train other evangelists. And so some of the evangelists that I’ve been training have seen tremendous results. And so between my efforts and the efforts of some of the people we’ve trained, if you count it all together, we’re probably hitting the million plus mark. But still, I want to personally lead a million people to Jesus in a salvation prayer every year. That’s my goal.

Jeff Symons (00:15:35):
It’s interesting. I didn’t know that we had that. You started or cut your teeth in Juarez, so to speak. You said, did you grow up there?

Evangelist Daniel King (00:15:45):
Yeah. So I saw on your website that you’ve done a lot of stuff in Juarez, Mexico, which is cool. My parents became missionaries in Juarez when I was 10 years old, and so they worked 20 years in Mexico, and then my parents felt that Mexico was getting really dangerous, so they wanted to go somewhere safer. So they moved to Kabul, Afghanistan, and they lived 12 years in Kabul, Afghanistan. That’s just a joke, by the way. Juarez was dangerous. Kabul was probably a little bit more dangerous, but they were 20 years in Mexico and then 12 years in Afghanistan. And so I grew up my entire teenage years running around the streets of Juarez, a lot of dirt streets, passing out flyers, inviting kids to come to Fiesta. We’d run and say Fiesta, and so all these kids would come, they would pour out of the houses into the streets, and we’d go to these little churches that had maybe 12 people in the church, and suddenly there would be 500 or a thousand kids that would show up. And so we would just shut down the street out in front of the church and form a big crowd, put up a sound system, and we would preach to them. And so sometimes my family would do three of those events a day all week long. So we were doing 20, 30 services a week, ministering to thousands of kids, and that was just a normal part of my upbringing.

Jeff Symons (00:17:29):
That’s pretty cool. It’s interesting. That is how I started preaching the gospel was with the kids coming, giving out little candies and stuff and blocking off a street with trucks and plugging into somebody’s house or running a generator and preaching the gospel, setting up with some metal chairs and right in front of a church or something nearby. There’s something that’s so pure about it,

Evangelist Daniel King (00:17:54):
And it’s such a great ministry, such a great way to learn how to minister because if you can control a street full of kids that are yelling for candy, then God can use you to preach the gospel anywhere. But it’s great because kids are so open to the gospel. I’m reminded of the story of DL Moody, the great evangelist in Chicago, and he got started in children’s ministry. He used to fill up a wagon with kids he wanted to preach, but he didn’t know how to preach and he didn’t know anything about preaching. And so he would just open his Bible and whatever page it fell open to, he’d pick a verse and then that would be his text, and he’d minister to the kids. And the pastor didn’t want him ministering to the adults and said, why don’t you start a kid’s ministry? And so deal moody, he went and gave half penny candy to all the kids.

(00:18:56):
And that’s how he got started as an evangelist. And one time someone asked him a question, said, Mr. Moody, I heard that you set a goal to lead at least one person to Jesus every single day of your life. Did you lead anyone to Jesus today? He says, yes, today I led two and a half people to Jesus. They said, two and a half. Oh, you mean two adults and one child? He says, no, two kids and one adult because the kids, they’ve got their whole life ahead of them, but the adult, his life is half over. And so he got started doing kids’ ministry. That’s a great way to get started in evangelism.

Jeff Symons (00:19:32):
Well, yeah, the Lord connected me to Juarez through a dream and a divine connection. It is fun seeing the way that the Lord kind of develops people and connects ’em to their calling. And you’re now speaking at a school that I previously attended. So I went to the Reinhard Bonnke Evangelism School or C fan evangelism school back in 2018. And I really wanted to learn from Peter Vandenberg about how the technical elements behind crusades, and I was interested in how they keep track of the numbers and all the technical things because to the point I was making earlier, the single picture is kind of, that’s what everything is kind of building to make sure that everything is put together. You could have all the prayer and fasting and you can have your sermons ready, but if you have no sound system or you don’t do the due diligence to market and make sure that people know that you’re going to be there, you could have a failed event.

