Main Idea: Choosing to follow Jesus is like getting married.
Key Verse: “I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing; therefore choose life” (Deuteronomy 30:19 NKJV).
Illustration: Before I got married there were thousands of girls to choose from. But I met a beautiful girl and I decided to ask for her hand in marriage. Out of many different choices, I chose one. Now I have been married for many years and I am so thankful that I married a girl who loves God and who loves me. Today, I am asking you to make a choice to follow Jesus. In the same way that marriage is a commitment, choosing to follow Jesus is a commitment. When I married my wife, I said “yes” to her and “no” to all the other girls in the world. When you choose to follow Jesus, you say “yes” to him and “no” to your old way of living.
