Transcript:

Evangelist Daniel King (00:00):

Welcome to the Evangelism Podcast. I’m Daniel King. I’m excited about telling people about Jesus. Today I have a very special guest with me, Pastor Timothy Barkman. And we are up in the northern area of Manitoba in Canada with the Garden Hill First Nation. And Brother Timothy is a First Nation evangelist and God has been using him powerfully to lead people to Jesus and to bring God’s healing power to the First Nation people of Garden Hill. And here in Canada, the First Nations people are loved by God. The Bible says that there’s going to be a representative from every tongue and nation and people group in front of the throne room of heaven. And so Brother Timothy is doing a great job telling people about Jesus here. So Brother Timothy, tell me a little bit about your ministry and what God has called you to do.

First Nation Healing Evangelist – Timothy Barkman (01:06):

Okay. First of all, before I go with the interview, thank you for coming this way in our area. And also thank you for having me on your podcast.

Evangelist Daniel King (01:18):

Yes

First Nation Healing Evangelist – Timothy Barkman (01:18):

Sir. Okay. My name is Timothy Barkman. I am from Garden Hill, First Nation Manitoba. And I’m a First Nation evangelist. And what I do here is I go to the First Nation communities to go preach the gospel. And the Bible says go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature. And First Nations is our world. They need the gospel of Jesus Christ. That’s what I do.

Evangelist Daniel King (01:53):

Amen. Well, that’s so powerful. And you were telling me yesterday that you were reading the books of T.L. Osborne. Dr. T. L. Osborne was my spiritual father. I learned so much from him. And in his book about healing, you saw some powerful truths about how God wants to heal people. How did that impact you? And then how did you start your healing ministry?

First Nation Healing Evangelist – Timothy Barkman (02:23):

Okay. I have some of his books and they are really, really powerful. And then the one thing I learned powerfully was he prayed for the sick by casting out spirits of infirmities in the name of Jesus. And that’s what I’ve been doing when I pray for people. And the Bible says in my name, cast out spirits in my name. And that’s what I’ve been doing. And when I pray like that, I see a lot of powerful miracles. People get healed instantly in Jesus’ name.

Evangelist Daniel King (03:09):

Amen. Last night we did a healing meeting and I preached about the paralyzed man who’s let down through the roof. And then we prayed for people. There was one man, he had been in a quad accident. He was driving his quad down the road and got in an accident and he had bruised ribs. It was very difficult for him to breathe. His back was sore, but we prayed for him and God made his breathing perfect. He said he could breathe without pain now and God healed his back. And so God is moving here.

First Nation Healing Evangelist – Timothy Barkman (03:44):

Yes. Amen.

Evangelist Daniel King (03:46):

And tell me a little bit about what your heart is here for the Garden Hill First Nation. What are you asking God to do here in this place?

First Nation Healing Evangelist – Timothy Barkman (03:59):

Okay. My desire for my community is everybody to get saved and people to get healed. And that’s why I’m putting up this healing meeting. That’s why I invited the evangelist Daniel King to come to our community. And last night I’ve seen miracles when Daniel King prayed for the sick and when he preaches the gospel, I see God moving.

Evangelist Daniel King (04:34):

Amen. A lot of people listen to this podcast. They want to know how to pray for the First Nation people of Canada. What are some different areas that people can pray for this community? What are some of the biggest needs and some of the areas that people can be praying for?

First Nation Healing Evangelist – Timothy Barkman (05:02):

Okay. Right now, a lot of people are sick with cancer. And I remember one young man, he was healthy one day. And then in a few days later, two days later, he died from that cancer because he didn’t know he had cancer. So it was horrible. And I’ve heard a lot of people are facing cancer, dying from cancer as well. And that’s why we need this healing, this prayer for our nation, to pray for our nation, people to be sent free from the amount of attacks on their bodies.

Evangelist Daniel King (05:52):

You were telling me yesterday that it seems like a lot of people have died very young.

First Nation Healing Evangelist – Timothy Barkman (05:58):

Yes.

Evangelist Daniel King (05:59):

And even last night I was talking to a nine year old boy and he told me that his father passed away and he was so sad that his father had died. And then he told me also one of his aunts had gone to heaven and wanted to pray for them. And it seems like everyone has a story of someone who maybe had some type of cancer or something. They fly out to Winnipeg and they end up dying in the hospital there. So it really feels like there’s a spirit of death

(06:35):

That has tried to attack the community. But Jesus, when he died on the cross and then he rose back to life, Jesus, he set us free from the power of death, the power of sickness, the power of the grave. And he took the keys to held death in the grave and he took them back from the devil. Satan comes to steal, to kill and to destroy. And that’s what we see Satan doing. Every time we see Satan working, he’s trying to steal from people. He’s trying to kill people. He’s trying to destroy people. But the Bible says, John 10:10, Jesus came to give us life and life more abundantly. And so God wants to give life to Garden Hill, abundant life in Jesus’ name. Preach about that a little bit.