(00:20:33):
And I just appreciated the way that he communicated that and shared that. And I also appreciate how you’ve been training this next generation of evangelists in the how-tos of and making it practical for crusade evangelism because I think there’s a place, there’s kind of these different movements that seem to happen within, we’ll just say the charismatic church, and people will often emphasize one truth at the expense of another, the DL Moody and leading the one or leading the two, right? Sure. Or the Todd White and the one-on-one evangelism and using the gifts in that way. And then we’ll say it and then say, see, we don’t need to do crusade evangelism, or we don’t need to do the city block stuff and wars. And I would say there’s a place for all of it. So I think a lot of it tends to go with whatever culture you’re trying to reach. Some cultures seem to be more receptive to the crusade type things, whereas in, I’d say in America, if you’re going to do a crusade, you can’t approach it the same way you do in Argentina or Kenya. There has to be different draws. What are some of those lessons that you’ve learned and that you kind of help to communicate to some young evangelists?

Evangelist Daniel King (00:21:55):
Yeah, I got to talk one time to Marilyn Hickey, who is a great Bible teacher and evangelist. She’s done many amazing things, especially in Pakistan. And Marilyn Hickey told me that every country has a key that will open the hearts of the people. And she said, you have to pray and ask the Holy Spirit to show you what key is the right key to open the doors wherever you go. And I think it’s different in every place, sometimes even in every town, it can be a different key. And so I think all the different techniques and methods of evangelism are valid as long as you’re using them to lead people to Jesus. And so in some countries, we advertise miracles, signs and wonders, and that helps to draw the people. And in other countries, they have a very young population and young people usually aren’t as sick.

(00:23:00):
And so if you advertise miracles, the young people don’t have that need as much. And so in those countries, maybe it’s music that can attract people or more of a festival model of evangelism on the streets of Si Juarez, we would run through the neighborhoods dressed up like a clown. And so in America, people say, oh, I’m scared of clowns. I don’t want to be anywhere around clowns. But in Mexico during that period, it really worked as a way to draw people. And so Jesus said that we’re fishers of men, and so you got to look for the right bait to attract people in different arenas. In some countries, it could be giving away food or giving away something that people need in that country. And so here in America, one of the things that makes it very difficult sometimes to do big crusades is that people don’t go to stadium events as much.

(00:24:00):
Here in America, if you look at a group of young people, 20 young people, they’ll all have, 20 of them will have a phone in their face and they’ll be looking at what’s on their phone. And so I want to reach American young people. So for the last several months, what I’ve been doing is recording three YouTube shorts every single day and just little 62nd gospel messages in putting them out on YouTube because that’s where young people are. You have to go where people are. And the Bible calls us fishers of men. We need a net to catch fish in what better net than the internet. And so on my YouTube channel evangelist Daniel King, you can go and watch the 62nd gospel messages, just little stories, little gospel truths, an altar call, and then on every single YouTube short, you can put a link to a longer video. So I put a link to a longer video that is accept Jesus Christ today. And people go, and just yesterday we had a comment on that video that said, Hey, I prayed this prayer of salvation with you today. And so we’re just looking for every single way that we can reach people, and every single place has a different key, whether it’s using a 62nd video or whether it’s using fun and games, using a clown makeup, whatever tool God gives you to use it to bring people to Jesus.

Jeff Symons (00:25:42):
You mentioned something earlier that I think it bears a little looking at, because I’ve thought about this several times, that oftentimes when we go to somewhere, or I’ve experienced this anyway where I’ve done all the planning, we’ve done all the preparation, and we get there and we do the event, and I find out later, oh, you were the, what did they say the one time was? Oh, you’re the third evangelist that’s preached here in the last three. Somebody else preached in that field the week before and then somebody else the week before. And I was like, I’m not as interested in that. I want to make sure I’m going somewhere new. I don’t want to keep preaching to the same crowd. Because in some of these cultures, what we can forget is it can be a business and we want to make sure that

Evangelist Daniel King (00:26:32):
Yeah, there’s some countries where that has happened. Yeah,

Jeff Symons (00:26:35):
Right. So how do you help to make sure that when you’re going somewhere that you’re not repeating something or you’re not plowing an existing field, so to speak?

