Main Idea: The Bible is your instruction manual.
Verse: “Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path” (Psalm 119:105 NKJV).
Story: Once there was a foolish man who bought a brand new radio. Inside the box with the radio there was an instruction manual. But the man was foolish so he tossed the instruction manual to one side.
He took the radio out of the box and started to play music. As the music played, he began to dance. One day as he danced, he accidentally kicked the radio. It fell on the ground and was covered in dust.
The man dipped the radio into a bucket of water and washed it off with soap and water. Then he set it in the sun to dry.
Later, when the man was ready to dance he turned the radio on. It made a terrible noise, “Weaaaaaaah” and then there was silence.
He put the radio and the instruction manual back into the box and went back to the shop where he bought the radio. He angrily shouted at the shopkeeper, “This radio is defective. It does not work.”
“Well, the radio was fine when you bought it,” said the shop owner, “What did you do when you took it home?”
The foolish man explained how he had washed the radio in a bucket with soap and water. The shop owner laughed at him and asked, “Did you read the instruction book for the radio?”
“No,” replied the foolish man. The shop owner explained, “Right on page one of the instruction manual, it clearly says, ‘Do not get the radio wet or it will be destroyed.’”
The foolish man destroyed his radio because he did not read the instruction manual.
