Getting Ready for Change

Change is inevitable. One thing I can guarantee you is that this year will be different than last year.

Nothing is as permanent as change.

Nothing is more permanent than change.

Change is a constant.

What is new now, will be old later. The clothes they wore in the 1970’s look silly today.

Change is continual.

Change is always happening.

Change is here to stay.

Change is important.

Change is accelerating. Somehow you have to get ahead of the change curve.

Your interests change. Your passions change. Your body changes. Your knowledge changes. Your values and your priorities change. Your family relationships change. Your marriage changes.

Friends will change. You have friends of the ROAD and friends of the HEART.  Some people are with you as long as you are headed in the same direction; some people will always be close.

Life is full of changing seasons. Birth, Growth, Study, Marriage, Children, Growing old, death.

Ecclesiastes 3:1 There is a time and a season for everything…

Ps 55:19 Because they do not change, they do not fear the Lord.”

Daniel 2:21 “He changes the times and the seasons…”

The biggest change is salvation. Changing from darkness to light, from the power of satan to God. Acts 26:18: “To open their eyes, and to turn them from darkness to light, and from the power of Satan unto God, that they may receive forgiveness of sins, and inheritance among them which are sanctified by faith that is in [Jesus Christ].”

God does not change.

The only thing that does not change is God. Mal 3:6 and Heb. 13:8.

If God changed that would mean that He was less than perfect. He does not need to improve. He does not need to change. The God of the OT is the same as the God of the NT.

The way God does things is going to change.

Matt 10: Don’t go to the Gentile

Acts 1:8 Go to the Gentiles

Matt 10 – Don’t take a sword

Later – Do take a sword.

So, if change is going to happen, we need to be ready for change. Change is not something to be afraid of, it should be embraced.

“Change is our friend.”  Billy and Marianne Allen

General Eric Shinseki, former chief of staff of the US Army said, “If you don’t like change, you’re going to like irrelevance even less.”

Be like a rubber band: Flexible and adaptable.

When you are finished changing, you are finished.

When you are through changing, you are through.

Change your look from time to time.

If you are not willing to change, you are going to fail. If you are still trying to sell last year’s hot product next year, you will be in trouble.

Don’t let things change you, you change things.

4 Types of Change

  1. Change that happens around you.

            Politics.

  1. Change that happens to you.

Death of a loved one. Loss of a job. Change in health.

  1. Change that happens in you.

This is the most important type of change.

The key to your future is the change that happens in you.

God convicts. – There will not be deep change in your life unless there is conviction.

  1. Change that you make happen.
