Peru is traditionally divided into three distinct regions: the coastal plain along the Pacific Ocean, the rugged Andes Mountains, and the vast Amazon jungle. Each region has its own culture, geography, and unique ministry opportunities. Over the years, our ministry has been privileged to preach the Gospel in all three regions. We have held crusades in Lima, in Cusco, and in Iquitos, sharing the message of Jesus throughout Peru.
Report from Lima
We just held a powerful Gospel outreach at Plaza Manco Cápac, one of the historic public plazas in Lima. This plaza is named after Manco Cápac, the legendary founder of the ancient Incan civilization. For many years, the plaza has been known as a place of drug dealers, prostitutes, and thieves, but on the night of our crusade, the Gospel of Jesus Christ was boldly proclaimed in the center of the plaza.
The local mayor, Rubén Cano, has been working hard to clean and restore the plaza. When we asked permission to hold the outreach there, he gladly welcomed us. Soon the place was filled with music, prayer, games, and the preaching of the Gospel.
As people walked through the plaza, many stopped to listen. Families gathered together. Young people stood at the edges of the crowd watching with curiosity. The presence of God was touching hearts even before the message was proclaimed.
When I stood to preach, I shared a simple and crystal-clear Gospel message about Jesus Christ. I preached that Jesus still saves, forgives sin, and changes lives today. When I gave the altar call, people responded with hunger for God. Hands were lifted across the crowd as many prayed to receive Jesus Christ.
The mayor came to the crusade, and we had the opportunity to pray over him and to bless the city of Lima.
The Evangelism Conference
We also hosted an evangelism conference to train local leaders to share the Gospel. So many people wanted to attend the conference that a line extended around the block before the doors opened.
I preached on the importance of evangelism, and I taught everyone how to share the good news by using a simple drawing called “The Three Circles.” One moment deeply touched my heart. A seven-year-old girl named Emily came to me and asked for 24 stickers with “The Three Circles.” She explained that she wanted to give one to every student in her class at school so her friends could learn about Jesus, too. Her faith and boldness were beautiful reminders that God is raising up a new generation with a passion for souls.
Evangelism is a Team Sport
Many different churches and ministries helped with our Peru outreach. We had representatives from the Go Movement, ShareWord Global (they gave us lots of literature for follow-up), Aviva Peru, the Bible Society, Nueva Generation de Evangelistas (Global Network of Evangelists), Alpha, One Hope, Empowered21, and the Global Evangelist Alliance. Peter Hornung (Pastor of Agua Viva) and Cindy Jacobs were also part of the event. Many thanks to Alejandro Arias and our crusade director, Elias Daniel, for their help with making the crusade a reality.
God is raising an army of evangelists! Three years ago, I trained evangelists at the Christ for All Nations Evangelism Bootcamp. One of these evangelists was Matias Piti Toivainen from Finland. After he graduated, he went to Lima, Peru, and did a Jesus Camp to train evangelists. The graduates of his Jesus Camp helped me with my crusade in Lima by passing out flyers, going door to door, inviting people to come to the crusade, collecting decision cards during
the altar call, and praying for people in a deliverance tent. These students are excited about telling people about Jesus. It is wonderful to see how a new passion for evangelism is rising around the world.
Thank You for Helping Us Preach the Gospel
The Bible says there is joy in heaven over one sinner who repents. Heaven rejoiced in Peru as lives were changed and people encountered the love and power of Jesus Christ.
Thank you for praying for us and supporting world evangelism. Because of your partnership, the Gospel is being preached in places where many people have never truly heard the message of salvation. Together we are changing lives for eternity.
All for Jesus,
Evangelist Daniel King
Report from Cusco, Peru
Cusco, Peru, was the historic capital of the Inca Empire and one of the most important cities in pre-Columbian America. Founded in the 12th century according to tradition, Cusco became the political, religious, and cultural center of a vast empire that stretched across much of western South America. In 1533, Spanish conquistadors led by Francisco Pizarro captured the city. Today, Cusco blends Inca and Spanish heritage and serves as the gateway to Machu Picchu, one of the world’s most famous archaeological sites.
The Plaza de Armas stands at the heart of Cusco and was once the ceremonial center of the Inca Empire. Today, it is surrounded by historic colonial buildings, restaurants, and churches. Dominating the square is the magnificent Cusco Cathedral, built between 1560 and 1654 on the foundations of an Inca palace, symbolizing the city’s rich blend of Inca and Spanish heritage.
Below is a picture of me ministering to children in this historic location.
Report from Iquitos, Peru
Iquitos is the largest city in the Peruvian Amazon and one of the world’s largest cities inaccessible by road. Surrounded by lush rainforest, it serves as a gateway to the Amazon River and its tributaries. Hundreds of small villages are scattered along the riverbanks, many reachable only by boat. These communities depend on the river for transportation, fishing, and daily life. We took our team on a big river boat and we went village to village preaching the Gospel.
On the night I preached in Iquitos, Peru, the city was in turmoil. Teachers had not been paid for six months, and a massive strike had erupted into a riot. As the crusade was underway, reports began reaching us that protesters were marching through the city, breaking store windows and burning tires in the streets. Then we received alarming news: the rioters were headed directly toward the plaza where we were holding our outreach.
I quickly gathered my team and instructed them to return to the hotel where they would be safe. Then I turned back to the crowd and continued preaching the Gospel. As the tension in the city increased, I focused on giving people an opportunity to respond to Jesus. I preached, gave the altar call, and prayed with those who came forward. Just as I finished and said, “Amen,” the riot surged into the plaza.
God had given us exactly enough time to complete the meeting and invite people to Christ before the chaos arrived.
