New Year’s Resolutions

It is traditional to make resolutions for the New Year. Usually people make a resolution to lose weight, or to earn more money, or to stop doing a bad habit. But what are some good spiritual resolutions to make? Below are ten resolutions that will help your walk with God in the coming year.

  1. Grow Closer to God
    “But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.” – Matthew 6:33
    Spend more time in prayer, reading the Bible, and worship to deepen your relationship with God.
  2. Love Others More Fully
    “A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another.” – John 13:34
    Commit to showing kindness, forgiveness, and grace to everyone you encounter.
  3. Share Your Faith Boldly
    “Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.” – Matthew 28:19
    Be intentional about sharing the Gospel with others and living as a light in the world.
  4. Serve Others in Humility
    “Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of God’s grace in its various forms.” – 1 Peter 4:10
    Use your talents and resources to bless others and glorify God.
  5. Strengthen Your Family Relationships
    “Above all, love each other deeply, because love covers over a multitude of sins.” – 1 Peter 4:8
    Invest time in your family, showing love, patience, and forgiveness in your interactions.
  6. Practice Gratitude Daily
    “Give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.” – 1 Thessalonians 5:18
    Keep a gratitude journal or make it a habit to thank God for His blessings every day.\

    “Honor the Lord with your wealth, with the firstfruits of all your crops.” – Proverbs 3:9

    “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding.” – Proverbs 3:5
    Rely on God’s wisdom and guidance, even when life feels uncertain.
  10. Take Care of Your Body as God’s Temple
    “Do you not know that your bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own.” – 1 Corinthians 6:19
    Commit to healthy habits like eating well, exercising, and getting enough rest, recognizing your body is a gift from God.