Evangelist Daniel King (00:26:50):
Yeah, I think that’s very important. I really like what the apostle Paul said. He said, I make it my ambition to preach the gospel where Christ is not known. And so he always wanted to go to where no one else had been plowing or working. And so as an evangelist, I think you have to go search those places out. And so what we do in our ministry is instead of doing the big cities, because sometimes the capital city or the big cities in the nation, they do have people that regularly come and attend. They’ll come and preach. It’s easy to get off the plane and preach and then get back on the plane and stay at a comfortable five-star hotel. But we like to go to the secondary or even the smaller towns and villages that no one has been to. And sometimes it’s difficult to get there.

(00:27:49):
Last year we were in Liberia and the roads were really bad. It took about 30 hours bouncing over really bad roads. And I mean, after a bunch of hours of bouncing up all, you’re like, why am I going to this place? Well, the reason we were going there is because not many people went to that area and we had a great crusade and many people got saved. And so you have to search out those places that no one else has gone to. And there’s plenty of places around the world that haven’t had a crusade ever in history, or at least for 20 or 30 years, like a whole generation of people. No one has. I mean, there’s many places in Africa. Bonky went 30 years ago and no one has been there since he was there 30 years ago. And so there’s a whole new generation of young people that have been raised up that have never seen the gospel proclaimed.

(00:28:45):
And another thing that we’ve done is in the early years of my ministry, just because I got started in Mexico, in the early years of my ministry, I really had a heart for the Spanish speaking parts of the world. And so we did a lot in Central and South America. We’ve done crusades in every single one of the Central American countries and several of the South American countries. And I started to notice that the church is actually pretty strong. Guatemala has like 50% evangelical Christians. The church is really strong there. And then when you look at the 10 40 window, which is that area on the map from North Africa all the way through the Middle East, over into Southeast Asia, you have a huge area in that part of the world that is only maybe 1%, 2% Christian, and there’s a much greater need.

(00:29:45):
I mean, there’s some countries where there’s only one missionary for every million people. And so I decided to start focusing our efforts in that part of the world where there is a much greater need. And actually right now we’re working on doing a massive outreach in the nation of Thailand. There is about 77 provinces in Thailand, and we want to do an evangelistic outreach in every single one of those provinces. And so we’re working with the Global Evangelist Alliance, and we just did a great pastor’s conference there. We had about 2000 pastors and church leaders gathered together in Bangkok, and we’re going to go and do big evangelistic crusades in the big cities, and then we’re putting together these little evangelism trucks. So it’s like a little truck with a platform that folds down in a sound system, and we’re going to be sending those out from village to village.

(00:30:58):
And so Thailand has like 70 million people and it’s about 2% Christian, but God has really given the church in Thailand a vision to grow from 2% to 10% of the population. And so that’s 7 million people that the Thai church has faith for to reach. And so that’s something that God gave them. It is not a vision that comes from us, it’s a vision that comes from God. But with this network of evangelists, the global evangelist Alliance, we we’re coming alongside the church in Thailand and saying, come on, let’s work together and let’s bring thousands of people to Jesus in this nation. That is, it’s about 97% Buddhist in their population.

Jeff Symons (00:31:49):
That kind of brings up an interesting point is there seems to be this marrying together of governmental officials and evangelists. You see it with Billy Graham, who I think it was 16, maybe more, 16 presidents or something that he was an advisor to. You were able to meet with people of influence in, I’m sure in more countries than just Ethiopia, but recently in Ethiopia there’s something about that, an evangelist coming into a new region where it’s almost like there’s something to be learned and to get permission and to be able to represent the gospel well in different nations where you find yourself working with politicians and leaders from different countries, different backgrounds. So what are some of the lessons that people need to consider or things to think about when it comes to, okay, say I’m going to a new nation that I’ve never been to before and I’m going to now have to work with, or at least alongside various government officials. What kind of things do you take into consideration when you’re having those types of meetings and interactions?

Evangelist Daniel King (00:33:06):
Yeah, great question. I mean, when you start at the top of society, then you can have an influence on the entire society. And so often we will reach out to local politicians, the local mayor, the governor, some of the political leaders, and we will go and meet with them, pray with them, ask them how we can serve their nation. And those moments are always very precious. Often they are not Christian, but we have the opportunity to share the gospel with someone of influence and it has a tremendous impact. I really like the story of Reinhard Bonky. One time he got to visit the president of an African nation and they spent a lot of time just talking to him about proper protocol, like this is the proper protocol to meet the president. If you’re going to be in his presence, you have to be behave a certain way.

