Do you want to be blessed? Do you desire to live a life of abundance? Have you been searching for a way to be more blessed than you are right now? In Exodus 19:5, God promises, “If you obey my commands, you will be blessed.” But in the New Testament, God replaced this conditional blessing with an unconditional blessing.
Paul wrote in Ephesians 1:3, “Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing…” Did you read that? You have been blessed with every spiritual blessing. There is nothing God is going to do for you that He has not already done. How often do we ask God for blessings that are already ours in Christ?
According to Paul, you do not need to be blessed. You are blessed; blessed with every spiritual blessing. What more do you need? You are blessed with healing. You are blessed with salvation. You are blessed with prosperity. You are blessed in every way!
Sometimes we struggle and strain to get blessed without realizing that we are already blessed. It is like trying to get into a car you are already sitting in. People who try to get blessed are like a little girl who visited the Statue of Liberty in New York City. During her visit, she noticed a guard standing nearby.
“I want to buy it,” said the girl, pointing at the colossal statue. “How much do you have?” asked the guard.
“Twenty-five cents,” replied the girl.
“Well, you need to understand three things” the guard explained. “First, twenty-five cents is not enough to purchase the statue, in fact, even if you had millions of dollars it would not be enough. Second, the Statue of Liberty is not for sale. And third, if you are an American citizen, you already own it.”
So it is with God’s blessing. If you are trying to get blessed, there are three things you need to understand. First, you do not have enough money to purchase the blessing of God. Second, the blessing of God is not for sale. Third, if you are a Christian, you are already blessed.
As Jesus died on the cross, He proclaimed, “It is finished.” You don’t need to do anything more in order to be blessed, all you need is to understand the fullness of what Jesus accomplished on the cross. You don’t need to sacrifice cows, or say ritualistic prayers, or go on a long pilgrimage, all you have to say is “Thank you, Jesus!”
