Main Idea: Jesus cleans us from our sin.
Illustration: Once there was a father and he had a wonderful son. One day they walked hand in hand to school. The father saw there were many mud puddles on the street and he told the son not to let go of his hand and not to run because the father did not want him to slip and fall into the mud. But soon the boy saw a butterfly and he got distracted. He let go of his father’s hand and chased the butterfly. Suddenly, he slipped. He fell face down into a mud puddle. When the boy got up, he was covered in mud. His uniform was dirty and the boy started to cry because he thought his father would be mad at him.
But the father saw everything that happened and the father was not angry or mad at the son. The father had compassion on his son. The father picked up his son and he carried him back home. The father cleaned him up and put a brand new uniform on the boy, better than before.
Now the boy was smiling. He was happy again. The father and the son walked hand in hand all the way to school. This time the boy did not let go of the father’s hand.
We are like the son and God is like the father. God loves us very much, but we, like the boy, disobeyed God. This is called sin. Sin separates us from God and sin makes our heart and conscious dirty. God sent Jesus Christ in his love. He was not mad or angry, but in His compassion God sent Jesus to die for our sins. Jesus bled and died on the cross. On the third day, Jesus rose from the dead. If we repent, if we turn from sin and turn to Jesu and believe in him, we will be saved.
The father gave the son a brand new uniform and God wants to give you a brand new heart. If you want to receive a new heart from God, raise your hand to Jesus now.