(00:34:11):
You have to do a certain thing. Don’t say anything unless he asks you a question. And so they went into the meeting and at the end of the meeting, God prompted to say, sir, I don’t know much about protocol, but what I do know is altar call, and I want to give you an opportunity to give your life to Jesus right now. And was able to pray with him. And so yes, we meet with important people and you go through the proper protocol. But remember, even people in authority, they are individuals who often are hurting who need a touch from God. And so you need to go into every single meeting asking God, God, what can I do to minister to the needs of this individual?

Jeff Symons (00:35:04):
That’s good. I am curious, what are some of, so I’ve had a little bit of time with Behan, with Bonky and some different evangelists, and it seems like everybody kind of has their own thing that the Lord has given them for how to prepare themselves for the meetings, not just the technical and the marketing and those things, but usually there’s some kind of element or Carlos Anaconda with, I think everybody on the stage has to do at least do a 40 day fast or 21 days. I forget the number, but there’s certain standards that each ministry seems to have. So I’m just curious, what do you do yourself and is there things that you encourage the people that you’re working with to do to spiritually prepare to make sure that, that you’re fully ready for these types of events?

Evangelist Daniel King (00:35:57):
Yeah, that’s a great question. I remember when we had TL Osborne over to our house for one of those meetings that I mentioned earlier, everyone put together questions to ask him. And one time one of the young men asked a similar question to Dr. Osborne. They said, Dr. Osborne, is there a price that must be paid in order to see healing miracles? And he was asking, how much do I need fast? How much do I need to pray? How much do I need to read the Bible to get ready for this? And Dr. Osborne answered it just like this, just super quick. He says, yes, there’s a very high price that must be paid. And Jesus paid it all at the cross. And so he immediately took the focus off of works-based religion and he put the emphasis on Jesus and what Jesus accomplished for us at the cross.

(00:36:57):
And I think that’s something very good to remember. Of course, we need to live holy lives, we need to spend time with God on a daily basis. We need to be reading through the Bible. One of the things I did just recently for my devotions in January, I read through the entire New Testament and I recorded it and I took the recording, put some music behind it, and I put it up on my YouTube channel. And the reason I did is because often I like falling asleep, listening to the Bible and the voice that you believe the most is your own voice. And the Bible says, faith cometh by hearing. And so I wanted to hear myself read God’s word, but then I wanted to share it with everyone else. So I put it up on my YouTube channel. But at my last crusade for the first time, this last crusade in Ethiopia, every night as I was going to sleep, I put on the New Testament and listened to the New Testament just play all night long.

(00:38:06):
And so I’d start off, then I’d get to about Matthew chapter four or five and I’d fall asleep and I’d wake up and we’d be halfway through the book of Romans. And so as I was getting ready for the day listening to the book of Romans, but I mean, what a great way to just feed yourself the word of God. And so if you’re listening, go to my YouTube channel evangelist Daniel King, you can find it and go listen to God’s word. It’s a great way to fall asleep at night. Go ahead and subscribe to Evangelist Daniel King, and not only will you get God’s word, you also get those 62nd gospel stories. Many of them are a great way to communicate the gospel if you are doing crusades or you have a heart to do evangelism. Those stories that I share are a great way to communicate the gospel in different cultures. Like here in the West, we often think about truth in terms of 0.1, two and three A, B, and C. But in many cultures around the world, they communicate truth through stories. And so I’m always looking for little stories that you can put the gospel into and people kind of open up the story and suddenly they discover a gospel truth that impacts them.

Jeff Symons (00:39:35):
That’s really good. You’ve taught a lot of people and spent time in these different schools doing evangelism, schools and training, and you have a lot of material that’s out there. What’s some of the common things that young evangelists get wrong, for example? So I had a team and I was doing a larger crusade event, and I preached certain days and I said, okay, I’ll give everyone on the team, I’ll give you one day, one chance to preach the gospel. I’ll stay on the stage with you so that if you get off track or if you lose it, that’s okay, you can pass the microphone back. And one thing that I hadn’t anticipated was an individual got up on the stage and they didn’t know what to say in preaching the gospel and started telling the

Evangelist Daniel King (00:40:28):
Story, people don’t even know what the gospel is.

