Who Are You Listening To?

Main Idea: The voice you are closest to is the voice that will be loudest in your ears. If you are close to the devil, you will hear devil words. If you are close to God, you will hear God’s word for your life.

Characters:

Jesus

The Devil

A normal person

Illustration: Invite three people up from the audience. One represents the devil and he stands on one side of the platform. One represents Jesus and he stands on the other side of the platform. The third one is a normal person and he stands in the middle with the preacher.

Ask Jesus and Satan to begin to speak words to the person.

Jesus says, “You are valuable. You are special. You are blessed. You are healthy. I love you. I forgive you. I have a plan for your life. Etc.”

Satan says, “You are nobody. You are going to die. You have no future. No one loves you. You are sinful.”

If the person is close to Satan who does he hear the loudest? If he moves closer to God, Satan’s volume decreases and God’s volume increases. Whoever you are close to is the one that you will hear and believe. Who do you want to be close to?
