Once upon a time, there were four fishermen, and they heard about a lake in Northern Canada that had great fishing. And so they chartered a little plane. It took them up there and landed on the lake, dropped ’em off at a little fishing cabin. And these four fishermen were so excited that they were going to be fishing. But right as they were about to go out on the lake, suddenly it started to rain. The rain was pouring down and they said, don’t worry about it. We’ll just hang out here inside the cabin until the rain stops. So they go inside the cabin and they’re playing cards with one another, and they’re chatting and they’re talking, and it was great. Well then the second day that they were there, it was still raining. And so they’re still in there having a good time. But the cabin was small and everything was wet.

And so they, they started to get on one, one another’s nerves a little bit. And uh, then the third day, guess what happened? It rained again. And by this time they couldn’t stand one another. They were yelling at each other. They were irritated. They were even about ready to have a fist fight. Do you know why those fishermen were fighting? They were fighting because they weren’t fishing. Do you know why sometimes churches fight with one another? They’re fighting because they’re not fishing. Sometimes people come to church and they start to complain, oh, I don’t like the music. I don’t like the carpet. I don’t like what the pastor said this week. It’s just not feeding me. The problem is not in the church or the carpet or the music or the pastor. The problem is that they are not out fishing telling people about Jesus. Jesus said, come follow me and I will make you a fisher of men. And as long as you keep the main thing, the main thing, and stay focused on what is important to God going after souls, then you won’t have time for one church to fight with another church or one believer to fight with another believer. I believe that the solution to all the different problems that churches have with one another is soul winning. If they will go after souls, there’s not time to be bickering with one another.