Jeff Symons (00:40:30):
Oh, true. And started sharing the story of Ani and the painting and the story of heaven is for real. And then these different kind of stories that were tangentially about Jesus, but not the pure gospel. And I thought, okay, that was a lesson that I learned of, I need to make sure they know how to preach the gospel before they give them a microphone. So what are some of the things that are common for those that maybe they’re called, they just don’t know you’ve made mistakes? I’m sure I’ve made a lot of mistakes in learning the process.

Evangelist Daniel King (00:41:09):
Sure, it is definitely a skill that can be taught and can be improved upon. And often I find even pastors who speak every week to their church at home don’t necessarily know how to translate that speaking skill into communicating the gospel to a mass crowd of people. It’s kind of a completely different skill. So I actually wrote a book to help evangelists with this. It’s called How to Preach the Gospel. And so you can find this on Amazon or on my website, king ministries.com, but this is to learn the secrets of effective evangelism. And over the years, I’ve shared my platform with many different evangelists and many different people, and I’ve probably seen every mistake that there is to make. Every single point in this book is correcting a mistake that somebody made.

(00:42:08):
I think one of the common ones is people just not preparing. They think I’ll just get up and let the Holy Spirit speak through me, but the Holy Spirit can be just as much in the preparation time as he is in the moment. And so I think you should prepare. It costs a lot of money to do a crusade. By the time you rent the platform and the sound system and the plane tickets, everything, you’re investing a lot of money in it. And sometimes it can be 10,000, 20,000, $30,000 or even more. And you wouldn’t go buy a $30,000 car without researching it a little bit. And I don’t think you should stand on a platform without getting ready for it because you might have 45 minutes to speak. Every sentence you speak is costing you $50. So you got to really prepare. And I always encourage people, start with the end and then build backwards from there.

(00:43:08):
And so start with the altar call. How are you going to give the altar call? How are you going to call people to Jesus? And then build backwards all the way to the very beginning, say, and don’t waste any words from the very first moment I go on the platform, I am conscious of building towards the altar call. And so often the first thing I’ll do is I’ll say, Hey, everyone, if you can hear me, wave your hand at me. Can you hear me all the way in the back? If you can hear me back there in the back, wave your hand at me. And I know we got a good sound system. I know they can hear me, but what I’m doing by getting them to wave is I’m getting them to respond. And then I’ll ask them to respond several times throughout the message and repeat key moments of the message.

(00:44:00):
Like I like preaching a sermon on the three greatest miracles in the Bible creation, Calvary and Pentecost. And I get the people to say, God created me. God saves me, God empowers me. And so they remember those, but I’m getting them to respond because I’m building to the moment where I give the altar call and I ask them to respond to Jesus. And so from the very first moment, I start speaking all the way to the end. I have everything thought through, planned out, and pointing towards the goal of calling people to Jesus. And of course, you can never guarantee the altar call. It is not our job to bring all people to Christ. It’s our job to bring Christ to all people. And so it’s the Holy Spirit that draws people to Jesus, but through our words, our illustrations, the Bible, stories that we tell, the scriptures that we quote, the response we ask, or from the crowd, like all of that can help prepare people’s hearts to respond to the Holy Spirit in that moment where you ask them to make that decision between life and death, between heaven and hell, between blessing and cursing.

(00:45:22):
And of course, the Bible says, choose life.

Jeff Symons (00:45:26):
Now, Daniel, I’d be remiss if I have an evangelist, a fellow evangelist who’s on the show. I don’t know, maybe somebody accidentally clicked on the video and YouTube and maybe they skipped all the stuff, or they’re just wondering, what are these two guys talking about? For those that have not heard the gospel, could you give him a short message of who Jesus is?