First Nation Healing Evangelist – Timothy Barkman (07:22):

Oh yes, yes, yes. A few weeks ago, this word came to me. I just gotten up one morning. That word that came to me was the devil’s tolling. And what it means is devil’s toll. And I looked at that word toll. It means suffering deaths and damage. And that’s what we’ve been seeing in our community. The devil is attacking us, attacking young people as well, young and old. Seems like everybody is getting sick. It’s like almost every day people are dying and we need prayer, pray for our community, our nation.

Evangelist Daniel King (08:10):

Amen. Amen. And what is the message that Jesus has given you? When you preach as an evangelist to the people of Garden Hill, what is the message that God has put in your heart that’s burning inside you to preach?

First Nation Healing Evangelist – Timothy Barkman (08:30):

My message is pretty simple. Psalm 103: three, or forgiveth all the we healeth all diseases. That is my message to the First Nations people, the message of salvation and the message of healing. When I first started out in a ministry, at first it was First Nations evangelism. And I wasn’t going anywhere with it. I wasn’t moving going anywhere. But when First Nations healing evangelism came, I’m going somewhere. I’m moving. I’m doing for the work of the kingdom of God. And I go to the places, the First Nations communities to go preach the gospel. The message of salvation and healing and God is working in our mist.

Evangelist Daniel King (09:29):

I really like that verse that you quoted, Psalms 103: three. It says that he’s the God who forgives all of our sins and who heals all of our diseases. And so we see how salvation and healing are linked. I think this is one of the great callings of an evangelist to bring salvation, but also to bring healing. In Acts chapter eight, you have the example of Philip the evangelist. And when he’s preaching in Samaria, he preaches. Lots of people are saved. He preaches about Jesus. They get baptized, but there are cripples that are healed and he casts out evil spirits. And so this salvation and healing work together in the ministry of the evangelist. And I find that when you preach healing, then healing becomes the dinner bell that calls people to the banqueting table of heaven. And when people see that people are getting healed and maybe they experience a healing miracle in their own body, then they can say, yes, I want to give my life to Jesus and serve Jesus.

(10:36):

And so I think this is really… I mean, your calling as an evangelist encompasses both salvation and healing. And that’s what I preached about last night. The paralyzed man, Jesus healed him emotionally. Jesus healed him physically, but then Jesus also said, “Son, your sins are forgiven.”

(10:58):

Now here in the community, some of the young people have been facing depression, anxiety, dealing with meth, which is a real big problem. And so what is your message for the young people? What would you tell the young people of Garden Hill about Jesus?

First Nation Healing Evangelist – Timothy Barkman (11:22):

Yes. Meth is the biggest problem in our community. A lot of young people have died already from it. One night they go to bed. Next morning they’re gone. They died in their sleep. And I wish young people would turn their lives around and live for the better, live for the gospel of Jesus Christ. God can set you free from this truck. I call this truck a demonic truck, meth, because the way young people, the way they move, the way they twitch their faces, their arms, they need to be set free. Those demons of meth needs to be cast out of them and they need healing and deliverance.

Evangelist Daniel King (12:18):

Amen. Well, let’s finish this podcast by praying for Garden Hill. And I want to ask you to pray, but instead of praying in English, I want you to pray in your language.

First Nation Healing Evangelist – Timothy Barkman (12:31):

Okay, sure.

Evangelist Daniel King (12:31):

And so you speak… How do you say the name of

First Nation Healing Evangelist – Timothy Barkman (12:34):

The land? Ochekri. Ochekri.

Evangelist Daniel King (12:36):

Ochekri. Yeah. And so the Bible says that representatives from every language will be in front of the throne room of heaven. And so I know that there will be people speaking Ochikri in heaven in front of the throne room of God. And so let’s pray for this community, but pray in your language.

First Nation Healing Evangelist – Timothy Barkman (12:54):

Okay, sir. I’ll do it. Okay. I’m going to pray now. I’m going to pray in my language. Amen. Amen.

Evangelist Daniel King (13:57):

Amen.

(13:59):

Well, it is a beautiful day here in Garden Hill. The sun is so beautiful. The trees, the lake, the waves are crashing on the shore. And it’s so neat to be here. The only way to get here during the summertime is by airplane. In the winter, you have the ice roads going over the lake. And so people can drive up here over the ice. But then when spring comes, all the ice melts and you have these beautiful lakes, but the only way to get here is by air. And so it’s such a privilege for me, for my whole family. I brought my wife, my son Kayla, my daughter Katie Grace up here because my wife is Canadian. My son and daughter both have their Canadian passports. And I know that the First Nation is a very important part of the history of Canada. And so I want my son and daughter to see the First Nations people and to be praying for them.

(15:00):

And so that’s why I brought them here and so that they can be praying for the First Nations people of Canada. And as you’re listening, as you’re watching, I encourage you to pray for the people of Garden Hill, pray for the First Nations of Canada. I believe God is using the First Nations people of Canada in a powerful way. God has a great plan for their lives. And the culture is such a beautiful culture. God has given you such a beautiful place to live in. And we’re so thankful for the opportunity to be here and to preach. Thank you. Thank you for coming. Evangelist Timothy, thank you for having