Evangelist Daniel King (00:45:51):
Yeah, absolutely. 2000 years ago, Jesus, the son of God, was born to a virgin named Mary. He grew up and walked the dusty streets of Israel and he healed the sick. He cleansed the lepers, he raised the dead. Jesus was the son of God. He was fully human and fully God, but he came from heaven in order to save us from our sins. The Bible says that all have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God. The price for sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ. The Bible says, for God so love the world that he gave his only son that whoever would believe in him would not perish but would have everlasting life. Jesus lived a perfect life. He didn’t deserve to be punished, but he gave his life by dying on a cross to pay the price for our sins.

(00:46:44):
And the Bible says that the blood of Jesus will cleanse us from all sin. Jesus died on the cross, but he didn’t stay dead. After three days, Jesus rose from the dead. And today Jesus is alive. And the Bible says that everyone who calls on the name of Jesus, they will be saved. The Bible says, if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus, and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. And so if you want Jesus to save you from your sins, maybe you’ve done some things that are wrong, you’ve lied, you’ve cheated, you’ve stolen, you’ve had hate in your heart towards your brother. All these things are sin and they separate us from God. But if you want to repent from your sin, the word repent means to turn away from your sin. And even if you’re a thousand steps away from God, if you’ll turn towards God, it’s only one step back into a relationship with him.

(00:47:39):
And so if you want Jesus to save you, if you want Jesus to forgive your sin, then I encourage you right now to just call on Jesus and say, Jesus saved me. In fact, just repeat these words after me. Say, dear God in heaven, I ask you to forgive all my sin. I believe that Jesus died on the cross to pay the price for my sin, and I believe that Jesus rose from the dead. And today I choose to follow Jesus. Amen. Now, if you prayed that prayer, I want you to write in the comments right now. Hey, I prayed that prayer right now, and if you’ll do that, then we’ll see your YouTube handle and we will pray for you because I believe that God has a wonderful plan for your life. God loves you so much. He sent his only son. And so I love presenting the gospel in different countries.

(00:48:41):
I’ll present the gospel using different little stories. So let me give you one of the 62nd stories that I just recorded this yesterday for my YouTube channel. I encourage you go to Evangelist Daniel King and subscribe to my YouTube channel right now. But this is the story. One time there was this teacher who lived in the country of Ethiopia, and he was very smart. He knew the answer to every single question the kids asked him. They’d ask him a math question, he’d know the answer. They’d ask him a history question. He’d always know the answer. And so one time this little boy in the class, he says, I want to trick my teacher and ask him a question he doesn’t know the answer to. So he went out in the garden and he caught himself a butterfly. And he said, I’m going to go ask the teacher, teacher, teacher.

(00:49:31):
Is the butterfly in my hand alive or dead? If the teacher says it’s dead, he was going to open his hand and let the butterfly fly away. But if the teacher says it’s alive, his plan was to crush the butterfly and says, no, it’s dead. And so he puts his plan into motion. He goes out in the garden and he grabs a butterfly. Teacher, teacher, teacher is the butterfly in my hand? Is it alive or dead? And the teacher was a very wise teacher. He stroked his beard like this, and he says, little boy, he says, the decision of life and death is in your hands. You see, our decision to choose life or to choose death is in our hands. God gives us a choice. Will you choose to Jesus or will you choose to follow the devil? Will you go to heaven or will you go to hell?

(00:50:34):
Will you choose the way of salvation or will you choose the way of destruction? The Bible says that broad is the path that leads to destruction. Many people choose the way of death, but the Bible says that narrow is the path that leads to life. And so God gives you a choice. He says, I set before you life and death, blessing and cursing. And then the Bible says, therefore, choose life. It’s like a test that you take at school. God gives you these two choices, but then God gives you the answer to the test. He says, choose life. Will you choose life right now? Will you choose to follow Jesus? If you want to say yes to Jesus, just type yes in the comments right now. Say, yes, I choose to follow Jesus. Yes, I want to make Jesus the Lord of my life. And so you can take a little story like that, and it’s about a little kid. The kids start listening to it and you capture them with a story, and then you slip in the gospel and give people a chance to turn to Jesus.

Jeff Symons (00:51:42):
That’s awesome. I love that story. I remember, I think it was Billy Graham used the story of the ant, a similar type of story of the ant. It is been a long time since I’ve heard it, but I was reminded of it in hearing the story of the butter flag.

Evangelist Daniel King (00:52:02):
Tell me the story of the an. Do you remember it?

Jeff Symons (00:52:05):
I don’t remember it.

Evangelist Daniel King (00:52:06):
I got to go look it up. Remember, I got to make a 60 seconds short of Billy Graham’s story of the aunt.

Jeff Symons (00:52:10):
There you go. Billy Graham ant story. It’s out there. Well, Daniel, thank you for joining us today. Would you pray for the audience, for anybody that’s viewing just whatever’s on your heart?

Evangelist Daniel King (00:52:21):
Yeah. Before I pray, could I make your audience aware of several resources that would be a blessing to them?

Jeff Symons (00:52:29):
Sure.

Evangelist Daniel King (00:52:29):
Okay. So if you have a calling for evangelism, I really encourage you to join the Global Evangelist Alliance. And so this is a group of spirit empowered evangelists, and you can find them by typing in Global Evangelist Alliance, and you can find their website on their website. There is a free video school that will help you to be effective at sharing your faith. And so I’d encourage you to go and join. It’s free to join. We’re looking for evangelists all over the world. Anybody who has a heart to share Jesus with people. And you may not even know if you’re called to be an evangelist, but if you have a heart to bring people to Jesus, go and join. And they have a lot of resources, coaching and mentoring and different things that can help you to be a better evangelist. Okay? Another resource that we’ve talked about is the Christ for All Nations Evangelism Bootcamp, Reinhard Bonnke, the Ministry of Reinhard Bonnke and Daniel Kalinda have a great training school for evangelists, and they’re just getting ready to launch a Bible school for training people who have a heart for following after God.

(00:53:47):
And so I’d encourage you to go search for Christ for all nations. And if you have a heart to be an evangelist, go avail yourself of their training and what they’re doing. I’m a teacher in their Bible school and they’re training up lots of evangelists all over the world, and it will be a blessing to you. Okay, then my resources, I have a website, king ministries.com, and I’ve written a bunch of books. And if you’ll go to my website, king ministries.com and give me your email address, I will email you three of my eBooks as my gift to you, absolutely free gift. Just go to my website, king ministries.com and give me your email address. Lemme tell you about some of the resources I have for evangelists. I got this book, how to Preach the Gospel. This teaches you how to preach the gospel, how to prepare a gospel sermon, how to work with a translator, how to pray for the sick, how to pray for people to be filled with the Holy Spirit, how to minister to Muslims and Jews and Catholics and different groups, different ways of ministering to different groups of people.

(00:55:04):
I’ve also got this book, the Gospel in pictures. What does the gospel look like? I go through a bunch of different ways of presenting the gospel visually. And so this is a great book. You can find it on Amazon and on my website, the gospel and Pictures. I’ve also got this book on healing, healing power if you want God to use you in the area of healing. And that’s one of the gifts of an evangelist is to see God do great miracles. The only person in the whole New Testament who specifically called an evangelist is Philip the evangelist. And so in Acts chapter eight, when Philip goes to Samaria, there are signs and wonders and multitudes of people. And so if you read this book, it will help you to develop and you area of believing God for healing when you pray for the sick.

(00:55:56):
And then I got this book proof, God is real. I really want to reach atheist and agnostics with the truth of God’s creation. And so I looking at YouTube and Twitter, and I was following a bunch of atheist and agnostic, different commentators, and I collected up all the questions that they’re asking, and I answered all those questions in this book, prove God is real. And so this is an apologetics book, which is a defense of the faith. And so they often say that apologetics is pre evangelism. And so before you ask people to put their trust in God, they have to believe that there actually is a God. And so this will help you to answer some of the questions that our post-Christian society is asking. If you have a church, I wrote a book for you called How to Grow Your Church. These are over 300 real ideas that real churches are using to grow their church reaching out to their community.

(00:57:04):
These will work in America, they’ll work in other countries around the world. But I encourage you to find this book, how to Grow Your Church. And then if you’re an evangelist, this is one of the questions I get the most, Jeff, is how do you raise money to do crusades? And so I actually wrote a book, how To Raise Money For Your Ministry. TL Osborne said, if you don’t have money, you won’t have a ministry. And so sometimes people act very spiritual and you ask, well, how does ministry happen? And they say, well, God just did it all. And that’s true. But every ministry that’s successful, usually they are raising money to be able to do crusades to travel. And so this is a very important part of being an evangelist. And so all those are available on my website and you can also go to amazon.com and get them. But if you’ll give me your email address on my website, I’ll email you three eBooks absolutely free as my gift to you. Alright, I think

Jeff Symons (00:58:02):
That’s also the links for all of that will be in the description also, so you can just click and go right to it.

Evangelist Daniel King (00:58:08):
Awesome. Well, thank you Jeff. Okay, that was a lot. I know you asked me to pray, but I wanted to make sure I get that in before we finish up today, just because I love equipping evangelists, Jeff, I told you we’ve talked about this goal to lead a million people to Jesus. And that goal has expanded. And in addition to me leading a million people to Jesus, I feel that part of my assignment is to help raise up at least a hundred evangelists that would each lead at least a million people to Jesus. And so I love pouring resources and help for evangelists. And so anything I can do to help coach you in evangelism, I have some coaching available, some online training as well. So reach out to me. You can find all my information at my website, king ministries.com, and I’d love to do whatever I can to help you develop in your calling as an evangelist.

(00:59:16):
Alright, let’s pray. Hallelujah. And I really feel the Holy Spirit right now in this moment. It’s the Holy Spirit that has the heart for evangelism. God loves every single person. God wants every single person to be saved. He doesn’t desire that a single soul would be lost. And the mandate of Jesus was to go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature to go and make disciples of all nations. And the Bible says, acts one, eight, you shall receive power after the Holy Spirit comes upon you, and you will be my witnesses to the ends of the earth. And so right now, I’m going to pray that you would be filled with Holy Spirit power to be a witness, to fulfill the great commission to go and to make disciples in every nation. Let’s pray. Dear Heavenly Father, right now, I pray for my friend who’s watching this right now.

(01:00:18):
I pray that my friend would be filled with the power of the Holy Spirit, the power to be a witness, be filled right now with the power of the Holy Spirit, to be a witness, to be an evangelist. Lord, I thank you that every single one of us can do the work of an evangelist. Lord, I pray for my friend. Sometimes my friend feels hesitant or shy or anxious about sharing their faith. But right now, father, I pray that you would fill them with the power of the Holy Spirit to preach your word with great boldness. Lord, I pray that your hands would be healing hands that every person you touch would feel the touch of Jesus. Just right now, put your hands on your mouth generally, father, I pray that your mouth would be a gospel voice, that every word that you speak would bring people closer to Jesus and just touch your feet.

(01:01:22):
The Bible says, beautiful are the feet of those that bring good news. I’m touching my feet right now. The beautiful are the feet of those who bring good news. And so your feet are beautiful. Every step you take, you can go and bring people closer to Jesus. And I pray that your heart would beat for souls, that your heartbeat would be the same as God’s heartbeat for people, for people, people to be saved. Father, I pray that you would open our eyes. Just put your hand on your eyes. Lord, I pray that you would open our eyes so that we could see the harvest fields, the people that need Jesus help us in our everyday life to look and to see people as you see them on the outside, they may look successful, they may look like they are a rich businessman, but on the inside you know that they’re hurting. Help us to see people as you see them. Help us to see the harvest fields. Now put your hand on your ears. Father, I pray that you would open our ears so that we could hear the voices of those that need Jesus. And Lord, I pray that through my friend watching this video that they would be encouraged to spread your word. Every word they go, that they would be motivated to bring many people to you. In Jesus’ name I pray, amen.

Jeff Symons (01:02:48):
Amen. Well, Daniel, thank you for joining us.

Evangelist Daniel King (01:02:52):
Absolutely. It’s great to be with you, Jeff. The Lord bless you. And the Lord bless all of the evangelism that you’re doing. I pray that God will give you a greater harvest of souls than you could ask, think or imagine. In Jesus name.

Jeff Symons (01:03:06):
Amen. Amen. Well bless you, Daniel.
